Holly E.

It is with a heavy heart that I write this review. I wanted so much to love this place. But after just shy of eight months there, I can definitely say I don't recommend it. Aside from the first couple of weeks there, I never felt welcome as a parent at World Tots LA. I always felt rushed out when I dropped my son off, who started there at 12 months old. I would be reprimanded for dropping my son off past 9:30am. My husband works in the port and has odd hours and sometimes would only get to spend extra time with our son in the mornings when he got home. They didn't care. Despite our paying for the care, I was constantly reprimanded and given snide comments for dropping him off after 9:30. We asked the director if this was required and she said it was recommended, but apparently this wasn't relayed to the staff, who told me constantly it was a requirement. A teacher even yelled at us a few times, or raised her voice, saying that if we brought him after 9:30, we shouldn't bring him at all. My son would often come home dirty. Dried food or snot on his face. When voicing concerns, we were often met with a condescending tone from the teachers or the director. Not all of the teachers. But unfortunately, the ones who would listen and seemed to truly care were few and far between. I felt snubbed. I read the good reviews about this place. I hoped for the best. I eventually felt like I would walk on eggshells and try to be as nice as possible because I didn't want to risk anyone being unkind to my son. But we left. It wasn't worth it. Especially when there are other daycare centers in the area that are competitively priced with good programs and kind staff. I only regret not leaving sooner and hoping things would improve. The week before we left, my husband picked up my son from school with a bloodied face. He had gotten hurt on the playground, and we should have been called, but weren't. I don't know who has left these others reviews. I notice most of them are from 2,3 and 4 years ago or more. I am truly glad these families were happy with their care. I do wish I could say the same. As a fellow parent, I beg you to please look at all your options and do your research. This place has a good location, but there are also other good options in Pedro. I hesitated to write this review, but I feel like if I was being treated rudely, other parents were too, and that breaks my heart. It is so hard to leave your child in daycare as it is, and to deal with these additional stresses, it's just more than a parent should have to take. All the inspections done and what not don't take into account how the parents, the customers, are treated. And I just worry that if I'm not treated with respect and courtesy, my kid won't be either. You can find daycares' inspection results and other info here: http://www.cdss.ca.gov/inforesources/Community-Care-Licensing/Facility-Search-Welcome Here's the info for World Tots LA: https://secure.dss.ca.gov/CareFacilitySearch/FacDetail/197400633 If anyone from the facility reads this, I beg of you, please, please make sure that the staff treats parents with the respect they deserve. We just want what is best for our kids.

Before they ripped her braids out

This is not a safe childcare facility, and when I make this statement it is for the teachers. It took me 4 months to heal from the trauma this facility caused my child and I, she is still traumatized . My child was injured here and I was not notified immediately. I was notified 3 hours after the incident when it was time for me to pick my child up. The teacher that was supposedly watching my child went home. She did not feel the need to inform her director or myself the parent. That my child was injured nor did she write an incident report. I was told several different stories on how my child was hurt but at the end of the day they do not know how my child was hurt because they were not watching her. To add they took my child along with two other children on a wet playground, because it was raining the day my child's braids was ripped from her scalp one day after her second birthday. I do not understand how someone cannot have urgent concern to inform a parent when there childs hair has been riped from there scalp. Last but not least when I obtain the police report the initial teacher whom had no concern for my child injury. Her statement was different from the statement that she wrote for her facility. I can't end this review without stating that I also had another child that attended there same timing. I was told she killed a fish when I picked her up one day. They cannot explain where they were when she was able to get to this fish, and they never wrote an incident report about it. When I asked why there was never an incident report wrote. They finally wrote one which was an apology for telling me that she killed the fish, that it was now a mistake and my child did not kill the fish. Which was completely different from what the teacher had told me happened. I really hope they take the necessary precaution they need to keep people children safe but for my experience that was not the case.

Ms. Nikki's Butterfly Room is a toddler's paradise - filled with endless books, crafts, and experiential toys - and her ability to provide an exciting and dynamic environment for her kids, where they can grow in confidence and ability (while still providing the safe boundaries they need!), is a testament to her calling as a teacher! Our daughter absolutely adores her, Dr. Katie, and the rest of the extended Kehillah community, all of whom contribute to the vibrant and supportive culture that is growing before our eyes. It is such a heartwarming relief as a parent to have the confidence that your child is receiving superlative care and education. At Kehillah, it really does feel like a family, and we couldn't be more thrilled or proud to be a part of it!

Since coming here, I've seen him playing and interacting with the other children, which has been wonderful to see. Ms. Kathy and her teachers take the time to explain to the children that my son is nonverbal but can still play and have fun with them. That has made such a positive difference in helping him meet his goals of opening up and engaging with others. The staff keeps parents informed throughout the day about how their child is doing, and they are always willing to work with families on individual goals, such as potty training. We've recently made great progress with my son's potty training, and I'm so grateful for their support. Most of all, everyone is welcoming, kind, and respectful to both the children and their families. I highly recommend this school to any family looking for a caring and supportive environment.

What a great community family daycare!…read more My two year old daughter attended Davis Family Daycare for several months and she loved it.  Before she was even born I had her enrolled in Montessori school because of their waiting list, but she was no where near ready to go. I explained my situation to Mr Keenan, the owner of Davis Family Daycare, and he said they would work with her. The staff was fantastic and worked with her speech and occupational delays, and before I knew it she was coming home saying new words and reciting her ABC's and numbers.   Mr Keenan is great with the kids, and they all seem to really love both him and his staff. I can't thank them enough.

I'm giving it 5 stars…read morebecause my grandson is very happy each day coming in and leaving, (sometimes not wanting to leave), ha! ha! *This is SO important. The other children are happy as well. The outside area is set up super great for the kiddo's. I LOVE that most of the day is spent outdoors. The child care givers are amazing, kind, organized and professional. My grandson has never had diaper rash, his plastic containers I send food in are washed and placed back in my grandsons bag. My grandson takes long naps during the afternoon, (also very important). Keenan has always been professional, concerned about the welfare of his clients, and is constantly making improvements. I am really happy I was able to place my precious 2yr. old grandson at Davis Family Day Care.

Our daughter has been at PCMA since she was 18 months old and she will be having her last summer…read morethere this year - it is bittersweet. She will be going to TK in the fall. Over the past 2 and half years, we have seen significant growth in her emotional and mental well being. We do not have any close family near by so initially she had a hard time warming up to the teachers/support she did not see on a normal basis. The teachers, directors and the Montessori approach made it easier for her to become the little confident person she is today in which I thank them for their care and support. Additional Notes: The school itself is located on PCH so it is a busy during rush hour. There are times that getting in and out of the school can be troublesome. However, the school itself feels secure and I didn't worry too much about her safety as there are a lot of gates. Since we have been there for a while, we have seen a few changes in staff and was questionable at times. However, the current director does her best to manage the changes and notifies the parents as soon as possible. The director and teachers are very caring and do their best to accommodate the changes as well. The school uses an app for communication about your child and it is very convenient as they update throughout the day such as meals and if they took a nap, etc. It made me feel less anxious. I do feel that they are aligning well with the academics while fully embracing the Montessori guidance. My daughter does well with independent play and loves to learn. She shows an interest in many subjects. Thank you PCMA for the good memories and we will miss you guys!

Both teachers, Ms. Angie and Ms. Marizol, are truly wonderful with our son. They are encouraging, engaging, patient, and fun. We were told that it can take some children 1-3 months to stop crying after drop-off, but our son stopped crying after just the first week, which speaks volumes about the kindness and care they show him. What impressed us even more is how quickly we began to see growth. After just his first week, our son learned to sneeze into his arm, and we've noticed him forming his sentences more and more each day. The school provides weekly curriculum updates, which we love, and they also focus on a monthly book, reinforcing learning in a thoughtful, intentional way. It truly reflects an authentic Montessori learning style. The campus itself is adorable, spacious, and thoughtfully designed for children. The activities offered are precious and intentional, from the Thanksgiving kiddie potluck to Spirit Week and the Christmas recital. Another huge plus is that the school offers lunch and snacks for an additional $100 per month, which is very reasonable and takes a lot of daily stress off parents. The only con I would note is the number of days off throughout the year while still requiring full monthly tuition. This can be challenging, as it requires parents to take multiple days--and even weeks--off work. That said, it is the only downside we've experienced. We initially gave this school 5 stars, and while we still love and appreciate the teachers, it's important to note that a rating reflects the entire experience--including management. Since we don't deal with administration daily, it hasn't impacted us as much, but our confidence in upper management isn't what it once was. It's still a good option overall, especially because of the teachers--but don't expect the same level of excellence across the board.
