4 Stars We've stayed at WorldMark Kona multiple times, and one thing that stands out is the consistency. The rooms are always clean, well-prepared, and ready when promised. After a long day of traveling or exploring the island, that reliability is appreciated. The condos are comfortable and well-appointed with everything needed for an extended stay. The air conditioning works exceptionally well, which may not sound exciting, but in Hawaii it makes a huge difference and contributed greatly to our comfort throughout the trip. The pool area is clean, inviting, and well-maintained. It never felt overcrowded, and it was a great place to relax after a day of sightseeing. Parking was also convenient, and we never had any issues finding a space. The staff deserves special recognition. Everyone we encountered was friendly, professional, and eager to help. One feature we particularly appreciated was the towel exchange service. Simply place your used towels out and give the front desk a call, and they will exchange them for fresh towels daily. No laundry required. It is a simple convenience that makes vacationing much easier. Overall, WorldMark Kona provides a comfortable, clean, and well-managed home base for exploring the Big Island. While there is always room for small improvements at any resort, our experiences here have consistently been positive, and we would gladly stay again. read more

I completed the check-in process with Mike, and it was exceptionally smooth. He was exemplary and a genuine asset to the team. Although I was initially skeptical when making the reservation, I highly recommend this establishment due to the professionalism of individuals like him. Words of advice, though: Sean (or Shawn, however you spell his name) is terrible. Avoid him at all costs. He gives off scammer vibes and keeps harassing you about upgrading your points nonstop. The disrespectful, aggressive tone he took after declining these ridiculous meetings for a "discount" was disgusting. Grab your keys and wristbands and move on. Overall the resort was doable for our 9 night stay. The pool, kiddie pool and hot tub were nice. Not too hot or cold. Pool area was clean. They have a communal toy area that we grabbed. We had a two bedroom room on the third floor. The walls in the bathroom and the kitchen were disgustingly dirty. The floors were dirty as well. It's nice that you can text them and they give you fresh bath towels and pool towels. I wish they had floor numbers when walking up the stairs so it would be easier to know what floor you are on. They also gave us a handicap room which we did not request. Would have rather had a regular room although the bathroom itself was huge. Provided shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. The kitchen didn't have too many dishes and things. No measuring cups just a Pyrex one. read more

Check in went fine until we had to talk about doing a presentation. The man in the lobby was appropriately pushy, he has a job to do but took a no. Then it got weird. We have been called 5 times in 4 hours asking why we won't go to the presentation. They told us they will not stop calling until we agree to a presentation. Worldmark you need to fix this. read more

Stayed here for a weeklong vacation in September 2025. Our unit was spacious, clean, and well-equipped. The air conditioning kept us cool throughout our visit. And it's only a short walk from downtown Kona, which is nice. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end. On back-to-back nights, we returned home late only to find that neither our keycards or bracelets worked on our door. Thankfully there was still someone at the front desk to resolve the situation on both occasions. The WiFi was also abysmal. It didn't even work in one of our bathrooms. I was kicked off of it constantly, with the service literally dropping every couple minutes. And being forced to use Chromecast to stream on the TVs made this situation even more annoying. Lastly, the front desk also misinformed us that we'd have access to the amenities at Club Wyndham Kona next door; we didn't, despite both properties being under the same Wyndham ownership. Overall, not a great experience. Better options are available for your stay in Kona. read more

What an amazing location and I cannot say enough good things about the staff. BBQ grill was even cleaned by staff. Plenty of grills to cook your own food. Kiddie pool, regular pool and hit tub. Money from recycled bottles goes to local charities. Near the beach, walking distance. You can walk downtown from here or walk to the beaches. The bus goes right by this location. Clean rooms. We had oven, blender, microwave and coffee machine as well as hair dryer. Nice shower, we had three Hitachi A/C units in our place and they worked really well. Thumbs up! 5 strong stars. Worldmark Kona was a good overall experience for the wife and I. The room was ready a wee bit early and was clean. You will probably have to drive to go eat or visit anything as the location is a mile plus from the touristy section of Kona. As we would use this room a nightly pit stop, it is well situated to visit all parts of the island, but keep you near the airport and Costco. The check-in staff (Mike and Sean) was helpful and friendly. We did attend the 'presentation', but we do that every few years to try and get re-educated on how best to utilize the Worldmark system. To that end, you do not have to attend the presentation, but the concierge will still give you good advice. read more

The check-in process was great. We were able to get a room since my assigned one wasn't yet around check-in time. The unit itself needs to be updated compared to the other US locations. Since tropical island brings in the bug, I did see dead bugs on the comforter. Small ones after I checked it. There was also a tiny roach on the kitchen counter. Didn't bother me since we were staying for 1night to check out the Manta Rays at the Outrigger. If you were on a tight budget, this could be a good spot. Convenient to explore this part of the Island. If not, I recommend going north to Hilton or Marriott. Want yo spend more, go further north to the Four Seasons. I typically don't travel and need to stay at a 5 star hotel. A 3.5 to 4 would be great! read more

First and last time staying here. Our flight landed @ 10:30 pm (1:30 back home) Budget rental where we had a reservation had a long line because the other car rentals shut down early. Got to Worldmark at 1:30am, where security officer followed us in asking if that was our car and to put the top up on our convertible. Our luggage was in the back seat and we were trying to check in. Front desk person had refused our Instacart order of distilled water for our CPAPS. I had called the day before and the day of our arrival telling them we will have distilled water delivering. between 9 and 10pm. The Instacart deliverer was kind enough to text me telling me they are refusing to receive my order, so she left it outside the entrance behind a plant. The security person waited and followed us back to our car, to make sure we put our top up on the car, not being helpful and shining their flashlight in my face to where I finally said please keep the flashlight off my face. The next day we get the call for our OWNERS ONE HOUR UPDATE (never one hour). We are Platinum Elite, 71 and 79 years old and will not purchase anymore credits. We gave been members since 1992. We tell them that up front, we just had an update less than 2 months ago (January). This Worldmark person who called was pushy as hell. I told her NO 3 times my husband over my shoulder told her NO twice. She said I will give you a free week stay at a Worldmark. She was not taking NO as an answer. We scheduled it for two days out. The next day my husband woke up with the flu, he's still in bed 2 days later. I called and left a message on the number that had called us,that we are canceling because my husband's sick. I received a text reminding us of our mtg. I told them I had left a message canceling because my husbsnd is ill. They messaged back who did I leave a message with and another message when can we rebook. They kept calling my phone and I refuse to answer. read more

The condo was a typical Worldmark. The staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, and the room was clean. The pool/ patio area looked inviting, though we didn't spend any time there. The plumeria on the grounds were in bloom, which gave off the most heavenly scent. The staff provided a small locker for the clientele to donate stuff they don't want to take back home, and we found some snorkeling gear and body boards while we were there, which we borrowed and returned for someone else to use. They also provided a hospitality room to stay in before you check in or after you check out, which was super nice for us as our flight didn't leave until 8:15pm the day we checked out. The only reason I didn't give it five stars is that there was an overpowering musty odor in our room the first day. We aired it out, and it was fine after that. Worldmark Kona is situated just at the edge of what was once a small fishing village, and retreat for King Kamehameha and his family. Kailua is now filled with shops and restaurants with open air dining and ocean views. The atmosphere of this small town is rustic and casual. A palisade runs along the rocky beach, and it is entertaining to watch the waves crash over the lava formations from a safe distance. Look carefully and you'll see little black crabs crawling all over the rocks. That said, if you are envisioning lazy afternoons of sipping blue Hawaiians under a sun umbrella on white sandy beaches, this isn't the place for you. While there are a few lovely sand beaches open to the public that you can drive to from Kailua, most of the beaches on the island of Hawaii are rocky and rugged. We loved it. There is a small public beach with some sand within walking distance to the Kailua Kona Worldmark (a couple blocks south), and we enjoyed going down there each night to watch the sunset and surfers. The shore drops off steeply, so it's not great for swimming-- and as I mentioned previously, lava rock outcroppings meet the edge, making it somewhat treacherous as the water crashes in. Unless you have a floating device, and know where to paddle in safely, I would avoid swimming here. It is definitely not a safe place for small children without an adult within arm's reach. The worst service and then avoidance... I booked a one day flight to Honolulu for the day for my husband to experience the beach and explore the Island for his b day. The Expedia local expert Lena Gamagang purposefully gave us incorrect instructions to follow that resulted in Hawaiian airlines not honoring our boarding onto our scheduled flight although we were at the airport early enough to do so. Lena specifically highlighted the time to check in and verbally stated " it is a small airport so there is no need to arrive early or anything like that just walk up to the counter and show the agent the ticket booked and we will be able to board." We could not get a standby flight after waiting. Expedia local expert Lena Gamagang reaches out to me and stated we should have read the fine print of the airline tickets and also stated she did not help us book that her co worker did when the booking information clearly states she did. The integrity of the situation is non existent and Expedia needs to refund me the cost and Lena Gamagang should not be allowed to represent the company she is giving the company a bad name. See the pic of the ignorance Lena Gamagang does, if Expedia is supporting this it feels like fraudulent behavior and very dishonest. It is really unfortunate she is trying to pawn off the booking onto a co worker that was not involved in the flight booking. This person needs to be removed from the company and my money refunded. read more

We've stayed here several times and are always happy to return. It's clean and the grounds are well maintained. We have ocean views albeit obstructed but we knew that when booking. There's concierge services and Expedia on site for scheduling activities. There is no food or beverage services which should come as no surprise to WorldMark Owners. But guests of owners or sub-renters may be caught off guard. There is a very nice sandy beach less than a 5 minute walk north. It also has plenty of parking - street & lot. Plus bathrooms. Perfect place to watch the sun set. Staff are always very friendly and helpful. We're long time WorldMark owners and are just not going to go to an 'Owners Update' (ie sales pitch) because we are satisfied with the points we own. Hubs explained this to the staff person and she still did 'encourage' a bit but understood when he said "You do you and I'll do me. I know you have to make the pitch so go ahead but we're are just not going to go to the update." She respected that and he got no more pressure. read more

Great location just south of Kailua-Kona proper. If you've been to other Worldmarks, this will live up to your expectations - they use the standard one or two bedroom configurations. This resort is way smaller than the one in Maui - just one building. The only views of the water are on the condos on the west side, and probably only on the 4th floor. But I don't stay at Worldmark for a great view or to be pampered. I expect that the rooms will be clean, that everything will be in good working order and that the staff will be friendly. All expectations met in that respect. The one standout of the resort is the concierge, Lehua. She's a local and full of energy and does a great job with the daily island orientations. Her recs and help with scheduling activities really made this trip a standout. One last thing - they have wireless internet - kinda slow, but better than the wired access in Maui. read more

If you came to Hawaii expecting a luxurious stay where you could lounge poolside sipping fruity drinks with umbrellas in them, then don't stay here. If you came to Hawaii, expecting to do a lot of activities, and spend little time in your room, and to perhaps save on some costs by cooking your own meals, then this is probably the place for you. The units are spacious and blessed with an air conditioning unit in each room. This is great for combating the unbearable humidity during the summer. There is really no view from the units as they almost all face the inner quad / pool area. Parking seems sufficient although maybe not spacious. The location is very good in its proximity to downtown Kona and the supermarket is nearby. It is not so close to Kona that you will get bogged down in traffic. Getting in and out of the premises can be a bit tricky as it is right off of Alii Drive right next to a stop sign. Most of the drivers, especially the locals, are very accommodating and will let you in or out with relative ease. I really liked that they were a short drive to the Poke Shack which has da bomb poke. The worst thing about this facility is that it is located right next door to the Wyndham resort with its bungalows, bar, and landscaped pool, so you will feel like the lower crust. Especially knowing that you could have booked there instead. Overall, I would not say that this facility is poorly maintained, but it is not pristine either. It is more of the level of a premium college apartment. One thing I really liked was that they have an Expedia Local Expert give a presentation daily on what to go see and do on the island and help you to book your adventures. We are here for 2 more days wrapping up our 2 week stay. We have been owners for a long time and this has been one of the worst experiences we have had. The staff seems nice but say their hands are tied rather than resolving issues. We had to move to a different unit for the last 3 days. When this has happened previously at other resorts you pack your things and they come move it for you. Not here. They made us pack, take our things to a holding room, then go move our stuff again when they got the second room cleaned. They also wanted us to take our things off the carts during this transition so they could use them for an hour. We said no. We weren't going to load/unload them 4 times! We are paying 2 cleaning fees but can't get an extra blanket because the housekeeping folks went home. When I said that was unacceptable the front desk eventually figured how to bring us one. Lots of cockroaches running around. Fire alarm had a low battery and is chirping tonight. Front desk is closed... My husband went to use the bbqs and they were filthy. He cleaned it so we could use it, then cleaned the rest while our dinner was cooking. This resort is not across the street from a usable beach. You'll need to drive. Just an fyi. Our rooms were cleaned well and the pool is nice. The spa is nice except the step into it is so deep that you have to use a ladder to get in and it feels like it isn't attached all the way. We still had a good trip but were disappointed in the timeshare we have spent so much money to have. Its almost impossible to book and they are letting the facilities run down The owners pay hefty maintenance fees but they are apparently not being used as intended. read more

Really enjoying our stay here, easy walk into town, great pool and patio, and friendly staff. The room is great (comfortable, air conditioned & quiet) and much bigger than the one we normally get in Whistler. I love that we look out onto the pool. We have walked into town every night so far, it's an easy, flat walk (although the street in front can get busy at times, but the drivers seem to be friendly and let you cross the street). It does get dark at night, so we used our cell phone flashlight for the last section of road. We went to the Expedia talk and won a 9hr volcano tour, then $100 credit card at the presentation later. We didn't purchase any Time Share credits, but had a nice dinner with the credit card. Everyone has been very helpful and friendly, this is our first time in Hawaii and we are really enjoying it. read more

It's is close to down town. Very centralized to a lot of the excursions we did. It's quiet. There is a warm pool and hot tub. No gym. They are a little sneaky/pushy on the timeshare sales but we managed to break free. The best thing it here is that there is a cabinet called recycled beach items. It's filled with things people bought that they can't take back . We got to use a real cooler, 2 boogie boards, 1 noodle and 2 beach mats. Placed it back in , for someone else. This resort is congruent with typical Worldmark locations we've been to. They called me at home 3 days before arrival to confirm our arrival time & ask if we needed anything. I though that was nice. We met John & Caroline the morning after we arrived for a 30 min presentation to orient ourselves to the island, ask questions & book excursions on the spot. John gives you a highlighted map with recommendations for best beaches & food. We visited all the spots and he was right. Of course, if you go to an "owner's update" you can get discounts on your paid excursions. The excursions John recommended were exactly what he said they were. We ended up next door at the Wyndam Resort for an owner's meeting, spent some time with a Wyndam rep. We realized Wyndam is totally different than Worldmark resorts. If you are a Wyndam owner you will be disappointed with Worldmark resorts. It is just different. Our room here was clean. Air condition in bedroom & living room. This was comfortable enough. Everything in the room was in working condition. The pool area was clean. The resort was quiet at night. We enjoyed our stay here. read more

The only reason I canont give 5 stars is just that compaired to other Worldmark facilities this one is smaller and not as much room. Still the location is beautiful and near to little shops to go tinker around and look at nick nacks. Restaurants are close by as well. The customer service was the worst service I've ever experienced at any resort I've been at. Vernon needs to brighten up and treat guests with more respect and be delighted people are coming to the resort. He questioned my reservation (I mean seriously? I had the paperwork). There were other people as well that seemed inconvenienced to provide service. The general manager? What a joke and so classless and rude. I mean we pay for your salary so treat people better! Looks a lot like the Maui Worldmark property but smaller. We were completely satisfied with room, amenities, etc. It isn't a resort/hotel like Waikoloa or a Hyatt. It is a timeshare condo. We are owners and we love it! One bedroom had lots of room. Having a kitchen with full refrigerator, stove, etc is key for family travel. Will return! read more

I called in am and I wanted to request quiet room and extra blankets and towels. The receptionist said the rooms were preassigned and our room was stocked for 6 guests. No safe in house, but you can leave with manager (I don't feel like the inconvenience with getting my wedding ring, wallet, etc)! No free wi-fi. Thank God our room was top level and quiet. There was 3 adults staying in our room. Bed time came...minimal supplies. I called and asked where the extra blankets etc were. They said "we removed the extra." One of us pulled a thin blanket off hide-a-bed, the other one froze. They only give supplies from 8am-3pm. But you can "walk down to front desk for towels or some supplies." After busy day we were too tired. Yes theres air conditioning but all of us kept having swollen eyes during the night...not sure if filters/cleaning needs to help with that. The next am we had to scrub hardened food on pots and pans, mop the sand off bathroom and kitchen floors, wipe off hair off toilets and clean up toe nail clippings. Again tiring day and our bad for not complaining. Due to previous phone calls it was like why bother. Super tiny master shower and bathroom (notice no photos on here yet), minimal lighting in master room, (no tub for master bedroom), no windows in bathrooms, definitely towel natzi. One housekeeper had worked here 7 years she was fantastic. Pool was cloudy (again poor maintenance). Grounds were kept clean. Parking is limited in front and difficult to maneuver. Great location to downtown and beach access. We had a "recently updated room" but inside washing machine was dirty, broken shelf in fridge so we lost storage, dishwasher was barely working, no paper pad in room to write down anything, BARE MINIMUM SUPPLIES. If we are here a week and gone to beach or scuba diving we should have a few toilet papers, soaps etc. I suppose bugs are expected on an island but we didnt have any at our other resort. Very small deck...BEDS (mattresses) ARE BELOW AVERAGE. Wyndam Kona or Kona Coast resort is much nicer. This is my first negative review on trip advisor, but since I noticed there weren't any current reviews I thought I would let you know in case you had higher expectstions. read more

We stayed (actually staying right now, July 2017) here for a second time, the first over 15 years ago. Don't know what I was expecting - it is the same property so it is similar from before. No quick walk to the beach access - you need to rent a car unless you plan to stay on the property. Grocery, restaurants, entertainment, and beach access are not an easy walk, at least for this AARP card holder. We noticed that the pool area is dirty and old - it needs a simple powerwashing, but it did 15 years ago. With newer resorts in the Worldmark system, this one seems like a poor orphan. Even the interiors seem forlorn, with dusty floors, Worldmark basic linens, and very spartan and dusty balconies. The paint has been touched up over the years, and this complex could really use some interior decorating. Mosquitos? A few. Geckos? Yes in the stairwells. Gnats and other small flying things? Yes. Other bugs? none seen. View? No, although the Fourth of July fireworks were visible from the top floor hallway. When we first arrived, troves of locals filled the pool area. Mentioned this to the front desk and was told there were several units with locals in them. We commented that if they were staying here, they would have Worldmark standard pool towels. The next day, they were gone, and the pool area really became peaceful, creating a slow relaxed atmosphere. However, I know that I am supposed to be in paradise, but these days, I need my internet. Outside of cruises which use satellite connections, Worldmark has the worst internet I have experienced in my travels, whether in the US or in third world undeveloped countries. Worldmark must have had a sweetheart deal with their internet provider. It is bad here and in other Worldmark properties, even relatively urban ones (like in Las Vegas). At all Worldmark properties I have been to, speed is extremely variable with typical hiccups and pauses. On this trip, while it worked, at times, speeds went down to 25 kbps - extremely slow by today's standards. Then, it stopped working altogether - no connection. Checked with the front desk - their's was working, but they gave me the support number. Called support, they checked and advised that the issue had already been noted, but that someone was working on it. They'll call when they fix the problem. I guess that if someone purchased internet, they would provide a refund. For Travelshare members, they won't do anything - SOL. Now, internet has been down for two days. Competing timeshares (we have a couple) provide much better service, better and more ample linens, and nicer accommodations. I am writing this review with my laptop tethered to a cellphone for internet. The morning Expedia Host talk (Breakfast was a few fruit and a couple of Costco muffins and bagels sliced into very small slices) was basically a sales pitch, using discounts as bait to entice attendees into another timeshare presentation (We were offered $75 - not the $100 noted in other reviews. Also - no food, unless you count snack granola bars from Costco) The Makana card is good for 10 - 20% discounts at certain restaurants (The Entertainment app with Interval Gold - our other timeshare affiliation - provided a bogo offer at the Mexican restaurant in town and the typical bogo for a couple of local fast food franchises. It does appear to have more, but on the Hilo side). The discounts on activities are less than those available on the web and local vendors advertised lower pricing (without timeshare presentation). Don't book any tour from the Expedia Local Expert at WorldMark, especially from the person name Amy. The person is really rude and very unfriendly. Won't give you any local advice unless you book the tour from her. Yet all those tour you can book you self from tour group like hawaii forest and trail or wasabitourshawaii.com or http://www.robertshawaii.com/. They have better deal and better service. It also hard to believed an local Expert does not know where to rent a bike or about local transportation. What a joke for being a local expert. You can rent a bike at Kona Beach and Sports which very close to the hotel and you can ride it outside the town. read more
