There are two World's Apart shops in Liverpool and contrary to the name they are actually quite close together. This building in Lime street is a mess and needs a sympathetic refurb and clean. I was surprised to discover that actually this shop is part of a small chain. I visited the shop for the first time this week. It's full of comics and toys you simply can't get elsewhere - not that I have tried. So many of the toy figures I could not recognise although I did spot some of the original Dr Who figures and some from Final Fantasy. Forget Toys R Us, this place is a wealth of badges, stickers, games and oddness for kids, adults and fans of things I've never even heard of. read more

Now there are a couple of these strange little shops dotted around town selling figurines and comic books to adults and frankly I find it a bit scary. However, they certainly must prove popular for those who want a Saw V mask, a rare Batman figurine or an obscure edition of Marvel's finest! The window display certainly makes you want to cross over and take a closer look at the curios inside, but then you see the clientele and can become somewhat intimidated. I've seen more steel toe capped boots walking in and out of Worlds Apart than the Hell's Angels have seen at the Harley Davidson show, no lie. It's not a place I'd take my children because I wouldn't want to encourage an unhealthy satisfaction with collecting knives and guns that look real! Being lost in Liverpool when it's raining sideways is not fun. Liverpool rain is extra special because it's actually figured out a way to fall up your skirt. I discovered Worlds Apart while drifting confusedly down Lime Street, frozen fingers gripping a soggy map. What a happy surprise! It's got a great selection of mostly print material but there are enough figurines, tees, toys, bags, and masks to satisfy fans from Golden Age sf to Pokemon. I tried desperately to rationalize the purchase of a beautiful crocheted Cthulhu mask, alas its giant size on my tiny head made me look only comical and not the least bit sanity-shredding. And the thought of throwing Great Cthulhu in the dryer just seemed wrong. Alas. Thank you Worlds Apart for being a beacon of warm weirdness, just when I needed it. read more

World's Apart is an excellent shop if you have any geeky tendencies. They stock items such as comics, books, graphic novels, posters, calendars, film merchandise, memorabilia, t-shirts, toys, figures and DVDs. This is a large store which is organised well and is not too cramped like other comic book type stores. The staff are very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable and seem to enjoy their jobs. I've been in here and been given excellent advice on a good present for a geeky friend and the resulting purchase has always gone down well. The items here are cheaper than in Forbidden Planet and there is a huge range of items on offer. read more

For such a large building, Worlds Apart sure does waste its vast floorspace. There's more crammed into the front window than there is in the whole shop. Then again, it may be because it's so big that it fails to fill its rooms. In my mind, it isn't a good sci-fi and cult shop if you don't have to fight your way through models of the Starship Enterprise or life-size models of the Predator. In contrast, Worlds Apart feels bare, like the closing hours of a huge sale that saw thousands of people flocking in. Now all your stuck with is obscure comic books (yeah take that, I didn't call them graphic novels) and figurines from TV shows you've never heard of. read more

Worlds Apart is one of two comic-book/memorabilia stores in Liverpool, and is generally the better of the two when it comes to pricing and comics. The shop has an interesting layout and tons of weird and wonderful fancies around - I don't know if you've ever wanted a Predator mask or a Halo helmet, but this is the place to ask. The staff aren't very approachable, but they aren't rude either. It's also a lot easier to get to than Forbidden Planet, as it's basically just off Lime Street Station. read more

I have frequently purchased from my his shop over the course of 9 years with my friends and family. This has been since I was a mathematics student to now where I am in a professional IT architectural career. On Sunday 19th June 2022 (approximately 2pm) I was approached my a female member of staff (with glasses and dyed hair) and asked to empty my bag for inspection. I had literally just purchased an item from forbidden planet 10 minutes earlier and luckily I accepted the offer of a bag from that store. Otherwise I could have been accused even further and missed my impending train. Upon proving I had committed no wrong doing, I received no apology what so ever for being accused of shoplifting. I take this as incredibly offensive, since I and my family were burgled exactly 1 week ago today whilst we were abroad. This was an incredibly traumatic experience and to be accused of of stealing exactly 1 week later is beyond infuriating. As a result of this experience, I, my family and friends will not be purchasing from worlds apart in future. I will actively seek to purchase from competitors with more modest prices and dissuade my acquaintances to also avoid! read more

This shop is grreat, i go to liverpool just for this shop. They have everything a geek/nerd could want, from game figures, to comics, and then to manga and anime. In my opinion this shop has a lot more than the Forbidden Planet in liverpool. Also the staff are really nice and friendly in Worlds Apart. read more

Have been in there before for Marvel Comics and Fantasy art books for family members. Not really my cup of tea as it does obviously have a select type of customer (probably 30 year old virgins that collect horror movie toys). Anyway went in there today with my kids, simply because we were passing and the window display was enticing. Anyway, I heard the woman behind the counter moaning because a kid was sat on the floor, he was neither in the way of anyone or causing a problem. The woman made catty remarks to the unkempt friend she was chatting to at the counter before telling the kid to get off the floor. She then went on to complain at my kids for pressing the noises on some talking key ring thing. Yes we all have bad days, maybe this was the case but frankly i found her attitude crap and the fact that her greasy companion at the other end of the counter was standing there did not do the customer service image much good either. Why work in a toy shop if you have no time for kids? I say toy shop because that's precisely what it is. All be it figurines for nerdy middle aged people but they're are clearly well sculptured TOYS. Scruffy, minging shop that I would never use again. read more

Made a pilgrimage to this place when I was in Liverpool week and was not disappointed. Great selection of comics, tps and other geeky stuff. You could easily spend hours in there browsing the shelves. I'll definitely revisit when i'm back in the Pool. read more
