It's free to register (though the deadline has passed for 2024). But if you want to get in the halloween spirit, participating homes are judged on three different elements: most creative, best use of effects, and scariest decor. And if you simply want to view the homes, they have a map online, as well as an option to tour the homes via cable car wine trolley the days leading up to halloween. This just may be a new annual tradition in Morgan Hill. I sure hope so, as I was impressed and entertained and a little creeped out too.

And the staff are incredible helpful and friendly (even the zombies ... like what happened to the hubby when his zombie blaster stopped working ... the zombie helped him fixed it so the hubby could blast him lol) and when one of our company pointed out that he had to drive back to SF and so couldn't wait in line for one of the events (and he said that in passing to us mind you, not to the staff), the staff overheard us and bumped us ahead in line !! October 2025…read more... Another Halloween season of driving from Sacramento all the way to San Jose to experience Bernal Scream again! We're pretty dedicated fans of this Haunt and they never disappoint! The props are really well executed. Actors stay in character and really perform in a way that is curated well. Security measures are present and it always feels like a safe environment despite the screams and fun. I enjoyed 2024' location, I enjoyed 2025' location... I have one gripe that..... might give away one of the areas during the walk-thru experience.... For 2025... It was held at the fairgrounds and you get your tickets, walk inside to the lined waiting areas and wait to be called for entry. Once we entered the haunt, just the 2 of us, it was a series of different rooms to walk thru, experience the "theme" of each area, actors are spread out within the venue for that extra scare... One of my hesitations with any haunt.... it's not the actors, props, setups, or darkness...... it's usually having to face the unknown of what might be a scare presented as a phobia. For 2025, there was an area that had from what I could see.... like plastic prop style snakes, and that's a real phobia for people. Obviously, this is my issue to deal with personally, but it would be nice to not encounter a snake effect during haunts. That room scared me the most, and although I knew logically they weren't real, it's a real phobia, a real scare, and an elevated heart rate that I didn't want to experience. We will continue to support and enjoy Bernal! The team does amazing work! But please..... if reading this, take that into consideration. A beautiful laid-back and…read morespacious atmosphere, and country music played through the speakers near the big barn, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available, and a few merchandise vendors on site, as well as beer and wine for sale. However a big negative here are the LONG LINES. Not only were lines slow, but there were extra unnecessary lines. Two lines for entry, one for wristbands, then the other for security. Two lines for food, one to place orders and pay, the other to pick up orders from the appropriate truck/tent (the steak quesadilla and tri-tip sandwich weren't even worth the wait... though the former was bigger and better). Also, there was one SUPER MEGA LINE (worse than Disneyland) for the Trail of Lights and Frights due to lack of instructions from staff and no signs to indicate that there were actually two separate entries: one trail is for kids, bright and safe (with LIGHTS), the other trail is for the haunted attraction (with FRIGHTS) where the sounds of chainsaws and screaming could be heard coming from behind the corn field (this is not the same as the regular corn maze on the farm by the way). It was definitely fun and creepy! The corn maze was cool and not too challenging, lit even after dark as they have a giant flood light high above. There was also a good amount of entertaining activities for both kids and adults, including a pumpkin patch, mechanical bull, and giant jump pillows. But again, a lack of instruction and signage, especially for the biggest attractions on site. I even saw people sliding down a hill in potato sacks on the far end of the farm, but there was no clear sign about "slide mountain", so you would not know about it unless you happened to go in that direction or had a map of the farm. As a reminder there is uneven terrain everywhere and lots of walking necessary, (especially in the trails of lights and frights, and corn maze), so wear comfortable walking shoes that you don't mind getting dirty. Despite the issues I mentioned, we still enjoyed our time here. And the cost of tickets is worth it if doing the Trail of Frights (since it's comparable with other haunted houses, but you also get other farm activities on top of that). Parking was free and easy too.

The other is just taking tally of the drinks , we paid $1500 for a par tab bar but they were still asking my guests to pay for their drinks!! I ask for Paloma's as one of our cocktails and they tasted like straight grapefruit juice not to mention they ran out of grapefruit juice by 5:30 . I paid for two bussers to be there at 4pm they sent one home and the other girl was just at the bar chit chatting meanwhile my guests were clearing off tables and instead of the so called operations manager doing her job and helping clear tables since she sent someone home she handed my guests bags to clear off the tables the other busser didn't get there till almost 530 or after and then him and the other girl busser were upstairs hanging out in the bridal suite taking selfies where all of our personal items and purses are and my maid of honor had to tell them to go downstairs and do their job . Not to mention there's two cameras in the bridal suite where we're supposed to feel comfortable getting undressed ?? And then they tried telling us if weren't out by 11 we were going to get charged $1200 . Which by the way their website lies it says you get the venue until 12pm , the contract says 11:30 but they'll tell you strictly at 11:15 and then hound you any minute after that about charging extra . Also my husband ended up putting his card on file which they closed out for no reason , told him he was being charged $120 but yet he was charged $240 so I don't know if the so called manager left herself a tip or what because they don't give receipts for anything . You're better off going somewhere else and saving yourself the headache yes the venue is beautiful but the inconsistency and clueless staff isn't worth it .

The attraction itself was better than expected. The props were pretty amazing, lots of great sets, and the actors were beyond frightening. You'll come face to face with the creatures of your scariest nightmares brought to life, and chased slowly through this "maze of madness"... and when they say "maze," they really mean it. Beware, if you get lost in this freak circus, you will not be able to stop screaming. Once you escape one monster, there's already another one creeping up on you. I certainly lost my voice, and that was just our first haunt of the night. This isn't highly advertised like some other haunts in the south bay, and buying tickets feels unnecessarily complicated, but don't be fooled by its cryptic nature or the family-friendly atmosphere (cute outdoor setup with kids' activities, carnival snacks, even a screen showing movies)... This haunt is SCARY, and fun at the same time, definitely top value for what you get (and I've been to a LOT of haunted houses over the years to compare it to). Well done!

The bar downstairs is ridiculously expensive at around $12 for a small glass of liquor with lots of ice, of $7 for a bottle of water. Restrooms are open to anyone and mon gendered so be mindful when you're at the urinal because women can and will be behind you at the sink washing their hands. The decorations look like something out of Hobby Lobby meets Dollar Tree. Oh with a lot of cheap flat screens everywhere. The actors reminded me of everyone in my High School acting club. Good try, lots of passion, but not scary. Especially when I've been to both Universal Studios Florida and LA. Groups are about 10 people and our group had a lot of scaredy cats. You can pay extra for these red glow necklaces that make actors choose you or try extra hard to scare you. Turns out some people in our group are scared easily even though they were posing as tough with their necklaces LOL So the theme this year 2025 is good witches against bad witches who are turning humans into rats and zombies. Ummm. .okay. I found the whole thing comical and give this place 3.5 stars. Wish they would spend more time and money on the decorations, tone down the overacting and screaming, and get a better plot line. The entire park looks reminiscent of a wannabe Disneyland. I know some are crying over the loss of Halloween Haunt but this is probably more of a moneymaker for Great America and by the size of the crowds they are doing well this season. Trick or Treating Halloween Themed Shows Halloween Themed Sweets Halloween Activities There are four areas of the park Patch Place Ickyville Sweet Tooth Acres Everfall Most of the popular roller coaster rides are operating during this special event. The lines for the trick or treating are long but lots of kids and their families are having fun. You see many families with their young children up to teens enjoying the park. I love the addition of the bonfires with seats around- such a great addition to the park on the chilly evenings. We have Gold Season Passes and have enjoyed Great America's Tricks and Treats. The park has been quite packed both during the day and night. I look forward to seeing how amazing Winterfest will be this year since the Great America's Tricks and Treats has been so fantastic. We were in San Jose for Labor Day weekend 2026 and looking for something to do. I googled what to…read moredo in San Jose and the only thing that came up was the Winchester Mystery House beside shopping. They have some good shopping the Westfield Mall and Santana Row. We're good on clothing and other goods so we weren't really looking to go shopping. I've heard of the Winchester Mystery House, but have never been. This seemed like my best chance. My husband has been twice. When he has 12 and then again when he was 42 so it wasn't new to him. I looked them up on their website and was shocked to see how expensive it was to make a single 1 hour tour, but it's really the only thing to do in San Jose besides eating and shopping so we took the plunge and decided to go. I looked and there was plenty of tickets on Friday so we figured we could just show up and go. For some reason I was inspired to look Sunday night to recheck the ticket prices and ensure they were going to be open Labor Day. To my shock the 10am slot was sold out and so were most of the morning slots. There were tickets at the 10:05am tour time. I didn't want to commit so soon at the same time I didn't want to miss our opportunity to see the house. In the end I took the gamble that we'd be up and ready to go by 9am to ensure we would make it to the 10:05 tour time. It cost $92.22 for 2 people including taxes and fees. Wow!!! Steep. I'm glad there were tickets left and I was able to snag 2 for the early time as we needed to make the journey home afterwards. We arrived at around 9am and thankfully found parking. On their website they said they were under construction and parking was limited and you may have to park at Santana Row. I didn't want to have to walk that far so we my husband humored me and we arrived extra early and were first in the parking lot. Good for us. We hung out in the car till 9:40am and then headed to the gate to get in line. There was a crowd forming, but no actual line. They opened the gates at around 9:45am to get everyone through security. They inquired if we had any weapons including pepper spray and inspected our purses. Good thing I left the pepper spray in the car lol. After entering in the court yard we were directed to the gift shop. We were informed that the most important room of the house, the bathroom was though the glass doors and through the inner courtyard. Also look for the green and red sign as that is where you go for your tour. At 10am sharp they called the first group in. They scanned your ticket and then took your picture agains the side of the house and give you a card to look at your picture after your tour. In addition after your tour they email you a link to your picture in addition to being able to look up your picture via the QR code on the card they gave you. I didn't look at the pictures till I got home as I took a really good one of us in the garden. When I got home I used the QR code to look at our pictures and I was shocked that they looked so good. They superimposed a picture of the house behind us. It was a super fun pose and my husband actually smiled in the pictures. They are only $35 for the set of digital prints. I'm not sure how it works if you get the printed copy at the gift shop, if they also give you access to the digital prints as well. I sure hope they would as these days everyone wants it digitally so they can post it on social media and send it to friends and family via email or text. I'm still tempted to buy the picture set. We'll see how long they leave it up. We just look so good in the pictures. I'm a total picture person and a real sucker for photo ops, especially photo booths. To add to it they did have a Photo Booth in the gift shop that looked fun, but as I said we did take some really cool selfies so we really don't need more pictures. The first cool thing you see is the door with the stairway that goes nowhere. So cool. Excitement from the very start. I got a cool picture of the staircase. The house is huge, but the room inside are tiny and I mean tiny. It's like you're walking into a closet. You are walking in and out of a room before you realize it. We visited I belive 110 rooms in 1 hour. After the tour we took a tour of the gardens. I am so glad that we did as you can walk around to the front of the house and grab a. Signed on for the optional self guided attic and basement tour and I'm so happy I did. Got to speak with a guy named JT who works there and he was so full of knowledge regarding Sarah and the house. He really gave such a new perspective to the designs I had never thought of before. I understand the tour guides have a script and they like to lean into the paranormal but Sarah is such a character, just like her house. It almost felt disrespectful walking through and hearing they had 'ghost' noises playing in part of the basement. This woman was highly intelligent and did so many great things just to be painted as a crazy woman. Winchester needs to do better. Major shout out to JT, if he ran that place I just know it would be spectacular.
