We've lived in the next town over for over 30 years and have always heard great things about Worrells Buther Shop. Having had our main stop for meats recently close, we decided to order our Easter dinner meats from Worrells (a large, cooked ham and a brisket). WOW. Not only did they walk us through the amount of ham & size of brisket to order - they also recommended the rub to use for smoking the brisket. Having never smoked a brisket before, I watched tons of videos & read articles to get mentally prepped for the task.... The main thing I've seen was about trimming the brisket and removing the "membrane" before marinading / etc..... Low & behold - all that was already done for me. No trimming, no prepping the meat - just marinade, run & smoke!! Worrells is tops on our list & we will certainly be back often. PS - I wish I took pix of the ham AND the brisket before & after the 9 hour smoke session to share. Maybe next time. Thank you! read more

It's a traditional butcher shop, you name they have it. If you haven't been to one, give it a try. You'll get a quality cut of meat that you can rarely find at a supermarket. They have a frozen section of soup broths and various other frozen things like bacon covered scallops, and other frozen meat items (I saw buffalo burgers and alligator). I picked up some NY Strip Steaks and they were perfect. They also have a little section of cheeses and meats from Di Bruno Brothers which is will definitely be on my next visit. read more

We have tried many cuts of steak, ground beef, and even the dog food mix they make (our dogs love their "meat shop" food). All in all Worrell's is very very good. I have to say the best steak I have ever eaten (including at fine restaurants) was from Worrell's. I am a total dessert person, but the one time we got that really good steak, it was so good I wanted more steak instead of dessert. The thing is, the steak isn't always THAT excellent. Wish it were. It's never terrible, but it's not always phenomenal, and for our budget, the prices are for phenomenal steaks. We don't expect to leave this place without spending at least $50 which ends up being a little more than dinner for two. The specialty sausages and gourmet fillings offered in the meat and poultry are really nice. They have frozen options as well as in the case, and they always cut your meat to order so it is super fresh. (The grass-fed hormone-free beef options are all frozen.) $16.95 buys you 2lbs of frozen chip steak, which made us 6 cheesesteaks. The meat was very good, and there was so little fat on it, my husband actually had to ADD oil to it to cook it. Very good quality. The store is cute and clean, and easy to navigate. The staff is laid back, and extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The guys there are just really really kind and helpful, and they like what they do. Parking gets cramped as they share the lot with a bunch of other stores. They are easy to find on King Street by the PO. read more

Dishonest! Called the week before Christmas to get a price on a 9-10lb filet roast and was quoted $250 for my order. Christmas Eve I drove out to Malvern (from Bryn Mawr) and waited in the long, long line...only to finally get to the counter and the EIGHT POUND roast was $326. I told the man helping me what I had been quoted for a larger roast...he conferred with another person who then offered me another cut of meat for $265 that was SIX pounds. I was serving 16 people so this option was not only unhelpful, but slightly insulting. Rather than dealing searching for an alternative option on Christmas Eve and risk coming up short-handed, I reluctantly spent the $326 and left. But the silver lining - I'll never make that drive again or have to stand in that line again. So, so not worth it. read more

The best butcher on the Main Line hands down. High quality cuts of meat, plenty of usual cuts readily available in smaller quantities, lots of frozen items that are made in-house including all kinds of stocks and cuts, etc. Also have a full deli and enough items there that you don't necessarily have to make multiple stops. What really sets them apart though is the quality of customer service, ability to service just about any order, and their willingness to do things to customer specification including making meatball mix fresh to order along with several other items. It is a little bit expensive but the quality is certainly worth it. Clear upgrade over even the organic meat products available at Wegman's. This is exactly the kind of small, locally-owned family business I try to support instead of buying these items at a large grocery store. read more

This place is exceptional. I stopped in here yesterday because I'm visiting family in the area and I decided to make my grandmom her favorite last night -- rack of lamb. My dad had recommended Worrell's to me, so I decided that we would give it a try. Located right in the heart of Malvern, the location is in a convenient and easily accessible part of town. The shop itself is bigger than it looks from the outside and everything behind the counter looked amazing! We noticed immediately that everyone there was incredibly helpful and patient. When my grandmom saw that they had a frozen section, she had all sorts of questions about preparation that they took the time to answer. Everyone there was very friendly. She will be back next week to pick up some easy meals from Worrell's for when she has to cook at home alone. As far as the lamb goes, we originally thought we might need two racks but after seeing the size of one, we decided one would be just perfect! The racks were huge and they took the time to French it beautifully. When the man behind the counter brought it over, the customer in line next to me said that I should take a photo and send it into the paper -- it looked so great! The lamb was a little bit pricey, but well worth it. If you're going to cook something like rack of lamb, it's worth every penny to come to Worrell's for a quality cut. Last night, we prepared the lamb and my aunt and grandmom LOVED it! They said it was the best lamb they've had. I totally wish I could take credit and say that it was my cooking skills, but I definitely owe a ton of that credit to Worrell's and the quality of their meat. Next time I'm home and preparing a nice meal for my family, I'll know to come back to Worrell's! read more

These days an old fashioned butcher shop is hard to come by. Worrell's is the bomb! If you need a cut of meat for a special occasion - like a standing rib for Christmas, this is your place. Like the previous reviewer, not cheap, but really worth every penny for quality. I regularly order the sweet Italian "grillers" and I also buy bones for my dogs there that the butchers will cut to your specs. I was here recently needing 5 pounds of lean meat to make beef jerky. I went in around noon and it was not busy at all. The customer service was excellent and attentive. The butcher that took care of me knew what he was doing and even checked to make sure the thickness of the cut worked for me. The price is fair as well. I need to get more meat for beef jerky and I will definitely be going back here. Note: in addition to steaks, they have chicken, meatballs, cheeses, and deli meats just to name a few. Worrells offers all three of these in a world of supermarkets eliminating the meat counter and clueless employees. I was on the hunt for steak and chicken kabobs, preferably already assembled. Called Wegmans in Malvern and they had them so I stopped in. I did not like the looks of them at all so a Plan B was needed. I hit my Yelp app and found this wonderful store located only minutes away. The kind gentlemen on the phone explained they could cube up sirloin steak and chicken breast for me so I made a beeline to their store. It's a small spot, not a place wasted. Freezers and refrigerators stocked with goodies. A lunch meat counter. The centerpiece was the meat counter - 5-6 butchers working the busy store. The meat looks awesome (it's marinating as I write this in Michael Symons Ginger/Soy recipe and the chicken is marinating in a different fresh combination thanks to my lady's mad cooking skills). This hunter gatherer is happy he found this spot. No need to go anywhere else. read more

They have an assortment of meats and cuts you can get, plus they have packages which are great to order for big family gatherings or parties. I talked to them about a leg of lamb for Easter. I wanted locally sourced and they told me they get their lamb from either Lancaster County (right next door) or Colorado. Ok, even if CO still way better than getting it from half away around the globe. I asked for it to be de-boned, understanding I would be paying the full price of the boned in weight. Seemed fair to me. It was perfect, Perfect!!. The last globe trotter lamb I got I spent a lot of time cleaning it of excess fat and silver skin. I don't know if Worrell's cleaned this for me or not but I had very little to do. I put on my rub, tied it back up, cooked it, and it was awesome. Reminded me of the lamb I used to eat as a kid when lamb was raised much more in the US. Good job master butcher, I will come again. PS. They have a really good sage sausage in their freezer section.
