I had a tasteful chicken and vegetable soup and chicken salad sandwich, great Portions of salad. Kids had Mac and cheese and lasagne with salad. We all really enjoyed this place and for four of us less than 50 dollars. If you want a tasty lunch with a healthy twist, this is the place and the coffee to wash it down was smooth. Service spot in as well.. clearly a winner and although we are on vacation for a week, we agreed we wanted to come back again before leaving.

It was busy when we were in. We got what we paid for. This isn't the type of place I would normally choose to eat at and there weren't any vegan options on the menu so I got a summer salad without chicken or cheese. The salad was pretty small and was a typical one with lots of shredded iceberg lettuce and came with two little slices of bread on the side. The bread had a bit of sweetness and raisins in it. I personally prefer salads with at least mostly mixed greens or more spinach but iceberg gives a better profit margin. I saw this place had good reviews but nothing that I saw and what I ate - none of it really wowed me. It seemed like food that someone could easily make themselves at home. Overall it is a very cute little place with a very homey feel and the dinnerware they use is very colourful and cute. The service was good and the lady that brought our food to us was very nice and friendly.

On a recent trip to Kelowna we met with an old friend of ours who lives in Kelowna and we suggested dinner at Basil and Mint. After dinner our friend said that next time we should go to the Yacht Club with him for dinner. Our server Scott has been our server on previous occasions but this evening the service was not up to the usual standards. It was a busy evening but it took a long time for our entrees to arrive. We shared an order of escargot again but on the occasion the escargot were very small. Our entrees when they finally arrived consisted of a salmon special for our friend, chicken parmesan for my husband and beef short rib for myself. My husband found the chicken lacking in seasoning and flavour. My short rib was dry and stringy. It was terrible and definitely not worth the $42.00. When the server came with the pepper grinder and asked we wanted pepper we all responded yes. She did the pepper for my husband and myself and then walked away. We had to flag down another server to ask for pepper for our friend. When our friend left the table and Scott came by and asked how our dinners were we expressed our disappointment he just asked if we had been served the same meals on other occasions. Should this make a difference? You should be able to have consistently good food and it should not be dependent on what you order. We ordered crème brulee for dessert. It was so disappointing because we had suggested Basil and Mint to our friend. He did not comment on his meal but the fact that he suggested another restaurant for our next dinner speaks volumes. We might give Basil and Mint another try because we have had very good experiences before but they are no longer a must visit when we are in Kelowna.

We browsed through Google search for some hot soupy meals and came across TZone. You can never go wrong with ramen on a cold rainy day. I ordered the Ebi Mayo and a BBQ pork ramen because you have to have a classic tonkotsu when comparing ramen places and that was the closest I could get. Plus I love BBQ pork. The Ebis were surprisingly big and perfectly fried but I just remembered they were using Tiger shrimp so that makes sense I like the crispiness of the batter without it being oily at all. The mayo was quite spicy sooooo if you can't take spice I would ask for the sauce on the side. 5/5 The BBQ PORK RAMEN had chunks of BBQ pork instead of the classic thin slices of pork belly. I liked it for the slight char on the outside a and the tenderness of the pork on the inside. They managed to make it still melt in your mouth tender. Soup base was pretty solid with no MSG but it was with chicken broth! Ramen noodles were standard and cooked to al dente. 4/5 My friends ordered the chi-Ku-wa-crispy Japanese rolled fish cake with cream cheese inside and garlic mayo sauce. It was yummy with the spring of the fish cake and the creaminess of the cheese. I don't usually go to Asian restaurants when visiting Kelowna but this will now be our backup plan whenever we are craving some soupy noodles

I ordered the coconut Thai bowl ($15 plus tax) and my wife ordered the falafel mezze ($16 plus tax); our food was ready in under 10 minutes. Both dishes were generously portioned and well-constructed. Though the coconut Thai advertises kale as its first ingredient, you barely get any kale; instead you get mostly romaine -- seems misleadingly described to me. Other than that, there's a great array of raw veggies and fantastic garnishes -- the black sesame and peanut dressings go really well together. 4/5 The falafel mezze was also really nice, but only comes with two pieces of falafel! C'mon -- I hate when places do this; you'd expect a "falafel mezze" to have more than two pieces of falafel, wouldn't you? Other than this misleading description, the dish is very nicely constructed -- lots of greens, tasty beet and lentil hummus, a nice olive tapenade of some sort, cashew tzatziki, with a bed of quinoa, and dressed with a very tasty garlic almond dressing. Very tasty. 4/5 Other than the misleading dish names / descriptions, the food quality here is very high. A bit overpriced for what you get, but the food is fresh, well-portioned, and thoughtfully designed. Recommended.
