The best butchers in Wrexham! They have a very, very clean shop. The staff are always very clean,…read morethe meat is always very fresh. They make their own sausages and have won awards for them. They make a variety of flavoured sausages - I think the ones that won the award contained chives. I have tried their sausages and they are delicious. They are such a high proportion of meat - hardly any fat comes out when you cook them. Their meat is also very tender - which is another requirement. The staff are also very friendly and pleasant and also can be humerous - which is nice. I would recommend this shop to anyone. Their prices are reasonable for such high quality.

This store is amazing. We were a bunch of Americans renting a place last Christmas in North Wales…read more I preordered an organic turkey, stuffing balls and the pork pies. When we got the shop we also bought quiches, gravy packets, and cranberry sauce. Everything was amazing. I just put butter, salt and pepper on the turkey and put it in an AGA (first time using one of those) and it came out perfect.

This is the butchers my mum-in-law has always used. I have been living in the US for seven years…read morenow, and recently went to my in-laws' for Christmas. I was sent to Hoptons for meat. The quality and selection was so high I couldn't believe my eyes. You see, in America, there are no butchers. They've been barred by the government. Only huge conglomerates are allowed to sell meat. I was used to grey beef, people going around saying how great a "hot dog" was, and paying upwards of $25 for a small piece of grass-fed sirloin (Yankees feed cattle corn and a cocktail of hormones/chemicals so they get very fat quickly). These folks are proper tradesmen, who clearly care deeply about the quality of their meat and service. I've never tasted better bacon, steak, or sausages. I kept going back. And, unlike in America, I didn't need to take out a loan to buy some quality food- this seemed to be the norm! I noticed that, when queuing (in the rain) for quite a while to pick up our Christmas orders, everyone was smiling and very happy. No one complained, all were only excited to be getting the best meat in Cheshire. Such a treat. Its amazing to think that people here in the States constantly crack jokes about how terrible the food is in the UK, when a little butcher in Hoole produces food that would make any NYC Michelin-starred chef weep with jealousy. I am heading back the Chester soon, and you can bet my tea will include plenty of cuts from Hopton's.

The store itself is of a good size, has a wide range of groceries, some are well known brands others are not english brands, and can take some working out, glad there are pictures on the products. The store has a fiar size fruit and veg section which is very good in price and certainly knocks spots off the competatiors. One negative I found was lack of staff on the shop floor as I came across a few items that were not priced and did not want to wait to the till point before asking. The staff at the till are friendly and helpful.
