Don't need to bore/gore you with the details, but I will say that all of my recent dental experiences have been way friendlier and less traumatic than what I can remember from my younger days visiting the dentist. I mean, did your dentist have flat screen tvs for you to watch while you got your tooth pulled? Main Street Smiles has it all. From a super friendly reception area to a charming office converted from a downtown home in main street Barrington, honestly, it feels less like going to the dentist and more like visiting a family member. For my procedures, I had Dr. Pattani, and he immediately put me at ease by confirming the procedures involved, showing me detailed images, and sharing how routine an extraction/implant procedure actually is. My endodontist mentioned that my case might be a bit more complicated, but Dr. Pattani did his due diligence, exploring, researching, and ultimately coming to his own conclusion as to what treatment/next steps were needed. Following the first major procedure, he personally checked on me several times to make sure my recovery was going well. In my case, I had very little pain and I'm eager to see the results of the implant take hold in future visits. It's all smiles for me here. And yes, those flat screen TVs are for real. I am so happy I gave them a try as my experiences with the entire practice and staff have been absolutely amazing! Dr. John Mannelly is an excellent and experienced dentist! When I first started going to him he repaired some old dental work which was my start in knowing how excellent of a dentist he is since he did such a great job! From there I trusted him with an Invisalign program and after 8 months my crowded teeth are straight! I never had braces as a child and decided to do this for my teeth and gum health and self confidence as well. Afterwards I had Zoom whitening done on them and I couldn't be happier with the results! Dr. Mannelly is so very nice and professional and well educated and it is a pleasure to have someone as awesome as him taking care of my teeth and gum health and smile! His assistant Gladys is amazing as well! She is very skilled in her work and is so kind and nice and caring! I have gone to dentists that were cheaper for my two crowns however I ended up having major problems and had to have them redone several times. If I would have came here first I could have saved myself a lot of frustration and money. My completed crowns look great. Cleanings: Donna is an exceptional hygienists and has the awards to prove it. Be aware that a cleaning is more like a complete check up not just a quick clean, it is extremely thorough. Both she and Dr. Tehle are very gentle and patient and explain what they are doing as they go, in a very calming way. I had a dental implant done at Barrington Dental Wellness Center in July 2025, and it has been one…read moreof the worst medical experiences of my life. Since that procedure, I have lived with constant pain, burning, and pressure at the implant site. I understand that complications can sometimes happen - nerve irritation or damage is a known risk - but that is not why I am writing this review. What truly deserves 0 stars is how I was treated after I reported the problem. From the moment I first mentioned my pain, Dr. Ferdkoff was dismissive, unempathetic, and condescending. I can still remember him smirking while I was trying to explain what I was going through - as if my suffering was an inconvenience to him. When I asked questions, he brushed them off and told me that "some people just have that problem" and that I'd have to live with it. No concern. No effort to help. No compassion. During my final appointment in December 2025, I tried on the permanent crown, but it looked completely wrong - the color and shape were off. I told them I wasn't satisfied, so they screwed the temporary crown back on instead. Two days later, the pain became so intense that I ended up in the emergency room. That was the breaking point for me, and I knew I would never return to that clinic again. Thankfully, I was later able to get a refund and continue my treatment elsewhere. My new provider - a board-certified Orofacial Pain Specialist - confirmed that I had sustained nerve damage from the implant procedure. He advised removing the permanent crown and replacing it with a healing cap to reduce the pressure. He explained that the implant itself was placed close to a nerve and that removing it entirely could make things worse. He has since put me on nerve pain medication to manage the damage done. To make matters worse, I later discovered that the Glidewell implant system used by Barrington Dental Wellness Center is a budget option that many quality clinics do not even work with. My current dentist had to order special tools just to remove or adjust my crown because they didn't have compatible parts in office. I called Barrington to see if they could help remove the crown sooner, and their response was appalling. First, I was told I'd been "removed as a patient." Then, after multiple calls, Dr. Ferdkoff himself refused to help because he "didn't agree" with the specialist's recommendation - even though I was in pain and simply asking for temporary relief. His exact stance: not his problem. I have never written a review in my life, but this experience shook my faith in the medical profession. I trusted this clinic with my health and was treated like a nuisance once they got paid. Barrington Dental Wellness Center and Dr. Ferdkoff showed me what happens when profit comes before patients. If you value compassion, professionalism, and basic human decency, stay away from this place.
