I bought 2 trees from these people. I had their "arborist" come out and recommended the placement and types of trees to plant. My only requirements were for no mess, no seed pods and no volunteers. The Kentucky Coffee Tree they planted has been nothing but trouble. These trees do have seed pods, they shed lots of small branches and there are suckers popping up also. I finally got tired of the mess. I cut the tree down, ground the stump and dug up all the roots I could find. Two years later I still have suckers coming up every week, even in my neighbors yard. We have been lawn care customers of Wright Outdoor Solutions since 2019, but no more! In the spring of 2021, we had to call THEM to ask when they would be starting our fertilizer and weed control service. They said they were too busy to get to us for crabgrass pre-emergent and it was too late anyway. They did say that they could apply it in the fall. They did graciously agree to put us on the schedule for fertilizer treatments and weed control. After several of their routine treatments, our lawn was out of control by July. Dead spots everywhere and crabgrass has taken over. When a Wright employee showed up in August for a treatment, I asked what he was applying. He said fertilizer and weed killer. I told him we had weeds everywhere and he replied that this treatment would help. Four weeks later the weeds are flourishing and the crabgrass has taken over. Whatever they put down seemed to help the weeds and hurt the grass. Or maybe it was just water he sprayed on our lawn and then charged us $80. In 2019 and 2020, we tried to use them for planting advice and landscaping. They made us feel like we were bothering them to do any services, and when they did come out, they didn't do anything close to what was promised. After receiving and returning a proposal I had to call to find out when the job was to be completed. I was given a date and time of 7:45. I had cars moved (including a problematic neighbor) and waited for Wright to arrive. Nothing by 8:00 so I called the contact and left a message. I then called the office and was told that they have safety meetings on Monday so they would be late but would be there. You think they would have told me this with the promise of arrival time. Still nobody by 9:30 but then received a call from my first message at 8:00 and was told a foreman had a family emergency and there small bucket truck was broke down. When I asked if they had more then one I was told yes but they are assigned to "Holiday Lights". Wright could not provide a "Solution" to my inconvenience and wasted time but said they could try again in four days. They had no consideration for my time or effort nor any respect for their own proposal/contract. I contacted another service and they came out that day to complete the work at the same price. Wright did call that evening to say they repaired their bucket truck and could complete the job the next day. Too late. Too many excuses and very unreliable. read more

Had a landscaping project that I needed help on, so call Wright's. They sent a person out on July 17. We went over the options for the project, made some decisions said that they would get back with proposal in a few days. A month late I contacted them since I had not heard anything. They responded they would have proposal the next day. Finally after another month past, I contacted owner who indicated she would give us a discount with proposal the would be sent that same day. Proposal was sent but was all wrong! Asked if they would come out again, which they did. New proposal came quickly be the labor cost was WAY OFF. When I brought it to their attention, they did correct it. By then it was Early October. Knowing that it now would be next spring before project is started, decided to go with someone else. Wright's is ok for buying plants but don't have them for landscaping, you will be disappointed! read more

Should have read the yelp reviews before choosing Wright. We needed ash trees removed from our yard and got a quote from Wright in June. We agreed to do the work and we were told we would be on the schedule for sometime in early to mid October. Today is Nov. 4 so it is way past the time frame. We went ahead and hired someone else because we figured Wright wasn't coming. We then got an email last night that said they were coming to cut the trees TODAY?! Less than 12 hrs notice. My husband immediately emailed back to cancel but they didn't read it or see it and they then show up to my house when no one is home this morning. They got no answer at the door and our back yard is fully gated in and they think that is a green light to go ahead and work in the yard. My husband then had to call the company to tell the workers to stop and they said they'd call him back and then never did. After 90 years in the supposed business you'd think that they would communicate better. Whoever does the scheduling and communication should be fired. The contract we signed said that we needed to cancel within 7 days but when we are not given even 12 hrs notice how do they expect us to adhere to that timeframe. Also there wasn't even a time of the day listed in the email notice either. Would never recommend them to anyone, was referred by a family member but I will not be going with them for anything. read more

I contracted Wright Outdoor to conduct a fall leaf clean up at my home in West Des Moines, and I couldn't have been happier. I contacted the office and an Account Manager provided me a proposal that same day. The price was fair and competitive. I authorized the proposal online and the scheduling office notified me that day as to when the crew would be out. The crew arrived when they said they would and did an extremely thorough job in removing all the leaves. The entire process was awesome. I will be using their services again. read more

They charged $500 for plan design that they said could be used as a credit towards trees. They didn't honor credit. Claimed they had no record - but I have the plan in my hand. Never got a call back from management. Too bad. I had a lot if work to be done. read more

They have done a lot of work for us over the years, everything from taking trees down in their entirety (including grinding out stumps) to seasonal pruning, and they are reasonably priced (not the cheapest, but far from the most expensive) and, more importantly to me, clean workers who don't leave behind tons of trimmings, branches, etc. when they are finished (which happened with two other tree services I have used through the years). They are also extremely friendly and show up when they promise, which again, I have found to be sadly too rare in their industry. read more

Go somewhere else... They are terrible! We have used wright two different times. Once in the fall 2014 and once spring/summer 2015. We were please with the work in 2014 which is why we went back in 2015. The experience in 2015 was horrible. They didn't follow up when they said they would. When they did finally do the work is was shoddy and not overseen well at all. The plants look terrible to start with and were in some case barely planted below ground. We had plants that were planted right next to each other (not only did it look silly, it was clear that one or both plants were going to die.) When we called to complain we received deniability and no results. The last straw was when they surprising said they were coming out to replace a few plants that did not survive the winter (one year warranty). We told them which ones and the arborist acknowledged she understood. Instead of replacing the dead plants they removed heathy plants and planted new once in their spot and left the dead ones. Again when ask about it, the arborist claimed that she directed the staff to replace the correct plants. We asked for answers but of course they are now not responding. read more

I have been with Wright Outdoor Solution for a few years, the service was great, the price was reasonable. In October 2014 I received a letter stating they made mistake by doing an over-application, however, they promised they would do everything right to get it fixed for me. They even had an agent come out to look at my lawn to see what needs to be done. The bottom line, my grass was burnt, there were spots with no grass at all effective Spring 2015. They promised they would do reseeding as well as 2 free applications in Spring 2015 to see if the condition of the lawn improves. They've done what was promised, the lawn improved slightly, however, it wasn't restored to the original condition for which they cared for a few years. I spoke with their Vice President and asked him to lay new grass and the condition that I asked was mid May. Someone from the office contacted me the following day and they agreed. They asked me to mark my irrigation heads so they wouldn't damage it and someone will be out to lay new grass within a few days. However, they kept delaying the process stating many people were affected and I am next in line, however, because of the rain in Des Moines their contractor is delayed. It's mid July, the rain has stopped for a month now, I am yet to hear back from them. I removed my irrigation markings at this point since it makes it difficult to mow the grass I have recovered and I will find another company. Just wanted to share my experience with Wright Outdoor Solutions, after all, they attempted to do it right but failed. UPDATE: Wright Outdoor Solutions contacted me!
