After passing many restaurants on our walk to the Maspalomas Dunes at sunset, on our way back Hugo…read moreD and I chose Calma Chicha. Luckily we snagged the last table without a dinner reservation. While this place has an intimate dining room probably for the winter months, in summer service is only outside with full coverage umbrellas. Unlike many of the typical old school restaurants along Avenida de Tirajana, it's contemporary in a clean boho setting with many live plants and cacti. For starters Hugo chose a tasty Scallops Carpaccio while I went for an equally delicious Fungui Porcini & Mushroom Carpaccio. Both were beautifully plated. I had to try Grilled Canarian Friesian Entrecôte due to its unusual provenance. It was grilled medium rare as ordered and came sliced. Seasoned well, very tasty and I couldn't believe I finished it all. We loved our waiter; he was attentive, friendly and fun, even though he was extremely busy as all the tables were full. Calma Chicha is definitely on our list to return.

This is one of the best places to go to eat in Playa Del Ingles and the surrounding area (at least…read morefor me). It does NOT have plastic tables nor plastic chairs. You get a complimentary glass of cava too! We read about this place on TA and decided to check it out. A few tables, remember to make a reservation here! Nice ambience and decor inside the restaurant. It doesn't look much from the outside, but it gets better once you get down to the main dining room. Appetizers looked really good. We had fish for starter. Nom! And for main we did the lamb, but I was not so happy with the look of that. Meat was tender and good, but the sides were really boring. I would recommend you to try something else for a main. Desserts looked good as well and I did the chocolate fondant (they have named it something else) and it was good. All the melted choco from the centre. Overall - good service. Prices are ok. Food ok (plus for starter, little minus for boring and a bit bland main). Ok winelist as well. Oh yes - PLUS for menu in only English and French. Goodbye Norwegian menus!

I love Restaurant Le Bistrot D'Alain in Los Christianos. It's unashamedly french, providing…read morespecials in french on a blackboard in addition to the printed menu (in many languages).I've been going here for many years, it's one of the first French restaurants I ever visited in Tenerife and I keep going back. It's cosy, the food is classic french and well prepared. Steaks are always perfect, soups are full of flavour, salads are classic and wonderfully dressed. Blackboard specials are a real treat, with snails, rabbit, foie gras and scallops frequently available. Desserts are simple, classic and delicious. I've had the occasional disappointing dish, much the same as with frequent visits to any restaurant, but given the number of times I've eaten here, this pales beside the number of fabulous meals. Always book, and earlier is better because as the evening wears on and Alain is overloaded with orders things can get slow - he's in the kitchen on his own.(Sorry Alain) If you want to make a night of it then you wont mind this though. I can't recommend this restaurant enough. I know it's not Canarian, but if you eat French just once in Tenerife it should be here. Superb it just has to be 5 Stars!!!!!!!!!!1

Originally owned by the celebrated 'chef Alain' and now run following his retirement by an enthusiastic compatriot who relocated from Paris to Tenerife after the financial crash and who relishes the pace and quality of life here enormously. If you hanker for an authentic gourmet experience amid all the tapas and paella, or just fancy a change, take your palate on a trip to Alain's Bistro and savour the flavour. The rabbit and sole meunière are especially good, but the menu is varied and tempting enough to easily justify several return trips. As this was only our first visit we have awarded 4 richly deserved stars but look forward to making it 5 next time.
