The food here is fantastic, it's casual fine dining that's heavy on the seafood or at least it was when we ate here. I was a little intimidated by the menu but quality goes a long way - I tried the tripe starter and the octopus for my main and both were delicious. The true star, however, was the Lemon foam dessert - so light and flavorful and it looked just like a lemon! The service is great as is the ambiance. Yelp Review #800! To celebrate, I'm posting a 5-star review of LoLa Casual Fine Dining, hands down the best restaurant we dined in Maspalomas, Gran Canaria. It's popular so reservations are a must. The restaurant is intimate and has a beautiful, open and well designed dining room. Even so, Hugo D and I chose to sit on the outdoor patio under clear evening skies. Guests tend to dress a bit better at this restaurant, so don't really run in here in a-shirts/tank tops and flip flops. Service is 5-star amazing. I could not believe how one waiter, sometimes two, were able to efficiently cover all the tables, taking orders, pouring wine, bussing, and still have time to be professional, friendly and cordial. They know their stuff. The owner is also super friendly! LoLa is a foodie's delight. Every dish came out like a work of art. Tastebuds exploded with both familiar and unique flavors. We were so impressed that we returned on our last night at the same table (and I had the same entree)! We were both amazed by our Octopus Carpaccio. Sliced so delicately yet powerfully tasty! The Beetroot came in a beautiful fuchsia swirl. The Salmon Sashimi was probably the most gorgeously plated dish of all, with 3-D microgreens and edible flowers. So delicious! Hugo loved his Iberia Pork Filet main dish (and his Octopus Teriyaki the second visit). I thought nothing beat the Lamb Shoulder which I had both nights. The lamb was perfection. Whatever you like for dessert, make sure Lemon is one of them. A smashing success, and a perfect ending to a smashingly successful dinner (twice)! The wine list is not extensive, but it does have something for everyone. We were able to taste-test prior to the full glass pours. My favorite was a full-bodied Rioja, Marqués de Victoria Crianza 2021. We were grateful to the owner who gave us an extra pour to keep us around! By the time you read this, the menu probably will have seasonally changed. But I'm sure the creative inventiveness and taste remains. LoLa is definitely worth an evening out! read more

Located away from the beach, tucked away in the Yumbo Shopping Center is the best restaurant I experienced on the island. LoLa is a hidden gem, emphasis on the hidden. Walking around the shopping center with no signage, it is difficult to find this place, but worth the effort. You'll want to make a reservation, the place turned away many parties and would fill up completely in its first hour open. Though popular, it isn't elitist, you can wear casual clothing and feel comfortable here. Service is extremely attentive and friendly, filled with recommendations. Bread and libations came quickly. They know their wine and source ingredients as local as possible with a menu that changes every three months. A complimentary appetizer was the first to the table - the Tortilla Española, or Spanish omelet, was a delicate morsel with fabulous texture and a powerful sauce. Next, our own choice of appetizer was crispy fried goat cheese with caramelized pear, beetroot sauce, and black olive powder. Each ingredient was so clean and crisp, with such a beautiful presentation. We tried two seafood items as mains, and they were perfectly portioned. Skate-fish wings were unbeknownst to us, even the process of eating them was new and our waiter showed us how to skim the meat off of the bone. Light and flaky, the meat was similar to scallop in taste, cooked with cappers, brown butter & purple aubergine, and cabbage cream - this was a delicious and memorable dish. I cannot quite agree withe the enthusiastic 5-star reviews posted here. While the service and attention by the staff are noticeably good, the food (mullet, lamb) was only o.k., the bread dry-ish, and the dessert a bit pretentious in its decoration, compared to the substance. While all this, and also the wine, would still warrant 4 stars, the lack of comfort (hard garden chairs) and plastic outside wall (where we sat), shaking and moaning in the breeze, do not add to the dining pleasure. You feel like you are sitting in a tent, and for that you have to pay quite a lot of money. Casual dining - yes, Lola offers that. Fine dining - perhaps less so. read more
