We were fortunate enough to have Chris as our tour guide on a Friday afternoon in April. My boyfriend and I were doubly as lucky to have him all to ourselves! The tour starts at the middle school where the future of Wynwood, as we know it today, begins. The history of Wynwood is so incredibly rich and deserving of telling/knowing. The rise, fall and re-rise of this small part of the big city is deep and interesting. I learned so much from this tour and was so impressed. We left not only more knowledgeable about Wynwood, but art and street art as a whole. I now look forward to seeing graffiti art here in New York to be able to point out differences and lookout for "28" haha. Besides the history, the art itself is breathtaking. The talent and level of skill it takes to have created some of these pieces with spray paint is unfathomable. The artwork changes frequently, so that is something to consider. No one tour is alike. We've been to the Wynwood Walls several times before, but we always left feeing hot, tired, and like we only saw 1/10th of the art. What a relief to find Wynwood Buggies! Our guide showed us street after street of street art masterpieces and explained who the artist was, where they were from, and when the art piece was painted. The guide stopped whenever we wanted/needed to take pictures and even gave us a used (depressurized) souvenir spray paint can! Highly recommend! We were visiting the neighborhood for the first time and never would have had the same experience by walking around ourselves to view the murals. Luciana was a great tour guide for the mural tour, and it was such an informative, fun and great way to see many murals in this area. Truth be told I was initially a little skeptical of taking a golf cart tour but we covered so much more ground this way, and it was a wonderful, and good value experience. We had the owner of Wynwood Buggies give us a tour of the area and he was super nice, knowledgable and generous with his time; allowing us to stop for photos and ask as many questions as we liked. Getting taken around on a nice golf cart was awesome as we were able to cover way more ground that way vs walking around. This was definitely the highlight of my trip to Miami. I left feeling like I knew way more about this city, the impact of the art scene and the importance of such an area as the Wynwood District. We absolutely loved this tour it was a lot of fun we saw many amazing murals on a much wider range then we could have on foot and our guide Christian was interesting and knowledgeable, explaining the origin of street art in general and how it came about in this area and the many changes it has brought. I highly recommend it to see the street art from the people who actually make it and are Personally involved in it. If I had to do over again I would've stayed afterward for some of the very cool restaurants that have gone up in this area now. Don't miss this. Diego was such an outstanding guide. He was very down to earth, friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. He was punctual in picking us up from the start point. He shared so much insight on the murals and other pieces. He stopped and even reversing at times to allow us the opportunity to take pictures and even allowing us time to take pictures in front of them. He offered to take us to get drinks which was so unexpected. He also took pictures of us together on our personal phones. My family (with an 11 year old and 14 year old) thoroughly enjoyed our tour and our tour guide Sandro was like a walking encyclopedia.! He has so much knowledge on the content and was available for questions and open discussion. Had the best tour with Leonardo! Our kids initially were making fun of us when we told them that we were going on a buggy tour - they said we could just walk it! But omg! This was best move ever! Leonardo drove us all around Wynwood- thru the back alleys telling us the history of the city - showing us the coolest walls off the beaten path! We even met one of the artists who is a Wynwood legend! We were even able to stop and and take a picture with him! We had such a great day, saw amazing art and learned all about the amazing artists from around the world who come to paint in Wynwood!
