Wynwood had surely changed over the last five years with residential high rise buildings popping up everywhere with limited street parking. Highly recommend that everyone visiting the Wynwood area use ride-share. If you start noticing large murals of colorful graffiti on walls then you know you arrived in Wynwood. A few places we visited include Wynwood Jungle, Wynwood Walls, The Salty Donut and Cerveceria La Tropical with a few boutique and gift shops. Sadly J Wakefield Brewing is gone. The best miami vibe in my opinion. I love the neighborhood, the art during the day, and the night time scene as well. It's a great spot for brunch, there seems to be always something going on. On a random day in December there was a Hispanic festival and a Marc Jacobs sample sale. read more

So much fun times in Wynwood. Had lunch at Coyo Tacos and a donut for dessert at Voodoo. Did some shopping a a couple boutiques and went to the Mana Center for Ballon Art pop-up venue. Took a lot of pictures of the wall art around Wynwood and a bit stressful finding parking. This has become a destination for tourists visiting Miami. read more

Artsy neighborhood with street/graffiti art everywhere you turn. Lots of cute cafes, restaurant, and shopping. You will also find food truck parks here. There is so much to do in walking distance that you can spend a few days here and not get bored. Wynwood is busy, especially on weekends; paid parking is the norm, so factor that into your visit budget, or consider rideshares/public transport if you prefer not to deal with parking. I recommend avoiding parking on 2nd on a busy day. Also check out Freebee, it's a free rideshare service for this area. read more

My absolute favorite place in all of down south and Miami. I cannot come home and visit without coming here. I miss it so much sometimes just coming down the block and discovering someone's creative thoughts and taking in your own perception of it. So much street art without the illegal issues. I always take a detour to Wynwood just to look at the amazing murals here. There are blocks and blocks of them. It would take me hours to see them all at one time, so I just see them piecemeal. When you get tired, there are many restaurants and bars in the area so that you can take a break. Many restaurants are covered in graffiti also. I've been coming to Wynwood for years. I love that this area showcases a different side and personality of Miami. Wynwood is located more in the downtown area of Miami, so it's not close to the bustle of South Beach/Miami Beach. There's blocks on blocks of spray painted street art and graffiti. It's definitely top notch and captivating. Nearly every street or wall is covered in art. It's nice to go there for a solo trip or even with friends to go observe art and people watch. I love that each wall is something different, colorful, and can tell a story/message. Something about Wynwood just inspires me to be more creative or innovative. There's also many great spots for dining and drinks as well. Be mindful of parking as there's some street parking (pay through a parking app) and also some lots that you can pay via a parking app as well. Make sure you wear your walking shoes if you plan on spending some time out there as you can wander around through different streets/blocks of art. read more

Love Wynwood. So much to see. It's almost overwhelming. Although Wynwood is quite a hike for us, it's worth it for the art and food scene. You can walk around Wynwood and just admire all the colorful murals located around every corner. Everything here is "Instagrammable". There are always new restaurants, bars, bakeries and coffee spots opening up here. Some days I wish we lived closer to Miami and Wynwood because of the food scene, but then again I"m saving so much money and calories not having it be so accessible too. Hahah. read more

The Wynwood art district is a must-see if you are visiting Miami. Blocks upon blocks of this popular neighborhood are covered with street art of all kinds. Nearly every building and business boasts a colorful, whimsical painting. The area is very lively and there seems to be lots of great local places to shop and dine as well. I wandered around on my own and was able to see some incredible art. They do have guided tours, as well as the Wynwood Walls ticketed experience, which I didn't opt for. I think a tour would've been nice to get a little more background on the artists and also some guidance on where to see the best pieces. Still, you can definitely have a great experience browsing on your own for free. read more

A nice neighborhood to see free art on buildings. If you like grunge and need an escape from boujee areas in Miami this is your place. There's a couple homeless people but they keep to themselves from what I observe. There's wynwood walls where you can pay to your art but I'd rather just walk around and see the free stuff it all looks the same read more

This last weekend, I went to the Wynwood arts district for the first time. What a collection of top notch wall art. Colorful, insightful, many with a message, many with a story behind them. Back in the 1970s, Wynwood was a collection of aging warehouses. That was, until the early 2000's, when entrepreneur, historic preservationist, developer, restaurateur, hotelier and a patron of the arts, Tony Goldman, saw its potential. The man behind the revival of SoHo and South Beach, Tony Goldman focused his company, Goldman Properties, on turning this failing neighborhood into a cultural oasis. Opening with Art Basel 2009, Wynwood Walls was Goldman's vision for an open-air art gallery brought to life. That later blossomed into a greater neighborhood of art appreciation, and Wynwood's monthly art walks confirmed the creator's vision for a neighborhood that would become a canvas for urban street art. Today, Wynwood is pedestrian-friendly, and includes art everywhere you turn. While the Wynwood Walls themselves are carefully preserved, buildings surrounding the park are covered in murals that constantly change as artists come and go through Wynwood to find inspiration. When you visit Wynwood Walls, you'll get a taste of Miami's divers art world. Adorned in everything from life-sized murals of the Dalai Lama and graffiti quotes to abstract paintings and out-of-this-world sculptures, Wynwood Walls is as unique as it is creative. The most popular time to visit is on the second Saturday of every month, during Wynwood Art Walk. This monthly event turns the entire Wynwood Arts District into a late-night street party and arts festival with food trucks, live music, and art galleries staying open late and handing out drinks. Wynwood is great. It's the reason why I moved off the beach to Buena Vista, to be close to this area! I used to go out a lot at the time and frequent all fun spots in the area. Today it's hardly like back then. Not only bars and clubs, but venues and restaurants and coffee places etc. added on. Wynwood Yard and Swamp / Marketplace became an awesome addition. Uber headquarters located them even in the neighborhood. Everything to offer in this little famous neighborhood! every local and tourist should be here, to watch murals, dine or have a fun night out! Plenty of street parking and parking lots! And don't forget the monthly Art Walks! read more

Wynwood has quickly become a must-see destination. When I first started coming here in 2011-2012 it was all grunge and edges and Counter-Miami. Fast forward 6 years and the edges have all been worn away, the grunge replaced by carefully curated "debris". It's still a great place to bring your out of town guests. An excellent spot to stop for a beer at myriad taprooms. But now you will have to contend with buses offloading tourists and minivans dropping off post-millennials. Fun, but no longer counter. Wynwood is still an exciting place to hang out but I must say it has lost some of its thrill over the years. I never felt the area was dangerous per say, even back then. However, now its missing that swagger that it once had. That feeling that anything could happen there; in abroad daylight or decidedly after midnight, has been worn away with the crowds and the inevitable gentrification. Wynwood is now fully viable and it has the cottage industry to prove it. High priced clothing shops are sandwiched in with ice cream parlors and one coffee shop after the other. The King, Panther Coffee is still presiding over the realm, but even he has been repainted a drab brown. On the far end of the land sits the queen, O Cinema. Like her counterpart she has been recast, this time in stark white. But the changes have been needed to fuel the machine. To make Wynwood develop into a true section of town with its own personality and staying power. These changes have allowed the area to thrive and grow. So, it's not what it once was but it is viable. Living. Growing. Feel free to come by and have some fun. Or just drop the kids off. read more

This area is very artsy fartsy. I like all the colorful murals and stores. Each wall is unique and carries a variety of colors. It's very pleasing to the eyes to wander from one street to the next not knowing what style of art is going to pop up. There is plenty to eat around here and also there are a lot of cute little boutiques where you can buy trinkets and special gifts. My friend and I wandered around this area for a few days and didn't get bored of it. It's such an arts district and I would like to come back to do some more exploration the next time I visit again. read more

If you are not an artist or artistic, even if you don't understand art ..if you have a free morning or afternoon for walk and you like treasure hunt..this is the best one I was ever on. I made a research day before so I would at least know names and artists of some of the murals, and I took my teenagers there to surprise them and open their imaginations. There isn't a differentiation (on Yelp) between Wynwood Art Walls, and the neighborhood that is Wynwood itself- The Wynwood Art District. Wynwood art Walls consists solely of the murals within the block that entity incorporates, but doesn't even touch on the plethora of art that adorns this neighborhood. What is now a bustling tourist destination of galleries, boutiques, hip restaurants and the aforementioned street art, was once a neighborhood home to Caribbean immigrants and part of the third largest garment district in the country, which employed a lot of those local immigrants. Many businesses in the mid 1900's built their manufacturing warehouses in Wynwood, including Coca Cola. As the area grew in popularity, and commercial rent increased, manufacturers moved out to make way for more retail in the 80's. This exodus took the area from a middle class neighborhood, to more of a lower middle class area. Fast Forward to the early 2000's, when the real estate visionary Tony Goldman (who allowed NYC's Bowery Mural wall to flourish, and helped to revive both SOHO and South Beach) took an interest in the area. He and his children began buying up areas in Wynwood, and in 2009, Goldman had the idea of an open air art gallery of murals, that became the Wynwood Walls, which opened to coincide with Art Basel. It was Goldmans dream of a neighborhood that was essentially a blank canvas, which has now become the reality of The Wynwood Arts District; the monthly Art Walk ton he second Saturday of each month, also played a big part. Goldmans vision, literally revitalized an entire neighborhood of dilapidated buildings, to a premiere destination for creativity, culinary innovation, fashion, and of course art. Wynwood is now home to over 400 businesses, 70+ galleries, and more than 200 murals by renowned artists from all over the planet. The murals are in constant flux, so it's worth coming to Wynwood anytime that you're in Miami. So if you want to see some of the worlds greatest street art, don't just limit yourself to the Wynwood Art Walls- venture out into the neighborhood, and help support the area that supports so many artists, by giving them a showcase to flourish. read more
