Zero STARS TERRIBLE PEOPLE RUN THIS PLACE! The salesman is a pushy hot head, My wife and I were actually there to buy some art but for some reason he couldn't just let us look around. He asked very rude strange questions. As soon as we sat down to look around in a room, the salesman very rudely asked us if we just came in to " lounge around on our chairs." Told us "We couldn't afford anything." Even worst he called me an A hole when I asked if he "was having a bad day." His guy must not be making very many sales because all my friends and their wives that went into the store just moments before we did, told us the a similar story. Sad because we all got great pieces just down the road not from this place. We go to the north shore 2-4 times per year and were previous customers. We will never be returning. Sad to see bad sales people like that. read more

What a cool gallery! Honestly, what drew me into this joint was the photo cutout stand by the entrance of the gallery! I guess you can say I'm a sucka for a funny photo op.! Anyways, after having my friend take a few photo's of me (I actually took 2 different photos) as the cutout stand was double sided, and you could take a photo on either side, I decided to walk around the gallery to look at the beautiful artwork. It appears that a lot of the artwork hangin' on the walls were photographic printwork and I must say the pictures were very impressive. I also liked the ukulele display mounted on the wall, as I recently contemplated on taking up ukulele one day when I have more free time for myself. Regardless, if you're planning on buying (the stuff here is rather pricey), or if you're like me who just wandered in here unexpected, and decided to look around & appreciate the beautiful artwork here....................... Do you like art? Local art? Various mediums of art? Well, this is an awesome place to check out! Went to 4 places to help my mom look for a gift and we found the perfect item here. The nice (and cute!) man who was working was just completely laid back and hospitable. I mean, what's not to like about a local guy in shorts and tank walking around barefoot. He also has a friendly dog who greets you when you come in. I'm a little scared of dogs that are taller than my knee so this guy was really cool to have his dog sit on the side so we could browse the gallery. I really like the show rooms that focused on different artists and I know if we were interested in any of the larger pieces we would have gotten the whole explanation with the special lighting and whatnot. Well, my mom had a budget and a mission so the big pieces were not in today's shopping. I like that there are original works of art (of all sizes and mediums) and many of them could be found in print form. I liked reading the artist info on the back of the prints and we found a unique gift. It is a picture by Eva Makk on a satin lined box. I'm not sure what material the box is made of but I really liked the piece we chose. The boxes caught my attention first and there were 4 pictures on the boxes to choose from. It is called "Challenge" and depicts a canoe team rowing in the ocean with a beautiful sunset... or I suppose it could be sunrise too. After choosing the box and taking a walk around the store I found a couple of other photographs of the island's beauty (mountains, waterfalls, ocean) that caught my attention. I know my mom wants to get a specific photo or painting of a particular view of the Waianae mountain range so it was talked about while we were there. When my mom was getting rung up, we continued talking story with our gracious host and there was a portrait at the counter. Naturally she asked who it was. The guy says, my grandpa Wyland. So of course the question was what is your name? Brian (Wyland) and he shared that his uncle is the famous painter who makes the Wyland walls that I love. Then I asked how long his store has been around and he shares that he opened the store about 6 years ago. After a little more conversation, come to find out that he is the photographer of the photos I was admiring! Wow, such talent! And he owns the store so that explains his knowledge and the helpfulness he had with us. Best part about this whole experience was the ease of our conversation while we looked for just the right gift and met a very nice and talented man. So yeah, feeling a little sheepish about checking out the cute guy with the dog who was helping us. If you are in the market for nice art, definitely check this place out and look for Brian to help you out! I'm sure I'll be stopping in again when I'm up in Haleiwa! read more

YAY I'm a fan! This gallery hosts a bunch of different artists, not only Wyland. If you don't know the amazing story of Wyland, do some research online. His story will really surprise you. He didn't even grow up around water! We visited this Gallery last week and was immediately greeted warmly by a gentleman whose name I forgot but I remember that he lived in Europe before coming back home to Hawaii. I was joking wth him about either taking that trip to Europe or buying that $3,500 picture of a hula girl in the forest. We can't afford either, actually...but just looking! No one was overly pushy in this store. They just let us browse, which we appreciated. read more

I'm a professional and published artist. Art is about sharing and giving people a positive experience by in large. These guys are rude and respecters of persons. They're missing the entire point of art. As one artist to another, pull your art out of this gallery. They're doing you (and the public) a huge disservice. read more

Walked inside the store with the intent to buy some art, however as soon as we walked inside the lady working immediately started following us.Every turn we took, she was behind us, watching every move we took (and it wasn't because she was trying to help us). It seemed as if she was paranoid and didn't want us there. We felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable that we immediately walked out the store through the back door. The art was beautiful and we did get to enjoy the paintings for that minute or so we were inside. read more

A great start has ended up poorly. We had a lovely experience in this gallery. We went through a pleasant process of choosing a cool wave art glass sculpture. It was pretty expensive, so we took our time and chose the best one for us out of a series of eight or so. All was fine until it arrived cracked inside. We communicated right away, and sent them extremely detailed images of the damage the day we unpacked it. The salesman promised he would take care of it via phone. He called me a week later and then tried to convince us the holes and crack were there, even though we so carefully chose it spanning an hour in the gallery, under rotating, and also still, bright examination lights at close range on Oahu. We clearly pointed out again that it was not this way when we bought it, and again asked them to review our many close ups that clearly showed the damage (with arrows and graphics with many close-ups, making it obvious). It was as though he had not seen them even though we sent them twice including to his direct & the main business email. A woman on another call there claimed to me on the phone that no glass art has ever been damaged in their history during shipping. You would think that they would be professional about it if this was the first time... nope. Now it is over month later and they decided to ignore my emails and phone messages to get this art returned. My next step had to be to contact our bank and cancel this charge. This is the worst follow up to sale ever in an art gallery for us. We want only what we paid for. Nothing more. In our experience, they went from a cool gallery to awful. They are hoping we "go away" by ignoring us. They have done everything poorly since we received the damaged piece, ensuring we will tell the accurate story here and they will lose many times the business they would have lost by being straight-up and professional. What good is cool art if you don't stand behind your words, and endeavor to build short and long term trust with customers? read more

My boyfriend and I had such a great experience at Wy's gallery today. The sales associate went above and beyond to educate us about the different artists, art types, and ways by which the artists created their work. She was kind enough to take a few pieces off the wall and let us view them in a private viewing area and manipulated the lighting levels to showcase different aspects of the piece. My favorite piece was one of Pele "Creating" fire and lava. It was seriously stunning. This place, whether or not you decide to buy, is an experience. The sales people aren't pushy, but rather informative, and are happy to educate customers on art. We were grateful to happen to pop in here and see what's new in the art world. My girlfriend tried to show her mother 2 different pictures so she could pick which one to get and the owner got very upset and nearly cried to his buddy about it.. all of these other 1 star reviews for a bad staff is true .. they don't deserve to profit on the Hawaiian land read more

I came into the gallery looking to buy a small print of art because I knew I couldn't afford anything bigger. A piece caught my eye and I decided to ask the salesman if they had any small prints by the same artist. Instead of helping me find a small print like I had asked for, he directed me towards a far more expensive aluminumprint that was obviously out of my price range. When given the price, I made it clear that I didn't have the means to purchase it. He then began to put pressure on me to spend the money. After multiple attempts at saying no, I explained that I couldnt purchase the piece due to student loans. His response was "skip a payment". At this point I felt so uncomfortable I left the store. The art was beautiful, the service was not. read more

My last few experiences with Wy's Gallery has earned it 2 stars! I received no follow through on information regarding an art piece I was interested in from Heather who promised twice to call me back. Very frustrating, poor customer service! Jaw dropping gorgeous pieces. I only wish I had the disposable income to invest in a couple pieces for our home. Friendly staff- I think he was the owners nephew or something. I am convinced the gallery does not read these reviews. Why else is the blonde lady still there? As other reviewers have mentioned the lady at the front was extremely rude and quiet frankly does not belong in a place like Hawaii. My husband and I stopped by a few days ago and asked for a particular type of art. She snapped saying "They are all like that!" No lady, they are not. If you knew anything about art, you would know they aren't. Someone needs to smack some Aloha spirit into this bish. read more

Wow, run away from this gallery like the plague. My wife and I were enjoying the art on display and took our time to walk and admire the different pieces in the gallery when we made it to the end the employee proceeded to rudely approach us and let us know "we've been chilling a while..." as if we needed to flee and get out of the store. We were there for no more than 20 minutes and I was seriously contemplating purchasing a local artist's work but was very turned off by the employees approach. If you are someone who does not appreciate art but just wants a piece of paper and doesn't want to take time to appreciate the gallery I recommend this business. They will gladly take your money but not your time or presence. read more

(This is closer to 3.5 stars to me.) Wy's showcases really unique art from a number of artists. There are many different styles of artwork, mostly for hanging on walls but also including a few sculptures. When I visited, one artist in particular whose work caught my eye did beautifully colored prints on aluminum, as well as UV-etched 'paintings' on wood. The gallery itself is impressive; it's a decent-sized space done up with beautiful lighting and with a very pretty wraparound staircase at the front entrance. Sales happen occasionally on various artists' work, which the friendly, helpful staff will tell you about. read more

This is a great gallery with a great location. We love to go here if we have time before we can be seated somewhere nearby, or get ice cream next door afterwards. We always love going in here. The employees have all been great and treat you like familu, but can still be a little on the pushy side. We love seeing all of Dennis Mathewson's work here, he's our fav! read more

You'll see the store is stunning as soon as you walk in. They cover a wide range of art genres from photo, metal work and handmade fine furniture to glass-work and jewelry. Not everything is $$$$ either. The owner is very friendly as well as the sales people. I highly recommend going in and seeing for yourself. read more
