She helped my 11-year-old son with the Warhammer tiny models, taking the time to explain everything needed to get started in painting. Her thorough and detailed explanations really made a difference. Ever since they closed their Mililani location, this location at pearlridge is unfortunately the last store standing. Located in Pearlridge Mauka, near Macys, this store is open 10 AM to 8 PM daily except on Sundays when they close at 6. They are an anime store, with a lot of inventory of toys, action figures, and other type of collectibles. They are on the more expensive side, but tbh honest what isn't? You may find a better deal at maybe animation magic upstairs but I feel like Mini Q has a better selection and is geared more towards anime. The workers there are also very nice and helpful. Just as a tip, I just call them to ask if they have what I want in their store or something equivalent. They offer good recommendations when possible and even suggested I check out Razor when they didn't have the item I wanted in stock. read more

First off, I have actually been shopping here since they first opened in Mililani Mauka. This specific issue only started when they moved to Pearlridge Mall. I was hesitant on posting this review, but unfortunately this certain situation keeps on happening and I am not going to stand for it anymore. Me and my partner frequently go to this shop whenever we are wondering the mall, and almost every time we have gone and shopped, we are almost ALWAYS being watched... it is very disturbing and disappointing seeing that it seems like they are profiling us. Things to note about us: my partner ALWAYS wears small fanny packs, and me, a purse that is closed at all times. We wear casual clothes, and yet, they continue to stare at us, and follow us around the store. Of course, we had NO INTENTIONS of stealing, and yet them watching us makes us feel like criminals. There should not be an excuse of the employees being "too shy" because this is inappropriate behavior, and again, makes me feel very uncomfortable, leading me to my next point. I will no longer shop here again. The amount of times we have caught employees literally WATCHING US is unacceptable, especially since I have previously worked retail myself, and am always frustrated with theft as well, but just choosing random people to watch without any actual ques or a real reason is just disgusting. There are things that you are trained to watch for when you work in retail, and it seems like there is a lack of that. It makes me sad because I loved your products and what you had to offer, but I am sorry, if I can't shop here without being watched like a hawk, then I can just take my business elsewhere. Please train your employees better and train them correctly on watching for theft in the right way. I hope no one else has to experience this. :( read more

Shopping at Pearlridge Center, "Uptown" (mauka side), Aiea, O'ahu, Hawai'i... Since we had free parking in the shade by Macy's, we really explored all of the shops that carried cute merchandise. Mini Q is on the ground level and has SO MUCH variety! It was overwhelming! I didn't know most of the anime figures. There were some helpful employees roaming the floor. I asked about one unboxed "Big Into Energy" Labubu that was in a cellophane package, enclosed in a glass display case. Her name is Love. The price was a bit high, so she's authentic... and - if I got her - I wouldn't be guessing about which one I would be getting... I'll think about it... LOL! read more

Located across from Torrid in the Macy's side of Pearlridge. Two men were at the front of the store, one on a ladder. The older one was not welcoming just muttered "entering the store." I wasn't sure if it was okay to enter. The younger one was more congenial. I asked,"Do you have Labubu outfits?" He said,"No just accessories." I asked where is it and he showed me a case. There were a few miniature eye glasses and I saw a hat. Beneath that shelf were a limited amount of Labubus. They had a lot of inventory of items to purchase of perhaps collectibles. This is my first time stepping foot into this cute and dangerous store... just dangerous for my wallet. Thankfully you don't need to be an anime fan to shop in here. They had stationery, stickers, keychains, tote bags, gundam, sanrio, pokemon, blind boxes, etc. Some things were a little pricey, but I found some cute notepads for $4 which was pretty reasonable. I also found tsum tsum washi tape for $4.95 which was a good price as most washi tape is $5+. I wanted a lot of other cute things like tote bags and some blind boxes, but my wallet said no lol. I love seeing these kinds of stores inside malls. Malls need something different from the typical chain stores! MiniQ has pretty much anything you could be looking for like Pokémon, gundam, Sanrio, tottoro, etc. You don't have to be an anime fan to find something you love. I wandered in there today looking for a figurine for a Christmas present. I know absolutely nothing about gundam but had a picture of some kind of character that I was in search for. The owner asked me if I needed help and helped guide me towards the right product. He even tried to explain the series and characters and their suits to me. I felt a little bad since I still didn't really understand and he had other customers in the store but I went with his recommendation cuz he definitely knew what he was talking about. I also wanted something they didn't have at the store but had at their storage site. He offered to bring it to the store the next day or ship it to me which I was pleasantly surprised about. I wandered around the store and found stickers I had to get plus a Pokémon set for another gift. 5 stars for the inventory and for the owners passion for the store. I was so excited to see a shop like MiniQ here in Pearlridge because we don't have anything like this in Utah! They have a vast amount of anime collectables to sift through. I'm pretty sure I spent an hour in here the first time I came (yes, we did a second visit before I left because... BLIND BAGS). They have an entire wall full of blind bags at different prices. Nendos, look ups, figures, plushies, keychains, stickers, you name it, they have it. They are a little bit on the pricier side from what I've noticed price wise, which is why I knocked a star, but you're supporting local and international shipping costs. My daughter loves this store. She wanted to buy a couple of things here. They have a lot of Japanese anime stuff. I'm not into that but they also had some Hello Kitty, My Melody and stuff I was familiar with. My daughter knows her stuff and got exactly what she wanted for a price. To me, I think this store is pricey but I get it because there are a lot of collectibles here. Some are also locked up in a glass case. There's a guy walking around if you need assistance. The inside was neat and clean. Really organized and things were easy to find. We come here occasionally when my daughter is in the mood to get some cool stuff. Every time I come to Pearlridge now I have to stop at MiniQ. I used to go to their old location in Aiea, but this one is so much larger and better stocked. This place has a great selection of different anime figures, stationary, keychains/pins, blinds and models. I can find some keychains from rather older or obscure anime every once in a while which is neat. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. They are constantly getting new products in so it's best to go in often or keep up to date on their Instagram. Let's be real, I know absolutely NOTHING about anime or Pokémon or dragon ballz but my son loves Pokémon right now. Luckily for me, Tommy (EXCELLENT customer service by the way!) was so informative and was so good at answering all of my sons bazillion questions and showed his everything Pokémon that he wanted to see. This store is fun. This is the spot if you're into anime, manga or looking for a unique Japanese trinket. Roaming around the store and looking at all the items reminded me of Akihabara but much more organized and spacious lol. They have everything from Demon Slayer items to Gundam to those plastic dolls for you sukebe ones. I was stoked to find some Danboard figurines there. The staff was super friendly and helpful. I love the fact that they carry items - not just for the guys - but for the gals and even kids. MiniQ is located on the bottom floor of the Aiea Town Center, a small shopping plaza across the Aiea Medical building. This is the original MiniQ location... There is a newer store located in Mililani. As you enter, you notice immediately that the shelves around the perimeter of the store are filled with miniature figurines. From various Japanese anime, to Sanrio and Disney. There is definitely something for everyone. Many of the miniatures are packaged as "blind boxes," so you don't know which figure from the particular set you will end up with... Other merchandise include Japan imported plushies, stickers, and a variety of other knick knacks. They carry a selection of trading cards, too. If you are into model building and such, MiniQ has all sorts of kits and accessories- different paints, brushes, etc... They even hold events for model kit building at their Mililani store. The store owner is very nice! He is extremely personable and encourages customers to take their time browsing the selections. Such a wonderful little store filled with so many adorable products! It was... fine. I'm no pro anime fan, but I was looking for some cute Pokémon plushies, which they were inconveniently out of. Also nearly everything is overpriced and of cheap quality. They sold me this one perpetual calendar for 70 bucks, however when I looked online for the same product, the going price was around 50. However, all these things in mind, it was an alright experience UP UNTIL THE END WHEN WE PAID... They don't have bags so get ready to carry your mini collectibles out of the store and pray that they don't fall. Very nice customer service. Imported goods from Japan that explains the sometimes unbelievable pricing. That's how they have been because Japan is big on this stuff. What helps to justify it is the much better quality of the products sold. It is interesting to see how a Japan retailer would setup shop. Way different than here in the states. I'm not much of a fan of comic manga anime type things.... but I do have sons, so sometimes I am required to go into stores like this. The store is small, but it is packed with stuff. Literally everything cartoony that you can think of.... lots and lots of stuff! My kids could spend hours in here just looking around. My favorite thing about the store? I don't know if he is the owner or an employee, but the same guy is here every time we go and he is so nice to my kids. They are 5 and 11.... one is hyper and insane and the other has Aspergers. Great model and collectible shop at Pearlridge Center. Had a lot of items to look at. However, my main reason going to the shop was for paint for my 3D printed Star Wars ornament. I have not painted a 3D object. The staff was friendly but this one guy who looks like the owner or manager was very very helpful and friendly. There were so many choices of paint brands and colors. He helped me identifying the correct paint. He helped me understand types of brushes. He also was patient and kind to teach me better techniques to paint my ornament. Can I give this place more stars?? First off, I remember when these guys were still a tent at the swap meet, and now here they are with their own air-conditioned, display-case packed, colourful store that I hope to see succeed for a long time. The owner is amazing, one of the friendliest guys I have ever met, and he knows his stuff! We chat about new anime and figure releases, all kinds of stuff. He even says hi at conventions, haha. He'll let my husband and I know if there's anything coming out that we might be interested in, and also offers pre-orders through the store if you're anticipating an upcoming release. The prices are pretty fair to moderately expensive, but that's all to be expected in the figure market. Considering the price is pretty high anyway, depending on the manufacturer and quality, and shipping from Japan is factored in, the prices aren't too bad at all. Mini-Q is NOT one of those bootleg stores, they stock the legit imports from Japan. Kotobukiya. Figma. Nendoroid. Even the Gachapon finds are legit. You name it, they got it. Even if you're looking for something frillier, with less rockets or Spears of Longinus, Mini-Q also stocks plushies, car decals, various accessories, Sanrio, and Rement items (great for crafters looking for deco pieces). Edit: I did not expect my review to be this LONG, but I really wanted to explain my experience there! Yesterday my son wanted the new Pokémon set that came out, so we went to Pearlridge and found this shop that had boxes coming in today. At the time they were still waiting for their shipment to arrive. But before we found out that their shipment had not arrived yet we were looking around the store and found that it was very NEAT, CLEAN, and MOST IMPORTANTLY THEIR STAFF TEAM MEMBERS WERE VERY VERY COURTEOUS AND HELPFUL!!! While my son and I was waiting in line to see if they had any of the brand new Pokémon boxes a girl and I am Very SORRY that I can't remember their names they worked between 2:00pm until closing on Friday. The girl came up to us and asked if we needed help with anything and I asked if they had the new Pokémon booster box in stock, she then told me that they didn't have it in BUT they were expecting their shipment to come in sometime soon. She also has explained to me that I could pre-pay foe the box and when it came in they would call me to let me know that it was in. So she took my information down and I went to pay. The cashier Lex I believe is his name and is the only one I can remember because in my receipt there was his name. I also purchased a smaller box of Pokémon cards that they had in stock and it was a little big of a box. When I was paying for the booster and this other box, I forgot to ask for a bag so that my son could hold his Pokémon box. I realized that I needed a bag after I had paid with my CC and Lex offered me a bag anyways and had said that I could just give them the money for the bag on a later date or when I came back to pick up the booster box. We live in town and we were only there to get some exercise and walk around and to see if anyplace had that new booster box. Before we left I double checked if the boxes had arrived and it did not so went home. I got a text about an hour or so later and it said that the box was there and I could pick it up anytime I wanted to. Even at the store when I explained to them that I lived in town and that I was hoping that their delivery would come in before we went home. They had assured me that I had no worries and that I could come back anytime I wanted to and the box would be there for my son. So after I got the text at first I was going to go on Saturday to get the box but I knew my son was every excited to get the box, so we went back right after dinner. We got there just around 7:00pm and when we went into Pearlridge I noticed that all the stores were closed. I didn't know that the stores except the restaurants there all closed at 7:00pm. We still decided to see if they were open and luckily when we got there they were still open! We went in and they greeted us and the girl who earlier took my information remembered us and told I think who was the manager that we had prepaid for a booster box. Before he went into the back I remembered about the money for the bag that ingot earlier and gave him back the money, at first he didn't want to take the money but I insisted even though the bag was a few cents I wanted to make sure that I paid them back. The guy came out with the box and then he also gave my son a poster! My son was very excited! BUT while this is going on it is past 7:00pm and what they DID NOT do was rush us out! They were VERY VERY COURTEOUS and DIDNT make us feel like they wanted us to hurry up. Instead they made us feel like it was normal busniess hours and even kept on taking with us and another customer who was there. At NO time did they make us feel like we needed to hurry up! What really impressed me was that all the other stores were already closed and I only can assume that those other stores most likely tried to rush their customers out so that they could close. Mini Q is a hobby shop that has models from Japan like Gundam and other like models. They also have the paints and other things to help make your model the best looking! They also had a variety of other card games like Magic and other I never even heard of. They were mostly from Japan. I am very SORRY that I made this review this long BUT I felt that I had to explain everything so everyone knows that THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO TO if you like buiding and modeling your Gundam models, and MORE IMPORTANTLY this is a place where the team members make you feel like they want you there and that they are not workers who are just there for a pay check and that they CARE ABOUT ALL THEIR CUSTOMERS! I happened across this MiniQ location after running an errand next door. I had been to the Mililani location before, so I was surprised to see the owner at the register of this location. Apparently, he splits his time between his two stores. Dedication! He was just as friendly and genuinely curious about my interests as he was the time I visited his Mililani store. Even though he was in the middle of doing inventory, he took the time to show me all the cat merchandise he had on display. I purchased a couple of small plush cats that look like they were meant to be used as purse accessories. After explaining that I was interested in hanging them inside my car, he mentioned that he sold small suction cups that are pretty hard to find -- the box retailers usually carry standard-sized ones. This place caught my eye on the way to lunch, so I went to check it out with my coworkers after eating (it was right across the street). This store is similar to Toys N Joys in that it sells anime figurines and collectibles. The main difference is that MiniQ specializes in miniature collectibles (big head, small body). They also have a lot of anime cellphone straps, key chains, and car decals. The store isn't very big, but it is packed with goods on display. Everything is arranged neatly. There weren't any visible prices on the collectibles in the display cases so I wasn't sure if they were for sale or display only. We chatted with the owner (I think) for a little bit and he sounded like a passionate collector. If you collect miniature figurines, this store is totally worth checking out. Went here on 6/28/13. Had to pass the time while waiting for a UYE at Ken Nae's. The shop is a little on the small side, but it's packed with a lot of anime mercandise, as well as non-anime goods(Batman,Ironman,Bruce Lee) figures. This store could compete with Toys and Joys if you're looking for anime figures and other collectibles. All in all, a very positive experience and I will come back again to actually buy something next time. I give this place 4 stars. I would like to it 5 stars but I cannot based on the size of the store being small, which can make manuvering around a challenge if the store gets crowded.
