I normally don't post reviews, but after my experience with Xander Law Group I believe other business owners should understand what working with Xander Law Group can look like. My company purchased a used vacuum truck from a Miami dealer called National Truck Center, which sells refurbished trucks that originally came from fleets like Ryder and Penske. The truck was marketed as a ready-to-work vacuum truck. Within three days of owning it, the engine completely failed and required a full rebuild. The truck then sat for roughly six months while the engine was rebuilt. After trying to resolve the issue directly with National Truck Center, I contacted Xander Law Group to discuss whether I had a case. I was told the case was strong and that pursuing legal action made sense. Based on that advice, I retained the firm. What followed over the next two years was extremely frustrating. During that time I paid roughly $40,000 in legal fees while the case slowly moved along. Communication was inconsistent. Many times the only time I heard from Xander Law Group was when an invoice was due. After paying an invoice, we would suddenly schedule depositions or meetings where the same documentation would be requested again. I was asked for the same documents multiple times throughout the case despite having already provided them. At one point an invoice increased from roughly $2,200 to nearly $10,000 in a matter of days following a brief Zoom meeting. As the case progressed, the cost projections escalated dramatically. Eventually Xander Law Group informed me that moving forward with trial would require a trial retainer of approximately $70,000-$80,000 for what was described as a one-to-three-day trial. By that point I had already spent tens of thousands of dollars over nearly two years on a lawsuit involving a truck that originally cost around $150,000. To make matters worse, after additional mechanical inspections it became clear that the truck itself had deeper issues. The chassis, weight ratings, and configuration appeared mismatched for the size of the vacuum tank that had been installed. The truck suffered another major engine failure again in July and is currently being rebuilt for a second time after the underlying issue was finally diagnosed. In the end, after two years of litigation and substantial legal fees, the case resulted in a judgment for legal fees which I ultimately paid simply to close the matter and move on with running my business. Litigation is always risky and every case is different. But based on my experience with Xander Law Group, the process became extremely expensive, communication was inconsistent, and the outcome was the complete opposite of what I expected when I first retained the firm. Over the next two years, almost everything I was told would happen turned out to be the opposite. The case dragged on, the same documents were requested multiple times, and legal fees kept increasing. At one point I was presented with a proposal for trial that required $70,000 up front for what was described as a 1-3 day trial. Considering the truck itself cost around $150,000, the potential legal fees would have been nearly the same as the asset we were fighting over. After two years of frustration, I decided I was done continuing down that path. Shortly after, I received a bill that jumped to $8,200, including roughly $6,000 for a short Zoom call. When I disputed the charges and declined to pay the amount I felt was unreasonable, the firm pursued a judgment for their legal fees. The amount ultimately increased to around $20,000, and because the judgment was filed against both me and my company, I eventually had to pay it to resolve the matter. My biggest issue with this experience wasn't just the cost -- it was the gap between what was initially communicated and what actually happened over the course of the case. If you're a business owner considering hiring legal counsel, my advice is to ask very detailed questions about billing, trial costs, and strategy before committing, and get everything in writing. I made the very costly, massive mistake of hiring Jason Weber for a startup business. He not only cost me a potential investor, he robbed me. I paid him a $5,000 non-refundable retainer for 8 documents. He delivered ONE of EIGHT simple business documents, & then he missed a deadline of paperwork- that I needed for a potential investor!- because he was "working on a trial" & admitted that he "went out drinking for stress relief" after court because he was "stressed out of his mind". Yes, in those words. It looked SO bad. It was beyond embarrassing & unprofessional. I immediately terminated his services & requested a refund right away, except for $750 to account for the ONE delivered document & 3-4 emails back and forth. It took him TWO WEEKS to even respond to me because I terminated him & he was "offended". I'm not exaggerating, I still have the emails. To this day, several YEARS later, he has never returned ONE penny of my money- that he didn't work for & got himself fired by missing a crucial deadline & being unprofessional. Of course I filed a bar complaint but, since it was a non-refundable retainer, they could only recommend mediation (how I didn't think to file for excessive fees at $5,000 for 1 document, I don't know but wish I had!). He blatantly, arrogantly refused mediation or anything- he knew he didn't HAVE to, so he didn't- & you can imagine what his character was like about it, too. I did not have money to pursue him further because of my startup business, so he just kept $4,250 that he didn't work for- & with no repercussions. Oh, it only gets better! Of course, I posted a review detailing my experience with him on avvo.com, which was obviously as negative as it gets- true to my experience with him, & he offered me $1,000 of the $4,250 owed back to me to take it down. HE actually TRIED TO BRIBE ME TO TAKE MY REVIEW DOWN!!! I still have the emails for that, too!!! AND, this happened while he literally tried to bully me- and my sister who is also an attorney!- into removing my honest review!! He was screaming at me on the phone, literally threatening me that he would "go to the ends of the Earth to sue" me "for smearing" him "if my review costed him one single client"!! Wow, I HAVE PROOF, Jason!!! Truly shameful. He somehow had my review taken down on Avvo. He probably threatened them successfully. It won't work with me! I certainly refused his bribe attempt as this was about principle- for ME, at least; NOT about being bribed to allow him to still keep over $3,000 of my money (if I'd accepted the $1,000 bribe) that he did NOTHING to earn and missed deadlines because he went out drinking! Of note, my sister, used to refer Jason business (that's how I got to him myself) and she stopped referring cases to him after the kind of attorney he proved himself to be with me as his client, & the way he also disrespected her when she tried to work as a mediator between him and I. I can't even describe what it was like listening to his "holier than God" attitude to both her & I; I was embarrassed for him. He literally said HIS "attorney time" was "more important" than our time! He was beyond rude, disrespectful, aggressive, constantly interrupted both of us when we were talking, & had zero interest in anything but what HE wanted to say-- the only thing he cared about was trying to get me to remove my online review about my experience with him. He definitely doesn't want the truth about him and he treated me out there! So much that he offered me $1,000 to take down my detailed experience with him from public access. Talk about unethical! I wish I knew back then what I know now as far as the Florida Bar goes, it would've been a very different outcome. I strongly advise you against giving Jason Weber a single penny. read more
