I do not recommend this internet provider at all. As soon as it snows, you lose Wi-Fi access for days. Their response time to send a technician is completely unreasonable -- often taking up to a week -- leaving us unable to work online or access essential services, despite paying 4x more than any competitor. Their pricing is outrageously high compared to other providers. The only reason we stayed with Explor was because no other company served our municipality at the time. We've since switched to EBOX, which offers faster service, better coverage, quicker response times, and more generous data and speed -- all for a quarter of the price. Customer service is soooo BAD l have decided to switch to Starlink. Xplore provided me with the original dish years ago and now have informed me they will cancel my service unless l get the new dish by the end of November. So l have made 3 trips to my secondary residents (2 hour drive each way) only to find out they refused to install the dish in the same location as they felt unsafe installing it. It has taken me days ofd my time to get all this done and arrangements including picture of the original install which they said was NO PROBLEM. I found out today (2 weeks later) that they WILL NOT install the new dish NOR will they take down the old dish they installed. BE AWARE of the agreement you sign with them. We live in Anola, MB and previously used Swift until they were bought out by Xplorenet. Since the transition, there has been nothing but CONSTANT connectivity issues and HORRENDOUS customer service. There was one time the internet was down for 2 days straight and no one from customer service would pick up the phone. After waiting on hold for hours for the 3rd day in a row, we finally got ahold of a rep who told us the soonest someone could be out to resolve the issue was in 1.5 months.... We've since sold our house and called today to cancel, only to be told by Caroline with customer service that the equipment we purchased from Swift (for $1200) would be collected from our roof despite us owning it... she then proceeded to hang up on us when we asked questions. I have had internet here, at this house for 17 years or so. About a week ago my internet speed went from 8 or 9 MB to .5 MB...not even one. My system was supposable UPGRADED a year or so ago. I called and got someone who SAID he was in Ontario. I could only understand about half he was saying. He could barely speak English. He told my my internet connection had bee FLGGED and needed to be changed from a tower to satellite. I have to PAY 149.00 + tax and my monthly charge will go up from 92.00 to 129.00. My sister's house is lees than 100 FEET from me , she has the EXACT same setup and hers works fine. My brother lives a quarter mile from me....SAME EXACT setup...works fine but MINE must be replaced. OVER and OVER and OVER this stuff has happen with this company. They even tried to charge me for an upgrade i didn't ask for, Then they turned my receiver while doing the upgrade and tried to charge me 139.00 to come back and turn it back to the tower I WAS ALREADY ON BEFORE THEY CAME. They will NOT answer you in email form because they don't want a printed record of the bullshit they are hoping you will take......they know some people like the elderly can't change to star link. THESE PEOPLE ARE CROOKS....go to star link. It is 3 times faster, good customer service, email them and they answer and then CALL to help you. horrible customer service. I've been trying to pay my account for over a month. When I email customer service, I get a standard copy/paste reply and am told that since I'm not the primary account holder and only an "authorized user" on the account, they can't help me log in. I have never had problems when I call in for help but apparently on email, they can't help. So, in this month that I've been trying to pay them, they decided to shut my internet off. I run a business from home and need the internet. I have told them several times that I can't have my service disrupted because my business relies on the internet. Absolutely horrendous customer service! There is no communication whatsoever. I had xplore installed, they charged me $159 to install it, it was horrible quality so a couple weeks later they came out to "fix it" and charged me an additional $159. It was still really choppy and slow even though it was supposed to be the best option. So I cancelled my service with them and they told me they would keep my account open for a couple months in case I wanted to come back so it would be "convenient" for me without telling me that if I didn't call and recancel something I had already cancelled, they would start charging me again. So they charged me $106 for 6 days of "use" even though I had nothing of their hooked up. I was asked how to return their equipment and they said I would either need to pay someone $150 to remove it for me or I would have to go on my two storey house roof and remove it myself or get charged $500 for not returning it in 30 days.... These guys are the BIGGEST scammers I have ever met!!!! read more

absolutely disgusted with this company and their customer service. My father is in his 80s and has Parkinson's. He has been a customer of Xplore net since 2014. In his current condition he has to sell his house and move into a home for the elderly. He called to cancel because of this and they want to charge him 125$ to cancel. He was understandably upset and asked me to call with his account number and password. I called and they wouldn't help me because I was not on the account. I asked him to call and add me. He did this and I called back. When I tried to cancel they said no because I was added only as a user and not an owner. I asked why he would be charged since he has been a customer for over 9 years. Apparently, they prey on old people. they called my dad in 2021 and told him he would get a free month of service. little did he know that that entailed starting a whole new 2 year contract with them. At this point the contract expires in a month. He called and told them he did not want to extend his contract. They said they would send him a box so he can go on the roof and take down all the equipment and ship it back to them or he will be charged. What kind of company treats an invalid senior in this fashion after paying them for close to 10 years. Shame on them. read more

Had to cancel the internet service at a cottage as it was sold. I was never made aware at the initial sign up process that the outdoor equipment had to be returned once service was cancelled. Only when the box arrived to ship the "equipment" ( I had removed the indoor equipment from the sold property ) did it say that they only wanted the outdoor equipment back... I've finally given up on this company. Service interruptions were so frequent, and then to top it off, their 4g tower service was discontinued. They switched me to satellite but didn't tell me that it would result in a way worse latency rate--making telework (video and phone calls) impossible. It has had a huge impact on me. Their customer service is also terrible. I frequently have had to wait 30 - 60 minutes for a customer rep when I call the help line. They don't seem to care about their customers. Although Xplornet has crappy service, I have to update my review of them. Although it took 3.5 years of putting up with the slow speeds (maxing out at 5mbps and paying for "up to 50mbps") and numerous phone calls, and several modem changes later, the tech based out of Belleville finally got it right, and we're experiencing speeds up to 50mbps. Not changing my mind tho, still going with Starlink once it ships! read more

No Loyalty to Customers I am currently the IT tech for my church who has been using Xplore since they purchased Swift in 2021. We originally had Xplornet when we first got internet at our church as they were the only provider in the area. Even back then, they would overload their towers, so in the evenings when we would need the internet it may as well have not been working. Then along comes Swift who's promise was to never overload their towers, and they kept their promise. Then Xplornet comes along in 2021 and purchases Swift and their entire network. Service continues to be good until early 2024 when we start seeing drops in service. May 5, we received an email to say that they will be discontinuing our service as of June 24. This starts a slew of multiple phone calls and emails to find out what is going on. When calling tech support, once they realize that this is a commercial account, we are transferred to the business support. After a couple of emails with a client rep, we are informed that actually the tower we are connected with is going to be kept for the commercial connections. August 6, we get a notice that the legacy system we are connected with is being shutdown on August 30. August 16, receive a final notice that the legacy system is now being shutdown on August 26 Cue the call to support, select call back, which turns into a 45 minute call Support says there is nothing we can do, a rep will call me While on the call, am informed that actually the tower is being shutdown on October 30 August 21, Still waiting for the rep to call Conclusion: Back in May we were given the option to stay with Xplore, install and set up new hardware: $17,000, Monthly fee $629+tax for 100/100Mbps service. I will not fault the tech support with Xplore, I am a tech myself and the ones I have spoken with on the phone were great. The company on the other hand I absolutely despise, they bought out all the competition, overloaded their systems, and way overpriced everything. One of my friends has the Xplore 5G LTE and he can't even watch a streaming service, their new system is absolute garbage. I don't like saying this but the company deserves to shut down, I do feel sorry for all the employees when this happens. read more

where are the negative stars? GARBAGE....to sum Xplornet up in a word. I had xplorenet a couple years back. During the 2 years I was stuck with them dew to no competition there were constant outages (as much as 1-2 days worth a week), very low speeds (they advertised up to 50 Mbps and I vary rarely got much above 2 Mbps. We couldn't stream more then one Netflix show at once in the house. I was told by one of their staff that my broadband was being throttled because we were using too much even though I was paying for "unlimited". Absolutely awful customer service!!! Rude on the phone! Long story short, I was charged over $400 for internet and their equipment on our unoccupied rental property. They were not understanding and didn't care that internet wasn't even being used and I was never made aware of their cancelation policies (all equipment has to be returned or payed for in full) . BUYER BEWARE... PlanHub rates Xplornet a 5 out of 5 as of 2020 on BING. This is false on both scores. You'd think they would want to be real and fix their customer service issues by not giving misleading information? I put up with many customer service agents doing a "reboot" at the tower. Put up with offers to hang on. Discounts to consider and yeah, I gave them the chances to "retain" me through the CUSTOMER LOYALTY department even though I contracted and installed a useable a new service provider - "We'll give you free internet until we get this right". Suggesting that when their NEW systems are in place, they'd give us a better deal than with my new provider - SO, no cost to me? I opted to wait and see. Well, charging me $19.00 is not FREE. Dozens of calls to get service that will keep my business going have been losing efforts. Finally after: 1. not getting a call back when I wanted to cancel. 2. getting disconnected after a 14 minute wait time 3. a gentleman who wasn't a "3 free months" salesperson like his colleague was, backdated the bill cancellation - no fuss/no muss. This company is very poorly run and you don't even get close to the level of service that you pay for. Customer service wait times are regularly 1 plus hours to finally take to someone that can't help you. Speeds for internet at 1-4 mbps when you are paying for 25 mbps. I've tried just about every available internet service and I can say with great confidence that XPLORNET is the worst for several reasons: 1. It takes approximately 45 to 60 seconds to download each webpage which may not seem like a long time, but when you're doing several, it ends up wasting an enormous number of your productive hours. 2. Streaming video (NETFLIX or YouTube) is virtually impossible due to the painfully slow speed. Incredibly frustrating! 3. After I canceled XPLORNET shortly after ordering it, the company required that I climb up on my roof to retrieve the satellite receiver, something I wouldn't dream of doing due to the danger element and risk to my personal safety. They refused to send a technician to do this and promptly put a $250 unauthorized charge on my credit card for "unreturned equipment". Wonderful company. Run!! dealing with this company now for the second time. Not that I wanted too, but they bought my provider. First round was the horrendous speed, Netflix barely ran or none stop buffering. A year of asking never got better. always some excuse. Round two is far worse, speed is better. But they billed me 3x for install. monthly charge is $49.99, but billed $77.32 1month, $79.99 next. Plus they claim over $500 in overage. The plan is 350GB, my average is around 220GB. The xbox shows usage and shows 243GB. Xplornet is claiming, suddenly I used 3x my average 709GB, xbox says otherwise. In short SCAM, none of their numbers make sense, come close to promised amount. I suspect I will be going to court with Xplornet, so far, not interested in proof or explaining their billing. I never had an issue with CCI but since Xplornet took over I have not had a single day with good working Wifi. I went six days of September with working Wifi and was told I will no longer have issues when they "fix" the problem. And that I'd get no issues using an xplornet antenna and router. But nope it lasted a week and it's out and the only time the only company can fix it is October 5 (who is unreliable and rude) read more

This company should not even be allowed to operate. After dealing with absolutely garbage service for a few months, I went through the process of cancelling. I'd actually rather have no internet at all then deal with xplornet, and that's where I am now months later. Months after cancelling I recieve a call from collections for an $800 bill for some apparent equipment that I rented. The equipment they used was already on the property I purchased from the previous owner. I have never rented equipment from xplornet. After hours on the phone, they admitted to it being their fault and said they would clear up the issue. I just now recieved an email from another collections agency for a $350 bill. This company is criminal, and I hope nobody else makes the same mistakes I have. I now have to live with a horrible credit rating for who knows how long all because of this. Makes me sick. read more

Poor company. Tried to cancel within 30 day trial and got transferred to a department that never came to the phone. I was on the phone waiting for 40 minutes and hung up. Don't try them as you can't cancel . Contract says you must call the phone number but you can't talk to anyone to cancel. Terrible company to deal with. Just finally got my contract canceled after several phone calls over the period of a month. Was with them for 2 decades and when I finally sign on with someone else it's turns out like canceling a gym membership. Keep me on hold for two hours then I get a recorded message that the department is closing for the day and I'm not offered a call back or any other type of correspondence. When I finally talk to someone that can help me and get it done I am told it will be canceled tomorrow and that tomorrow will be the final billing day. Apparently nothing can be done because I didn't try hard enough after my first correspondence so billed another 130 for a service I had already asked for a disconnect. I do not recommend. Speed was never even close to advertised and data caps were low as well. read more

I was an Xplornet customer for over a decade. It was not by choice but by necessity as there were no other alternatives. In October 2021 they disconnected my service and no amount of pleading would make them alter their decision. I was left with no service. (lousy or not) In todays world one has difficulty in accessing even government services let alone banking or communication with friends and family. This was done in the midst of covid restrictions and in my mind as a vulnerable senior put me at risk. Apparently my trees were given as a reason. Mind you they only misbehaved between 4 to 9 PM. The rest of the day they weren't a problem and minded their P's and Q's. I was going to bitterly complain but now think I should send the a thank you note for freeing me from their penury I now have Starlink and enjoying the best internet I have ever, experienced. Have been with xplore net for over ten years, had lighting strike take out my tower and I called tech service, soonest they could send a tech was 3 weeks, waited patiently for them when the day came the tech came to my yard and left a note that I wasn't home, no phone call or knock at the door. Called tech support and they said I would only get rescheduled in another 3 weeks. There is no support for any of there products, but they are always calling friends and neighbors to sell them service. Don't bother with these guys just get a starlink. Terrible internet service. They're down 10-20% of the time, the latency spikes between 200-300+MS while trying to play online games. When they go down, they're slow to fix it. Going to switch soon.
