No libations around here so how about stopping into my favorite place for a can of Luck's beans and an ice cold Coke? You won't find better people. Location... Location...Location is the number one rule in business and this one doesn't have it. They do however have an owner that cares enough to serve the community in a location that is, at least, important to him. Out of the way, off the beaten path, a roadside place in an area without a busy road in site. Do a favor and give business to a place that doesn't have to do business. Without these small local businesses, a 20 mile drive will be your only option for the simple necessities of life.

The store shows its age, there are things placed here and there, so remember to take a good look, you might actually find what you've been looking for. It's always nice when you accidentally run across something you haven't seen in 40+ years. That's how I felt about Shelton's Store. It reminded me of my local convenience store in my neighborhood when I was 5 years old. If I had a dime, it magically turned into a candy bar once inside the store. :)

It has charm and character you won't find in a Shell or Speedway. There is usually a group of regulars hanging out at the front chatting. The store is surprisingly large but dark and pretty dusty. The variety of items on the shelves is actually pretty funny and some of them look like they have been there for 40+ years. The couple that runs the place keeps a notebook with all transactions hand written in it. You can get homemade deli sandwiches on the super soft white bread that sticks to the roof of your mouth when you take a bite. Nothing fancy but it's nice to get lunch for 2 for less than $10 anywhere these days. They serve breakfast as well but I haven't made it in to try that yet. They also sell fuel but you can't pay at the pump. I would find that annoying some places but it just makes sense here. Unfortunately, there aren't a lot of places left like Shelton's.

The snacks/ drinks/ candies had a huge selection and specially items flavors of popular brands that you can't get at a regular grocery store, as well as the classics we all know and love. Anything you could possibly need for any good road trip you can find at this Love's. They had all the right adapters/ chargers and extras. They even had a wall with model cars that were very cool. Furthermore the owner and manager are also rude. The owner has way to serious of an attitude which makes him hard to talk to about stocking something you continually need and would buy there. One of the other employees has horrible hygiene and can be seen smoking outside of the store at any given time. That employee once falsley accused me of yelling at the employee who uses his bird finger to ring you up. The store doesn't have prices on anything and the register doesn't display your total as the cashier is ringing you up. In fact, your total is never displayed and they never give you a reciept. The store is conveniently located but the convenience they offer isn't worth being disrespected.
