Never thought it would grow on me. It's beer Bloody-Mary-ish! Got home, hubby cracked some open and to our surprise pretty good comparably. Sol was a $1 less per can too! Instead of continuing to monitor the old bush orders email address and notifying customers of this change, they allowed it to become an email black hole. After my second order attempt in months, I called them only to be told by a Brown Jug employee that "Gold Rush was supposed to notify their customers". Further, although it seemed like they were able to get into the email account after that, and I sent updated copies of my license and liquor permit, they apparently lack the capability to provide a pre-shipping subtotal... either that, or they just decided my request was unreasonable and they don't want to do business with me any more. I might never find out; they still haven't called me back, and I'd sooner order from someone else. Problem is, it looks like Liquor Stores USA North is attempting to buy up all the liquor stores in Anchorage, so you'll soon not have a choice but to put up with their bullshit.

I immediately regretted not having more time in Anchorage for surely I'd pick up more. Everyone was so friendly here too! Employees were polite but not over bearing. The only downside is the price. We were on a hunt so we went here and then immediately to other stores. We were surprised to find identical product (same brand, type, size) $10 cheaper elsewhere. For the hard to find stuff Gold Rush is the spot, but for everything else there's cheaper elsewhere.

The service is amazing! You have a few people there who are experts in their particular beverage. Mike knows just about everything about all the wine. Duane knows just about everything about all the whiskey. Everyone who works there is super friendly. The ambiance, so the owner does her best to decorate for all the seasons and holidays. It has a feeling of high end wine/alcohol business mixed with warehouse mixed with mom came to decorate for the holidays.

La Bodega (previously Yukon Spirits) appeared on my radar because it's the only place in Anchorage that encourages buying individual bottles of beer. Per-bottle prices are usually the six-pack price divided by six, and they have a box-full of empty six-packs for convenience. Warts: the selection varies, so if you like it you'd better stock up, and they don't have sales, so Brown Jug is the better deal if there's a sale on the beer or wine you want. This being Anchorage, though, I am willing to look the other way if it means that I can have easy access to this much quality beer. Between La Bodega and the Brown Jug Warehouse, Old Seward between 36th and Tudor is definitely the place to be for fans of beer and wine. Located near Natural Pantry.
