Located under the 101 freeway across from the Westfield Fashion Square Mall off of Hazeltine Ave and Valleyheart Dr - you are able to pull into the lot. We came in while they were still out to lunch (around 12:45), but were the first ones in line when back on as they are open Monday thru Saturday 9 AM - 12 PM and again from 1 PM - 5 PM; Sunday 9 AM - 5 PM. I'm almost positive Shawn may have been who helped us (but I'm bad with names on the first go). And though I didn't engage with him directly he made our experience smooth as can be. He's a very social and friendly person and kept my friend Christina and her husband chatting for much longer than we planned to be there. She's a new mom and rarely leaves the house so I think she was excited to engage with someone just as outgoing and personable as she is. Shawn gave us some great options for trucks as the were out of the largest sizes (20 and 26) being the end of/first of the month (everybody is moving) - we ended up with to 15 foot trucks which was actually better. Then, while returning the vehicle, he told me he would check it in and not to take the pictures of the odometer or to take any pictures of the vehicle - needless to say, I ignored him, took all the pictures, and checked the vehicle in myself. The THE MECHANICAL DEFECTS COULD HAVE COST US OUR LIVES!! The truck speed limit max out at 35mph while empty (driving to location) and 25mph when filled with our furniture. IT CAME TO A TOTAL STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE 405 and my uncle had to improvise in order to avoid getting in an accident. To top things off the lift was not working properly and got stuck. Contacted the company and they gave us instructions to EMPTY the oil and let it run. All over the driveway of our new home! After that, the lift got stuck two more times. We ended up paying double to our movers because of extra lifting. It is now parked on the street and we are fearful to drive it back to the office for the return. I am writing this review to shed light on this company's negligence as well as their lack of customer service. They should have sent someone right away to remedy the issue or at least swapped out the vehicle. Totally illegal, unsafe and a hazard to the person renting as well as all others on the road. They should have their license revoked! We will be reporting this to the authorities in the morning!

This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had with a business. After I spent 20 minutes or so…read morereserving a cargo van on-line (on Sunday, June 3, 2018), as soon as I finished, I received a call from the employee who was there. He told me they close at 4:00 and I needed to drop off the van by 3:00 or 3:30. I can't remember exactly, but the time limitation was fine at that point. I told him that wouldn't be a problem, and that I was about to call him to let him know I could pick it up earlier than the time for which I reserved it (1:00). When I got there between 12:45 and 1:00 p.m., he told me he closes at 3:00, and I had to have the van back by 2:30, which would have been cutting it too close. The problem really came when he handed me the paperwork to sign. I asked him if he could print it out in larger type, as the type was not readable, not only because of the size, but because it was fuzzy, and looked as if it had been printed on a fax machine. He refused. When I told him I can't sign something I couldn't read, he became irate. He said it was because I didn't have my glasses on, which I had left in the car, and could have easily gotten. I could not have read this paperwork, even with glasses on, because the print was so small and distorted. He refused to let me have the paperwork. Instead, he ripped it up and threw it at me, stating something to the effect that he wouldn't rent to me and I needed to leave. He was yelling at me and his reaction was over the top. I had my young daughter with me and even she was upset. I then went to EZ Storage and Moving Center, down the street, where I rented a U-haul truck from some really lovely ladies. The two experiences were night and day. I will never go to this facility again, and will let me friends and family know that they shouldn't waste their time going to a place which treats its customers so badly.

We rented a mid-size white U-Haul van for a week and paid ~$560 for the full 7 days, and I'd say that's an amazing price. We didn't rent the box truck because we didn't need one, just the van was perfect for our needs. We originally ordered online, and literally showed up the next day for quick pickup. We put a credit card down for incidentals, put a $150 hold on the card, and paid the total upon return. They did try to add stuff, but we declined, and that was it. In and out in about ~20-30 minutes since there were others renting as well. Overall, I'd say a great experience. No gimmicks, no games, just service and a great U-Haul van that my family jokes was the star of our wedding, ha ha. I called it my Lamborghini, since I got all of our event rentals from place to place. This van came in soo handy! We'll definitely be back to rent from them again for future events.

I rented 2 flat dollies, but was told that location doesn't have them (according to the front desk person, the owner is aware of this). There were no dollies at all to choose from. The cargo van already had the gas light on upon getting in the driver's seat. After loading up the van at my apartment, it wouldn't start. So, I waited 30-40 min for the roadside to come by to fix the issue. I happened to try to start the truck again and it miraculously turned over and started. I asked the roadside assistant to meet me at the drop off location. While unloading he fixed the truck since it was a battery issue. I was delayed about 1.5 hours due to the issues and didn't have the two dollies to expedite the process. The front desk person gave me the owner's number to which I called and left a voicemail briefly explaining everything asking for a callback. I also texted him as well. This was on June 30th and I have yet to hear back from him. It takes a lot for me to write a bad review, but the fact that I've received no call back when running a business like this is unacceptable. Update: It's July 7th and I haven't heard from the owner yet.

Hours later, they called me demanding I come back because apparently I parked it "off property" -- despite the fact THEY already had possession of the keys and could've moved it themselves the entire time. This place is a complete disaster. Rude employees, terrible communication, zero accountability, and the management clearly has no idea what they're doing. Avoid this location unless you want a headache. I've never had problems at any other location except for this one.

When the day of the move came, I was shocked at how careful and quickly the guys wrapped and loaded the truck. They treated everything with more care than some of my junky stuff deserved. It was a hot day (90+) but the guys didn't let that slow them down. They packed up a two bedroom apartment in a little under 3 hours. When I met them at the new place they put everything in the right place and reassembled tables and desks. Moving is always stressful so I'm incredibly happy I called NorthStar!

They told me I had to schedule a virtual meeting before getting any estimate, but the earliest meeting was two days away and my move was happening only a few days later. Because timing was tight, I simply asked if they could give me a rough hourly rate or general range. I already knew how many movers I likely needed, what size truck I was looking for, and had spoken with many similar moving companies and knowing what they usually offer. Instead, the salesperson basically told me it could be "$2,000 or $10,000" without asking any questions to narrow anything down. When I said I needed to check my calendar because the proposed meeting time was difficult, she became impatient and rushed me for an answer. I explained that I had other appointments and might need to pass because of the timing -- and before I could even finish my sentence, she hung up on me. That was extremely rude and honestly shocking. Regardless of pricing or availability, basic customer service means letting someone finish speaking before hanging up. Based on this experience, I would be very hesitant to trust them with an actual commercial move. !!Be cautious!!
