I ordered the bibimbap, my favourite dish which I order at every Korean restaurant I go to and found it to be not great. The egg was fried which I don't like, I prefer the raw yolk much more tasty and authentic, I'm not sure why they didn't have that as almost all the other restaurants I've been to in the UK did. The portion was very small and the price was high. I had been to Miss Korea, also in Birmingham only 5 mins walk away from here which was fantastic, much more authentic and tasty, cheaper with better serving sizes. The service was mediocre, I had to remind them of things as they they forgot to bring foods I ordered, and didn't bring water for ages after I asked and had to remind them for that as well. The atmosphere is casual, similar to a cafe and an upside is that they give you a 10% discount if you pay by cash. The kimchi tasted pretty good too, despite the very disappointing bibimbap.

Slightly surprised by my order of dolsat bimbimbap, which was a tiny portion and didn't have the usual fried egg. Nevertheless, not disappointed in the quality or taste. Worth coming back to for the BBQ!

The quality of food here is excellent and they're kimchi is the best I've ever had in terms of UK Korean restaurants, the portions are big and the prices are cheap; mains are around £8-9, starters are around £5 each. The service is basic at best, the staff are efficient but not too attentive. They also do not accept card so it's cash only, which is a downside. I loved the seafood bibimbap and spicy tofu jigae, both tasted divine. Overall high quality flavorful and authentic Korean food, cheap prices, generous portions but average service.

Korean restaurants do serve with lots of side dishes called Ban Chan. Here, none. Food was so so and I was the only guest in the restaurant. Restaurant itself was not dirty so it was fine. I was really happy to find a korean place in Oxford. But Korean food is hard to do…read more I had high expectations which was probably my problem. First, they don't give a bunch of free sides that much Korean places do. They gave us two sides, one weird jelly thing (I wouldn't eat it again if they paid me) and bean sprouts. No Kimchi??? really?? We ordered some BBQ, bimbimbap and Soon Du Bu with kimchee on the side. The BBQ was good but were pretty small. We ordered a pork belly, that is okay and the Korean short ribs that were better. It didn't come with lettuce so we had to order that too. The bimbimbap was good and I would order it again, but there aren't many ways you can mess that up. The Soon Du Bu was okay. It was pretty watery and lacking in some flavor but I still found it comforting to eat. The Kimchee was bad! Like really really bad, like it left a bitter taste in my mouth instead of a bright vinegar taste. Don't order it. If we come back, it would most likely be at lunch for their lunch special. It might be better than.

The Teppanyaki chefs are very talented and put on a real show for you while cooking the food. They also serve Sushi, Sashimi and Yakitori. I am lucky enough to have eaten Japanese food in Tokyo so the bar is set quite high fo me in terms of quality and authenticity. While this restaurant appears to be Chinese run rather than Japanese, the food still tastes authentic and the experience is very worthwhile. The Sake is great too, especially warm. Highly recommended, only loses one star for the prices.

Called Saturday evening and tried a mixture of dishes…read more The Teppanyaki bit itself is great fun: around 12 seats are arranged around a metal hot plate and the (shared) chef works in front of you. In addition to preparing the food he flourishes his tools, juggles with some of the implements and even (optionally) threw the bowls fried rice to the customers! Somehow everyone I saw trying this managed to catch it, which was a relief. For starters we had Chicken Yakitori (chicken on skewers with leek and yakitori sauce), Harumaki (deep fried Japanese spring rolls) and Prawn Tempura: these varied from £4-5.50 per portion and I'd suggest one or two each as the dishes are small but tasty. We didn't try the Sushi, Makimono, Temaki or Sahimi, although some of the others at the shared table did and it looked nicely presented. For the mains (£10-17) we went with Traditional Teppanyaki: this is the food that the chef prepares in front of you on the hot plate. This is safe, but I don't think it would be a good idea for very young children. We had Tuna filet steak seared and served with teriyaki sauce and chopped pickled ginger; Scottish sirloin Hibachi Steak which was served to order, in our case rare. The steak and teriyaki sauce was lovely, the tuna was very nice but a little overcooked to our tastes. This was accompanied by egg fried rice with chicken at the start (£4.00), fried mushrooms and bean sprouts at the end (included in the cost). Everything was nicely cooked and very tasty. We had a bottle of Australian Merlot, which was good value at under £15. The food was good value, the staff were helpful and polite, and there is a reasonable amount of parking outside. Highly recommended.
