600volts to power this trolly!! Due to our growing experimental pharmacological camping population (drug seeking, without home, copper stealing folks), the trolly cars of today must be powered by a diesel generator. Today, we had the opportunity to ride during the Memorial Day weekend. The route covered Yakima to Selah and lasted about a half hour each way. Before departure, we were given a very great history lesson on the trolleys and system in Yakima. It's worth the ride just for the history if you're into to the "past" of how things come to be. This was great for the whole family!

The trolley in Yakima is the last remaining intercity Trolley car in the USA as it goes to Selah in the summer time - very cool stuff!

The staff member reading the story was enthusiastic & encouraged the kids to participate with hand gestures & songs. They got to do water color painting afterwards, too. The book checkout process was so simple thanks to the high end computer that just scans the books on its own when you set the stack on there. The staff was friendly as well when greeting us. We have made story time a regular event now :)

Schedules of kids activities, programming classes and other pleasantries were listed at the front desk. More than anything, I was surprised at the number of different sections to relax here. The children's area was bright and had plenty of area to read and be read to, in addition to a half a dozen computers. A number of study carousels are available for those wishing to get their study on, and all include plenty of outlets. Perhaps the coolest area they have here is the fireside reading spot - a few comfy chairs and a place for your coffee! More books that you can shake a stick at and a nice selection of DVDs for rentals. All in all, a lovely spot to read, study or just hang with the kiddos!

I love fun colors and a painting of something that I couldn't otherwise produce, but anymore I'm just not smart enough, or creative enough probably, to appreciate much of what's produced. We had some friends when we lived in the Midwest, whose parents owned an art gallery. It was fun to look around, but all of it was super high-end and the sort of thing that they would probably sell one or two paintings per month and be just fine doing. This art gallery, we found, was one that supports the local food bank and highlights artist from the area...Win-win! This gallery has a pretty small footprint, and is located on the north west corner of Tietan Square, in the town of Tietan. As an aside, this little town has done an amazing job of really fostering the arts in a place where they would otherwise be almost completely absent. The gallery is probably five or 600 ft.², with a large main room and a small offshoot. They display whatever artist has pieces to display, and also sell jewelry, greeting cards and other small art pieces. We were told that the places almost entirely run by volunteers and that the vast majority of the proceeds go to the local food bank. It's a really neat way to make sure that the food bank stays as stocked as possible. The cards here are all made by a gentleman who donates them in the proceeds go, again, to the local food bank. We found some pretty funny cards, as well as a number of them for other occasions. We can never find a birthday card when we need it so we figured we just pick up a few! All in all, this is a really cool little studio that supports the artistic mission of the community, and helps make sure the food bank has a relatively steady source of income. If you have a chance to check out this place, either just being in the area or for an event, It's well worth your time!

I love visiting this gallery and viewing all the genres of artistic talents. One of the amazing…read morethings is most of the artists are local to the area.
