If you take the time to watch their video, take in the view of the river and surrounding areas, and hear their message you may also find a new and enlightened view of what the people and land around you stand for. It is a unique and effective approach. You won't regret a visit to this center which was funded by the Grant County PUD. One unique factor of the Wanapums is that they never signed a treaty, do not associate with a reservation and therefore do not qualify for the federal assistance provided on reservations. The center is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Stop in for a visit.

Incredible! My dad…read morewas from Yakima, so I wanted to visit. I have no idea how I'd research things, but I did try - I did numerous web searches and there wasn't much I could find. We were in Yakima last week and we stopped by the museum. We were greeted by a nice man, who we bought tickets from. I told him my story and he said we should speak to John. Luckily, he was in and we went into the archives office and he showed us all kinds of things! He found my grandfather's store, then he told us that it was torn down, but he told us about other businesses in the area! He showed us pictures dating back over 100 years! He then found my dad's old house. We took down the address - this is something I'd like to see! He gave us a lot of great information - what an amazing man! He showed us some artwork in another room, then sent us on our tour of the museum. We had a wonderful docent give us a tour. She took us room to room, answered our questions and made the entire experience world class! In the middle of our tour, John came by and showed us another photo he had pulled up! Now that's amazing! We finished our tour. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and we learned a lot about Yakima. Oh yeah, we also learned that we were staying in Union Gap, not Yakima. After the museum, we went to where the store was, then we went to see where my dad great up. What a perfect day and it was all due to the excellent staff at the Yakima Valley Museum and Historical Association! You have to visit this museum!

At 1:30 a large track with convory belt slowly drop hay and hundreds of elk swarm to eat. You can see them prancing down the side of the hills in large herds. Many patiently waiting for their lunch. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Fir donation you can get in large flat bed truck and go out next the elk and tour. This place is great for all people who love animals and all ages. Easy and free parking. Need discovery pass if you are staying longer then a few minutes. Dogs not allowed.

You need a park pass to come here as we found out last year. Park rangers are here around feeding time and use it as an opportunity to sell you one! Goes to a good cause and it's only about 2 miles up from the highway 12 turnoff so the drive isn't bad. The information room that accompanies the place is really cool as well. Great info on why the place was started and some really nice taxidermied animals from the area, plus a giant viewing window to watch from if it's super cold! Another added plus was the kids area with lots of antlers and furs for the kids to look at and play with - we found it provided since great photo ops! Worth the trip to see some beautiful animals and learn about the history of the place.

We came over for the Christmas extravaganza that goes on the last weekend in November and the first…read morethree weekends in December. The museum is re-outfitted with Christmas garb and the train out front transport you, if desired, to Santas workshop about 500 yards up the way in another train car. Entrance, at least for the Christmas themed stuff, was eight dollars per adult and five dollars per kid. That ended up including cookies and hot chocolate (donate if you desire) and a train ride over to Santas workshop, in addition to all the train exhibits. It initially feels a bit steep, but you end up spending a couple hours there and it was well worth the expense. The place is run by Community volunteers which included folks in high school as well as older train enthusiast. It's nice to see the melding of generations in a place like this. There were a total of five or six rooms that had train sets of varying sizes. One out front included a Thomas the train type setup and the one in the back included cars that were about a foot tall. The set up on these things were pretty impressive and the guys there genuinely seemed like they enjoy putting it on. It's got a better than average gift shop here as well. Plenty of train toys, books and other railroad related pleasantries. The train ride was a fun and fairly unique experience. The train only went about a quarter of a mile, but it was fun for the kids to get to ride in a legit train car. On the way back, we rode in a caboose with some seats that were up above the normal sitting area. Made for a little bit better view and a reminiscing tale for the kiddos. All in all, this place is really solid. It's not huge, but they've got some neat exhibits and it's filled with people who are excited about the place.it's also a great excuse to come down to the lower Valley, hit up a tourist attraction, including the national hop museum across the street, and go check out a restaurant in the area.

State fair Park has been around for a long time, and as the name would suggest it houses the central Washington State fair each year! Each year, during these last couple weeks of September the fair decisions on State fair Park, did we have plenty of opportunities to see what has been fried, who threw the biggest pumpkin, and animals and everything in between. It's no b always quite lovely! As for the remainder of the year, this place has a number of large buildings for various gatherings, plays Home to the Sundome - Home of the Sunkings, as well as of plenty other community events. Numerous charities such as toys for tots hold their pick up and drop off events here, and the facilities also are the grounds for the Yakima pippins, a college level all star summer league baseball team. Finally, there are grandstands and a large dirt field outback where events such as Dozer days! When all is said and done, the place is an eclectic I mix of different venues that can accommodate plenty of different types of events. It's been there for quite some time, and over the past few years they seem to have done a nice job of exploring how they can utilize the space more completely. Keep up the good work!

If you are looking for a break from pretentious winerys this place is for you! Paul is highly knowledgeable and doesn't gatekeep. All of their wines are formulated to be food friendly. As if the couple who own it wasn't sweet enough, they also support several causes. There is no tasting fee and their wines are very reasonably priced.

On the 30th Anniversary of this majestic parade (2018) we finally made it down to check it out,…read morethough in fairness, we've only been back a few years. I learned recently that this parade was named one of the 10 best lighted parades in the country and after seeing some decked out combines, I believe it! Held along the main drag in town, it started around 6:30, with some sort of fun run that went along the parade route as well followed by a flash mob who danced to a jingle bell rock remix, and finally the parade. It lasted a little over and hour and gave us plenty to look at! The standard non-profit and beauty pageant winner floats from different towns came through, followed by a number of impressively lit semis and classic cars. The farm equipment was obviously what everyone came for and did not disappoint! There were old and new tractors, small farm vehicles, combines, and plenty of plastic deer - all of which were more than impressive in their total light counts! The kids loved watching and it took me right back to our time in Iowa! We were very glad we came down for the festivities and liked it so much, we'll probably be back next year!

Rude scarers This is my first time going to this corn maze,…read moreI got there to go in the scary corn maze. Other than the maze it was kinda boring, but once we started in the maze the workers didn't even try to scare us. We would walk around for a while and not see a signal scarer, just to see them in a group talking to each other without their mask even on. They were honestly just rude but to be fair they are highschoolers and it was 5 bucks
