The staff members were so kind and walked us through the whole process and helped with suggesting scents too! Who knew so many scents existed!? Once you select your scents you will pick out a jar then get to mixing your oils to craft the perfect candle smell! The candle was ready a few hours later and it smells so good!! Xo -BB

I got there first thing in the morning with my mom and aunt to get started. We arrived on a Friday and parking was PACKED. We ended up finding a spot in a nearby lot, so if you have a certain time you want to arrive, make sure you factor in parking. Anyway, we made our way into the building, and a nice lady told us we could sit anywhere we wanted and gave us the rundown. You're able to make an array of items. We ended up making car fresheners, perfumes, lotions, and candles. You start off by picking your favorite scents and combinations. If you're anything like me and my mom, we are very indecisive, luckily they help you pick out scents and combinations they think you'll like. Seriously amazing staff! They were so patient with us to make sure we got the scent we loved. Overall, the process took about an hour, and depending on what you make, you'll have to come back after 3 -4 hours to pick up your items. When we came back around late noon, it was packed, so I definitely don't recommend coming at that time. Definitely go early in the morning or maybe a couple hours before they close. The prices weren't overly expensive at all. I can't remember the exact total, but I think I got around three items and only paid about $70. Either way, if I have more family coming in from out of town or just want a fun place to go with friends, I can definitely see myself coming back

I won't give it away--you'll have to go on the tour yourself. Upon arrival, there's free parking on the premises in a designated grassy area. John was a great tour guide--nice, informative, and absolutely hilarious! There were a few places we couldn't see that I personally would've loved to explore, such as the hidden rooms behind the doors and the son's room upstairs. Due to time, those areas weren't included, which was a bit of a bummer. Overall, though, the tour was enjoyable. Since the place was built in the '80s, there aren't really any ghost stories--probably because in the '80s the only ghosts people talked about were the Ghostbusters. The property definitely needs a bit of love. The carpets need cleaning, and the whole place could use a refresh to bring back that '80s charm instead of feeling more like the '50s. I did love the artwork throughout, especially the stair rails, doors, and mural. A small on-site café or coffee spot would be amazing--there's so much potential here to elevate the experience, especially if they plan to maintain it as historic grounds. They no longer host weddings here, which is disappointing since I remember driving by years ago and seeing celebrations happening on the property. Overall, the tour is worth the price and definitely something to check out for yourself. Drink your coffee before you go! And remember: don't touch anything on the tour. It's always embarrassing when the guide has to remind everyone because of that one person who just can't follow the rules. Sheesh! Why is there always that one human?‍ The kitchen was definitely a 80s kitchen. In any case, I recommend checking it out if you're a history buff or just simply need something to do. Tours are held on the weekends in 3 sessions... check their site and get your tickets online. (Subject to change) Tell John that you heard it here! Btw... There's a cute gift shop on premises that sells lavender soaps and trinkets. They also sell sugar cookies and soda No coffee on the premises at all!

When arriving yesterday, I met Sarah first who is the sound bath practitioner. She was very nice and had great energy. I then met the owner who is also nice and has a calming energy. I also appreciated the samples of stress relief tea they have there. I also liked the personal touches in the store and thoughtfulness. For the sound bath experience, Sarah made mention of considerations for everyone there including being as quiet as possible. During the session some people didn't seem to listen to that and a cell phone dropped, there were chairs moving, etc. There were other external noises that made it difficult for me to be fully immersed. I felt my jaw clenching with each external sound made. I do appreciate the value and the experience. For me and my personal needs, I would need a very quiet environment to get fully immersed and relaxed. I didn't shop around but I saw a lot of unique items in the store that were beautiful and focused on wellness and energy. I recommend this store while also providing a predominantly transparent review of the sound bath experience. Sarah was wonderful and I did grab her card which I was glad was available after the session.

I have a long history with Vision Quest Metaphysical Bookstore. Maybe since 1997. I wrote a Yelp…read morereview for this store years ago but maybe 40% of my older reviews just disappeared from Yelp. I used to go to this bookstore when they were in Scottsdale on Thomas Road and Oak Streets. I make and sell metaphysical jewelry that I design mostly necklaces from semi-precious stones for healing and well-being. I used to consign my jewelry at the Scottsdale store and everything sold within 3 months. It was so easy I just bring it there and then pick up my check later. But when Vision Quest moved to the Phoenix location, the clientele there was vastly different from Scottsdale and it's tourists, and Phoenecians didn't want to buy my jewelry at the $60 prices for necklaces that the store sold them for. Owner Apryl told me Phoenician customers bought candles and incense and got readings. So April didn't let me consign jewelry anymore as it would stay in the store unsold for a year. But I go to the Phoenix store now and get regular readings by psychic reader Toney He's very good and accurate in business matters. Sometimes I talk to him almost every week or two times a week. My life is very in need of direction right now I'm making big financial ventures which Toney advises me on. Apryl is a good reader too but the staff tells me she's not doing readings for store customers now.

It was my first real intro to this world, and honestly, it launched me into the practices that are now just... my life. So yes, Vision Quest and I go way back. Then, like any long-term relationship, the shine wore off. I started hearing whispers in school about them not clearing the space, and once I noticed it myself, the vibe felt a little off. Combine that with discovering other shops that had better prices and fresh energy? Yeah, I strayed. Cut to tonight: my go-to WooWoo dealer (aka my favorite candle spot) was CLOSED. Dire situation. My altar was looking at me like, "You really gonna let me go dark?" So, I dragged myself over to Vision Quest. And you know what? The whole vibe felt different... lighter, fresher, like someone saged the place within an inch of its life. I actually caught myself thinking, "Wait, why did I stop coming here again?" Candles acquired. Yes, they were a whopping 50¢ instead of my usual 30¢ (so, call me thrifty), and the wax felt like it came from a slightly less fancy bee or paraffin farm. But in an emergency? Totally did the job. And so, Vision Quest is like that ex you bump into years later and think, "Huh... maybe they got their act together." I may not be back every week, but I'm definitely glad it's still around when the WooWoo emergencies hit.

I walked in with my family of five, excited for a sweet treat and in admiration about the Easter decor on display. We were patiently in the back of the line with no behind waiting. While we stood there, Vanessa came out from the side with chocolate caramel samples--super kind, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant. I appreciated her energy right away and thought oh wow they give you samples while you wait cool!! When it was our turn at the counter, I noticed customers before me asking for other samples in the display case, so as a first-time visitor, I figured I'd try one I saw in the display case too. I asked for the open almond caramel with a chocolate bottom but was met with a loud sigh (by another staff member tending the display case chocolates) because I took a second too long deciding between that and another option the marshmallow caramel--- there was no one behind us. Immediately, I felt uneasy and rushed. I went with the almond caramel chocolate bottom--and I'm honestly glad I sampled it because the caramel was much harder than expected and not easy on my teeth. Then my teenage son politely asked for a double chocolate sample, and that's when things took a turn. The associate looked at us and said, in a very sharp tone, "After this, I'm going to have to charge you." She even started pulling out two pieces before I told her we only needed one. It wasn't just what she said--it was how she said it. The tone felt accusatory and unnecessary, especially considering I had already told her this was my first time there. Had I known there was a strict sampling limit, I would have chosen differently from the start instead of taking the caramel sample offered earlier. I then made it verbally clear I was purchasing, not just sampling and leaving and did so by stating that. She then realized how she came off as I'm sure she was not expecting me to say so. In fact, I still went ahead and bought several pieces (and added more), but the experience was already soured. What made it worse was noticing that the same energy was not given to customers before me--if you know, you know. I will not be returning to this location. Vanessa, however, deserves recognition. She was warm, patient, and made the checkout experience pleasant. Unfortunately, her coworker's lack of professionalism and poor communication overshadowed the visit. I had to explain to my kids that sometimes you will run into people like this unfortunately and to brush it off as they were frustrated with the experience as well.
