I called the taxi service at 5:45 am, which is already a difficult time to get a taxi because most places don't start taking calls until 6 am, and they were promptly outside less than 10 mins later. The taxi van smelled fantastic to the point of me almost complimenting him on the aroma. The ride started off a little shaky because we almost had to stop for change due to me being his first ride of the day and him not having change but luckily I had the exact amount so we proceeded. Throughout the 15 min ride I learned so much about him and vice versa. At the end of the ride we were talking about sports and I was comfortable enough to make fun of his Knicks hat for obvious reasons. If you have to take Duffy's Taxi I would highly recommend Taxi Tony who rides in car 47. He is extremely friendly, makes you feel safe and will have you laughing at the end of the taxi ride.

The guy on the phone seemed annoyed I had called to request a taxi (but, having to deal with drunk kids all night, I couldn't blame him). I said I needed 8 people from my friends apartment to Mahars, and would probably need a van. "30 Minutes" he said. 50 minutes later (the time now being 11:50pm; 10 minutes from New Years) a taxi-van pulls up. We open the door to find 4 kids ALREADY SITTING IN THE VAN. Our hypothesis being that they were hoping to piggy-back off our taxi ride and avoid paying for the cab entirely, and therefore screwing my friends and I over. Three of my friends are over 6 foot tall. There was no chance we'd fit in this already half-full cab. To the current cab's occupants' (and the driver's) dismay, my friends and I made a collective "nope" and got out of the cab to light some sparklers. In all, we requested a ride for 8 people. The driver of the cab--in a possible attempt to screw us out of some extra money--brought us a half-full van with 3 open seats. Don't go with Duffy's unless you want to risk getting screwed out of a New Year in your favorite bar (or getting screwed out of a few bucks).
