The special had cod, haddock, calamari, scampi with chips and mushy peas. Unfortunately, we made the wrong choice as the cod and haddock was a quarter of a fillet compared to what others were having. Due to the thickness of the batter, we didn't end up with much fish at all and there was only a small nub of fish underneath it all. The calamari and scampi were good, chips were okay. We doused out box with vinegar, but couldn't taste it since it was so watered down. Overall not what we were looking forward to. Next time (if there is one), I would just get a full fillet of fish and not the 'special'.

So I stopped on in for some fish and chips before heading back to my hotel. It was served with salt and vinegar. It was fast food and nothing fancy, but now I understand why they're known for this combo! I would categorize it as comfort food. The weather was a bit gloomy and rainy, and this was the perfect food for that sort of weather. I was fortunate to find a small table near the back of the place to enjoy the food. I wish that there were places like this back in the States, but all we have that's similar over in the US are Long John Silver's and they're not very good.
