Went with a friend and we've never felt so unwelcome in a hobby store before. Any attempts to interact with staff went ignored and no one would make eye contact with us. There were knitters sitting in the front and they all stopped talking and stared at us when we walked in; they sat there in silence watching us until we left. Poor selection of yarn weights, was mostly sock and sport with a few worsted options. Parking was difficult, on a busy street with a park across the road so limited spaces. Between the atmosphere and poor selection I do not recommend. read more

Esther has created quite the cozy shop and crafty yarnist escape in Yarn It & Haberdashery. Yes, yarnist is a word I just made up. =P When I first heard about the idea for this store, I was immediately in love. I may not be an expert level knitter or crocheter, but I do really enjoy the relaxing repetitiveness of both - as my friends and family with scarves and blankets and amigurumi can attest. But there aren't many places in our area to buy the nicer yarns and needles and hooks. Thank goodness for Yarn It filling that niche. It's so hard for an indecisive person like me to pick out nice yarn online. I need to feel it, see it, smell it, play with it before I commit to it. Who wants something that's pretty but smells funny or is scratchy and uncomfortable? Not me! I haven't been to any of the classes or tea parties yet, but I definitely hope to change that in the near future. If nothing else, the companionship of crafting with my fellow yarn nerds is appealing enough. Learning a new technique or eating delicious treats is icing on the cake. read more

The service was terrible. When I entered the store, the two people there were sitting on the couches knitting and loudly chatting. They looked me over, mumbled a greeting, then went back to their conversation. I was going to purchase a few skeins, but they were completely ignoring me, so I left. For what they are charging, I expect better service. read more

I love Yarn It! Service is excellent, I've never felt uncomfortable if I have a question about anything. They always ask if I want my hanks spun into cakes. The yarn selection is lovely! It's so wonderful to see a bunch of indie dyers that can be hard to find. Also Yarn It was so sweet when I brought my youngest in over the summer! I love Yarn It. It is my favorite LYS. They have a wonderful selection of yarns including local dyers and other yarn companies as well. They are one of the very few stores in Ohio that stocks Hedgehog Fibres! The staff has always been extremely helpful and friendly. You get what you pay for at Yarn It which is high quality yarns. They even carry some KnitPicks tools (an online yarn store) which means I can see what I'm getting before buying instead of blindly buying online. They carry needles for every knitter. The store is always decorated with beautiful, colorful knitwear to help inspire your own knitting. I always find something great when I go to Yarn It. If I could open up a yarn shop (which is totally my dream), this place is pretty much what I envisioned it to be. They carry unique brands that you cannot find elsewhere in Ohio, have roving for sale, have felting supplies, offer classes such as hand dying and spinning, have monthly tea parties (omg!!!), and carry really fantastic accessories and tools such as KnitPicks brand knitting needles and tools. read more

Love this shop... was my go to place when I lived in Columbus and now I order from the owner and have her send me yarn for projects. She photographs different color choices and different yarns and offers advice for the projects that I want to knit. Very knowledgable, beautiful yarns... many hand dyed. Everything promised and more! Although I live in PA. Yarn It and Haberdashery were fantastic to work with when I ordered from them recently. They walked me through the order process and sent me a reminder that my package was on its way. It came the same day as promised and it was exactly what I wanted. Nice selection of premium yarn for those of us that love natural fibers! I've been several times and customer service is always good, people are friendly and helpful. People are often sitting and knitting comfortably and I think there are a lot of regulars. The one downside is that there isn't a separate space for classes so everyone is kind of mixed together which I wasn't too fond of. read more

I don't get to Columbus very often and when I do, it's usually later in the evening. Yesterday was my second trip to Yarn It and Haberdashery. It's a lovely little shop with unique yarn offerings and a selection of needles and notions that makes me smile. I got there about 6:45 and they close at 7. I apologized for my lateness and promised I wouldn't take long, as I already had a few ideas from their web presence. I got just the yarn I was looking for (Delicious Yarn in Blueberry Mint) and a skein of Faeriegrl Yarn in the Color Theory. I am glad I didn't have a lot of time, because I would have easily been side tracked by all the other goodies. I did not feel rushed or like I put out the person working who, I found out, is Faeriegrl! What a fun concept to have the dyer working at a bricks-and-mortar store so you can talk to her. I will try to get back as my time allows. I love the creative feel of this store. read more
