When JoAnn closed (RIP), I figured I'd just buy crafting supplies online but it's been surprisingly difficult to find materials and even harder to buy them sight unseen. Craft Raccoon is like JoAnn's but better priced and you can actually feel good about shopping there because everything you buy is reused and saved from landing in a landfill. Plus, the owner of the store is so kind and helpful. I've learned a lot just through shopping there. But if you want to learn more, they also have really fun classes - like how to sew a fish bag or a class on spinning (i.e., turning wool into thread). Go check it out! You'll be glad you did!

My go-to scent is the Bandit's Oil, which sells out quickly, but the owner is always willing to assist and put in an order upon request. The store also accepts plastic bags and films that are not recyclable through Rumpke recycling. Once the city receives 500 pounds of plastics, the TREX company will make a bench for use around the city. So far, over two dozen benches have been made through the efforts of the city's recyclers. I highly recommend that you visit this store in Uptown Westerville.

Also really dig the ceramics, plants, soaps, and body butters. When I go restock there I go in with the mindset that I don't NEED anymore Art AND that I am trying to DOWNSIZE. It's confusing for customers that don't know any better. Not to mention they are double the price of actual Needohs. This bothers me especially because my mother in law came home super excited because she finally found one for my son. I didn't have the heart to tell her it was fake. Of course, I then ran to Instagram to see even more photos and from that point on, I was sold. There are two types of businesses I tend to seek out on Yelp no matter where I am. Plant shops and crystal shops. Both are 100% my jam and I'm pleased to say that this shop is a hidden gem in every sense of the word... no pun intended but it's clear as day. It's tucked away a bit in a small corner of Westerville but it isn't hard to find. There's parking out front and they're currently only open Monday through Friday. The owner Amanda is so sweet and their space is truly a breath of fresh air. The vibrant colors just put off a feeling of happiness and I could honestly spend hours there. I'm kicking myself for not picking up a rainbow maker window cling but I did find several things I just had to get. A carnelian bracelet and a beautiful chunk of angel aura quartz. Out of all the cool crystal stores I've visited, this was the first time I laid my eyes on that type of quartz and I just had to make it mine. It's known to help with stress relief, balancing your chakras, and awakens empathy, enhances creativity, and more. I already had a giant tumbled carnelian stone but after learning it's supposed to bring love and prosperity to your life and I decided I needed to be able to bring this with me anywhere I go. Studios on High is an artist collective. Artists come in and out of ownership of the gallery, but…read morethe average number of associated artists usually hovers around 15. I find that Studios On High has a female slant. Many of the artists are women, many of the themes in the work deal with femininity, and much of the work is aimed (in my opinion) at female buyers. A lot of the art features animals and nature as well. I most appreciate Studios On High for its history as a Columbus gallery; it's been around since the mid-1980s. Many of the artists who leave end up opening their own galleries, case in point, Jeff Hersey of Terra Gallery. If you visit, you'll catch a handful of the artists in the studio; sometimes they're in the process of creating something, or perhaps they're just knitting. The artists are very inviting and don't mind if you hang around to watch them work. My favorite pieces at Studios On High are always the blown glass vessels by husband and wife duo Scott Conover and Lisa Horkin. The tiny vessels are so colorful, and they all have great shapes. I saw Scott and Lisa last summer making the vessels on High St at a Gallery Hop. They also make bowels and vases. The colored pencil drawings by Rhonda Bartoe Tuckers are also phenomenal. They are so smooth that they look like they were painted. Since Studios On High is a collective, there's all kinds of art to be seen (in all kinds of genres): prints, paintings, jewelry, sculptures, paintings, drawings, knits, glass, ceramics, etc. The artwork changes often.
