But the curriculum is inconsistent, there's a high turnover rate, and an appearance driven culture. Lots of talk about diversity, community, SEL but mostly displayed with performative events, not curriculum or genuine fellowship. Changes in administration went from "We'll do whatever is necessary to support him" to "No, if we do that for him, we have to do it for everyone" (and everyone could benefit). With mild ASD, all our son needed was accommodations for field trips, a sensory space to take breaks and explicit SEL for all the students about teasing and bullying. With a high tuition and large administration, we thought we could expect those things, but we couldn't. Even the social connections we and our son made during six years at EDS have nearly all vanished. The school is not what it used to be.

But when COVID stay at home precautions were in place in 2020, I decided to go for it and take my coursework to get my RE license. The on-line coursework of Principles, Practices, & Finance were well-designed for us to learn, with interactive zoom classes. Angela So was a terrific instructor and I know I retained a lot of the information from her classes because I felt good even a year later when I finally got my state exam date in April 2021. Already working in the industry doing mortgage loans, I felt overwhelmed as my test date approached since I could only dedicate a small amount of time to studying. I decided to take the crash course and also opted for the recorded videos and state exam prep. The videos with Ian Medina really helped me integrate concepts in a memorable way. I'm glad I was able to view all of these and also do the practice exams prior to my crash course weekend. Scheduling the crash course the weekend before my test date did help me feel more confident going in. Clarissa Cortez was an amazing instructor who kept us all engaged during the weekend crash course. She was able to integrate real world examples that helped us remember concepts. Feedback from fellow students who had taken the exam also gave a good perspective of what to expect on exam day. Passing my exam on my first attempt was a great feeling and I am now able to start helping build the real estate side under my brokerage, West Gold Inc. Thank you CA Realty Training, Angela So, Ian Medina, and Clarissa Cortez for making my real estate educational experience amazing!

The classes were taught at Keller Williams modern offices in Downtown Burlingame. My awesome instructor Clarissa Cortez was so passionate about real estate and teaching! You'll see it from the start -- the excitement and love she has for her career in real estate. I also signed up for the crash course which included a massive bank of practice questions. Today, I passed the state salesperson exam on my first try. Normally I hear there is only a 40% pass rate. Thank you Clarissa!

Burlingame Presbyterian Church is a wonderful Christ centered and welcoming place of worship. How…read moredid I start regularly attending "Burlpres"? During the pandemic, my wife and could not attend church services in person, and when things did relax, I had a series of medical issues that kept me out of the pews. During that time, my wife started following a couple of online Sunday services including the worship music and sermons broadcast from Burlpres. The staff prayed for me when I had a couple of surgeries. Their genuine caring was comforting. My wife and I were still enjoying the online services when a staff member invited me to attend Burlpres' start-up cancer survivor group in September 2023. I made several new friends at the group's meetings. My wife and I attended holiday services a couple of months later then decided to become regular Burlpres churchgoers. It's been great worshipping there for the past year. What makes Burlpres a great worship experience? The services bring heaven and earth and all people together in a weekly renewal of faith. Lead pastor, Rev. Graham Baird, leads most services. He is assisted by Rev. Jan Armstrong, and Rev. Elizabeth Frykberg. Their messages are thoughtful, uplifting and inspirational. Director of Worship Steven Hall's worship team is second to none. You cannot just listen to his worship team; you'll want to join in the singing. Burlpres is a small church that strives to make an impact wherever those in need of help may be found. Last fall, Rev. Graham visited a Christian church in Pakistan to bring donations and preach in support of young women forced into arranged marriages. This past week, Burlpres sent hundreds of pounds of clothing and funds to help victims of the Eaton wildfire in SoCal near La Canada. If you're new to San Mateo peninsula area and are looking to reconnect with God or start your personal spiritual journey, Burlpres is a good place to start. (The fresh scones in the lobby between services are delicious.)

WORST Christmas sermon of my entire life! Children's Service had nothing for children- weird 3D glasses & stickers, along with the pastors daughter being the center of attention as ALL the other children involved in the nativity scene remained outside. I left after the pastor decided to rant about HIS daughter and her prestige riding skills... it was like watching pure narcissism. And there was a rant about how expensive & hard it is to live here... ummmmmmmm I don't come to church to discuss Bay Area 1st world problems... it felt like this whole sermon was focused on ALL the wrong things. The petting zoo was nice... but how could that be the lesson for our children?? Seemed like a lot of it was just about getting money and seeming rich or something... very uncomfortable I for one HAD to leave. I regret going and decided to go for a walk downtown as my daughter stayed with family EVERY year- children have been the focus and brought in SO many new families. Children have sung songs, put on plays, and even read scripture- allowing for children watching to love it along with their parents. This year was dry, and only about the pastor... SO WEIRD I will NOT be returning to this church and I highly suggest looking elsewhere for children's sermons. This is NOTthe church I grew up in.

It was the perfect transition from an in-home daycare to a small, warm, homey, and nurturing preschool before starting Transitional Kindergarten in the public schools. From day one, we felt welcomed into a caring and supportive community. The teachers and staff genuinely know, value, and appreciate each child as an individual. They focus on developing the whole child, and it shows in everything they do. The greatest gift this school gave our son was a strong foundation in social-emotional learning. He learned kindness, courtesy, sharing, empathy, communication, and how to interact respectfully with others. He also developed a deep appreciation for our environment and understands how interconnected we all are. He now reminds us to protect bees and insists on washing his hands thoroughly--small but meaningful examples of the life lessons he brings home every day! Academically, he was encouraged to be an active participant in his own learning through engaging, age-appropriate lessons in math, literacy, science, social studies, art, music, and Spanish. At the same time, the Montessori curriculum helped him build fine and gross motor skills, independence, perseverance, problem-solving abilities, and self-confidence. His love of learning has truly blossomed. As a parent sending my oldest child to school for the first time, I always felt supported, heard, and understood. Communication is outstanding. The school holds thoughtful parent-teacher conferences twice a year, regularly shares photos and updates through the Brightwheel app, and makes it easy to stay connected to your child's day. All four teachers and the director are friendly, highly trained, and approachable. They have always welcomed questions and conversations with kindness and professionalism. There was one occasion when our son was involved in a situation that required teacher intervention. I was incredibly impressed with how thoughtfully and fairly the staff handled it. They responded appropriately to both children involved, communicated openly with the families, and used the situation as a learning opportunity while maintaining clear, respectful expectations. It reinforced my confidence that the staff leads with both compassion and consistency. Beyond the classroom, the school hosts wonderful family events throughout the year that helped my husband and me build friendships with other families, arrange playdates, and feel genuinely connected to the school community. As an elementary school teacher and reading specialist with 18 years of experience, I have high expectations for early childhood education. I can honestly say I could not be happier with our experience at Burlingame Montessori Preschool. I recommend this school wholeheartedly to any family looking for a loving, enriching, and supportive environment where children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We are so grateful for these past two years and only wish we could stay here forever!
