San bruno does not have many hindu temples like places in sunnywale and fremont but this one is good enough. They had Mata ki chauki on 20th Jan which was a 6pm-10pm event and was very good. This is an excellent temple for your spiritual needs. It is conveniently located. Best day to visit this temple is on Tuesday nights starting 7:30 PM. They have Ramayana katha, Bhajans, aarti and it followed by Mahaprasad (dinner). People there are wonderful, you will love the place. This temple also encourages many young devotees to participate in different activities. They have free YOGA, Sunday school for kids (Balvihar), senior programs and a free health clinic. The mandir is nice with beautiful idols of Various Gods but the panditji is the one who ruins my visit here...not a big fan of his rude mannerism and specially is prejudice against girls! We have thad his pandit perform puja in our home... even though he performed the Puja satisfactorily his way of talking to and excluding female members was really awkward and left us feeling uncomfortable. This temple use to be great awesome. But now it runs by some priest that mostly sleeping there every time my mom goes there he is always wrapped in blankets and comes out from a side door. Never puts tika on your forehead and tells you to do it yourself and if you ask him to do a puja he will say come back a certain time. Then what's the use of opening the temple might as well close it and go to sleep just my thoughts. He is not welcoming at all we went today around 4pm he did exactly the same thing. He said he already cleaned the place now and he doesn't have time to do the puja! That sucks sorry to say it's a temple he should work with us ppl that goes there and feel they love for god and not make he's own rules!! read more

I went to the temple today for Janmashtami, just to start with I checked the website which showed the temple is open. After reaching the Temple at 2.20 PM we came to know that Temple will open at 3.00 PM. So we waited for more than 40 minutes and went IN. The priest was very rude, we went in to pray and this guy comes from inside and sends us to wash our hands. I am like I came from home to pray, taking bath so that was weird and if they wanted then it should be displayed somewhere. Than he started asking me from which part of India I came from and I don't know why should that come in the picture unless this guy is a racist. I mentioned I don't want to answer this and I came to have blessings from God and don't need to answer these kind of questions. My intention was also to encourage my daughter to come to temple often but with this kind of behavior, I highly doubt if I was successful. I am a big fan of this temple but one huge request to the temple management: the new mandir timing specially the recent 6 pm closure of temple on all days is most ridiculous timing. Here is the reason : This makes it impossible for all the major mainstream devotees busy with office meetings and work and kids to complete their task and come to pay their respect to temple. Please increase the time window to at least 8 pm as before unless you don't want anyone to come and be part of this amazing temple. That is reason of my 4 star rating (I am a fan of this temple) which will become 5 star if the timings are made optimal for devotees. I would like to see more and more devotees for our this great temple. read more

I should preface this by saying I'm not Hindu. But two years ago, I took a religion class in college where a final paper required students to visit a place of worship that is not of Judeo-Christian origin. I came by and talked with the head person about coming in and observing. He was very welcoming and encouraged me to talk with some of the people there. I ended up talking about Hinduism and it's parallels with other religions to one of the people hanging out there. He explained to me what the service being held was about and its significance in terms of worship. I learned so much. At the end of the service, they invited me to have dinner with the rest of the worshippers and offered me to eat a bunch of yummy dinner. I couldn't say no and I was glad that I did because the food was delicious. Everyone was so friendly and I have nothing bad to say about this place. read more

This is a great Hindu temple in Penninsula. I've been going to this temple for almost 14 years. Pandit ji is very welcoming and humble. Every time I go, I enjoy a great conversation with him. I've seen him in action during Tuesdays Ramayan path, Mahashivratri, Janmashtami and many more events. He is a very scholar, intelligent, soft spoken, yet very humble in behavior. I've never seen a priest who remembers hundreds of devotee's names and family members. I recommend everyone this temple. read more

We recently worked with the temple to organize a series of discourses by Swami Mukundananda ji at Sanatan Mandir San Bruno. The experience was quite wonderful. The temple leadership including Satish ji, the temple president, and Pandit Jaleshwar ji, the temple priest, is very pleasant to deal with. They were very gracious in accommodating our needs and supported us fully in ensuring the program was successful. The temple itself is simple, spacious, and provides a very tranquil experience. It is obvious the primary motive of the temple leadership is to serve the community of devotees in their spiritual journey. I have been coming to this temple for over 5 years. This is the place where I found the most knowledgeable priest who knows Sanskrit really well and pronunciation of mantras are clear and very powerful. The only thing I have complain about this temple is the statues. This temple need to invest some money on murtis. My home murtis are bigger and glowing than what they have in this temple. Money from the donation box need to be invested on Bhagwan murtis. read more

The only priest i have seen here in a really long time. He is nice, but the most important thing is he knows what he is doing and he enjoys that. I have heard his chantings and its unbelievable how good his sanskrit is. Its hard to find a pundit in america who is still indian from heart and follows all the rules and regulation. Pundit ji have been coming to our house during navratri's and does incredible prayers. We have grown a lot because of his prayers. All I have to say about this temple is that the interior is very dull. They need more murtis and they need to be more visible. read more

Namaste to the worshipers. we visited this temple 2 years ago, afternoon. The mandir is spacious, but really needs a big renovation. The place of worship where all the Bay area high income people go for prayers is crying out for some energy and work to beautify. It has the potential of a beautiful place to worship. The pandit ji that we met was very nice. He put tika on us. One thing for sure the priests make a big difference in the spirit of puja and that if you want to visit again or not. I attended this temple (Oct. 22, 2012) with offerings and a chance to better understand my religion as a Hindu devotee. To my shock while waiting inline to present my offerings the head priest lost his temper at a pair of old ladies over the presentation of there offerings. He was very rude, and belittled them in front of everyone "calling them ignorant." Instead of advising them the proper way (if there is one), he just screamed, and shouted. As the line continued he belittle other people, and the majority of the line grew very upset (someone advised me this was a common occurrence). The head priest, when questioned by a devotee, on what merits the correct presentation, the priest grew very belligerent and emprise his judgment was the gods rule and soon a shouting match ensued inside the temple. read more

Excellent place. Everyone there are very friendly. I visit the temple very often. They celebrate every other Indian festival in a grand way.. I often ask my friends to visit this Sanatan Temple. Please visit the temple and for sure you will like the place. I contributed for a Preeti Bhoj for my son on one Tuesday, it was well organized and everything was very well taken care. I visited Sanatan Mandir on a weekday on the second anniversary of my Dad's passing. I had nothing specific in mind but just wanted to spend some time reflecting. I asked the Pandit if there was something I could do in terms of a small puja / offering. He initially misunderstood that my Dad had passed on that very day and naturally hesitated to volunteer anything of that magnitude on short notice! He eventually understood that it was a second anniversary and unnecessarily apologized for his completely understandable English. He asked me to sit down for a few minutes while he attended to a few of the other devotees then proceeded to go through a wonderful and detailed set of prayers on my behalf!! He then offered me several fruits and sweets as prasad to take home and encouraged me to bring my family to "our temple". I thank Pandit Jaleshwar for creating a moment where I could reflect fondly on my Dad and reach out in mind and soul.
