I've been to Yasuragi a couple of times throughout the years and it's been a one-of-a-kind experience. If you just imagine "Large Japanese Onsen designed in Sweden and mostly frequented by Swedes" then you will know precisely what to expect here. This is not a cozy onsen tucked away in some forest in Japan. This is a very large facility complete with many different pools to relax in, saunas, several restaurants, and various spa amenities. The pools themselves come in all kinds of versions from tranquil, tiered outdoor versions to a small "cavern" section that has a unique vibe to it. The ryokan rooms have their own hot spring in them although personally I didn't use that much because the rest of the property is so interesting to explore. The only downside to the this place is that the food is just O.K. Expect really average versions of Japanese cuisine here. Even the teppanyaki is sub-Benihana so avoid that entirely. It is obviously very popular with the locals and there have always been quite few people when I've been here. However, they do not appear to accept children and most of the people staying are couples. Recommended for a one-of-kind experience in the world but plan on eating better meals in Stockholm. read more

Guys..my husband is a manly man, you know the Mulan Be A Man song? Yah I'm pretty sure that's his theme song. This tough guy though loooovves European spas and parading around in pretty themed pools and slippers. It'll be our little secret. When planning our trip to Sweden I found Yasuragi had many fantastic reviews,was featured in blogs and boasting numerous awards. We checked in here for one night and had a great welcome. The entrance is beautiful and you are greeted with slippers, a robe, and a black bathing suit. Our basic room was small but comfortable with a nice bed and beautiful shower. I definitely was all about the heated tile floors for my footsies. The spa activities were pretty extensive and there was so much more to see and do than we had time for with only one night. We didn't enjoy any of the massages or other spa treatments. There was a fun pedicure area with fish tanks we didn't get a chance to explore. Even the schedule filled with relaxation techniques, yoga, and mind and body exploration classes was something we couldn't spare time for. What we did enjoy was the very large spa area with beautiful modern and Asian inspired water features. Cold plunge pools complimented by different hot tubs were refreshing. There were saunas, steam rooms, and a beautiful large pool with different areas for relaxation. My favorite though was the cascading hot tubs outside with views of the water and perfect sunset and sunrises over Stockholm. The changing rooms were pretty nice as well with private hot tubs for relaxation. The meals we had at the restaurant that night and the next morning were both enjoyable and there were several items that were gluten free that I could easily eat. Breakfast included a huge display of delicious items buffet style. By the time we were forced to leave we had grown pretty comfy in our steamy delicious environment. The restaurants here are good, except when they aren't. Tonight (Christmas Day, Dec 25), we had booked an overnight stay with a Nagi three-course dinner, and all of the courses, service, and English spoken were a bit lacking. The last at least brought some amusement, as we puzzled over what we had just been presented, as the first waiter left us to ponder our options: three courses, any you like, all served together, unless it's a dessert, the ramen Finnish. My partner had surmised that ramen would be served as a finisher, I that it was some Finnish peculiarity in the ramen department. When we ordered genmaicha tea, from another waiter, we heard that genmaicha also Finnish, concluding that they had actually run out of both, and that both waiters spoke the same brand of pidgin English. How does a Japanese restaurant ever run out of tea, though?! Later overhearing another table that ordered in Swedish, we also confirmed that yes, "X finish" indeed meant they had run out of X. We ordered the duck breast, chicken skewers, oizushi sushi, moriawase sushi, sorbet, and pannacotta, and a cucumber flavoured sparkling drink. These people do not know what a pannacotta is -- it was some very disappointing dense sponge cakes, over-whipped cream almost turned butter, ketchup-spritzeled with raspberry sauce. The soda was at best a palate cleanser, and all but one of the moriawase sushi piece types (three kinds, two each, plus the four oizushi pieces) were boring. The other dishes were a bit overpoweringly umami-savoury; much too heavy for the companion rice dish. Service took forever. The baths are nice, and the lighting somehow makes all the brutalist concrete look quite lovely. We also attended a stellar sound journey held in English, after attendees were polled for "anyone not speaking Swedish?", and us raising a hand. The rooms are nice and functional, but the bedding less soft than the lovely bamboo ones they sell in one of the companion stores. read more

The spa requires you to wear their bathing suits and use their robes it's mandatory including your dining experience we were mixed with other people who have come into the hotel just for dinner it's very uncomfortable to have dinner in your bathing suit. Additionally the food was terrible and took over an hour to be served. Very little choice and very poor service in the restaurant. read more

My family and I ended our Sweden vacation with Yasuragi Hasseludden. It was a very relaxing and fun day spa. The service is great, the place is very clean and the we joint the Qi Kong class and Yoga Class which is pretty interesting. With all the heavy meals we have eaten during our trip, it was nice to have a ... 'balanced dinner' before we board our plane. It was a beautiful way to end a happy vacation. read more

Yasuragi is a beautiful place to calm down and relax. For Valentines day, me and my boyfriend booked the overnight Teppanyaki package. It was quite expensive but a great experience. The atmosphere is great and you feel so relaxed in your yukata (bath robe) that everyone wears, and there's Japanese music playing in the background. When you arrive, you get your yukata, swimsuit and slippers, and you keep this for the rest of your visit. You can even take the yukata and swimsuit home if you want to. When we arrived at 3pm (which was check in time) our room wasn't ready, but we got access to the swimming pools and since there are lockers in the changing area, we didn't really need our room at the time. If you haven't been to Yasuragi before, I recommend that you go to the introduction to the Japanese bath which is held many times every day. The warm pools are a major highlight of the visit. You can sit in 40 c water with a great view of the Stockholm archipelago. They also have a small cold pool next to a sauna, which is also really nice to try out. There are also a lot of arranged activities in the Dojo, but they were scheduled during odd hours so we weren't able to try them. We had dinner in Teppanyaki which was the best part about visiting Yasuragi. The food was delicious (although the portions were a little too small) and it was fun to see the chef make it in front of us. Since there are very few Teppanyaki resutaurants in Stockholm, I recommend taking the opportunity to try this at Yasuragi. The tasting menu came with an optional drink package for 365 SEK which was fun to try, and the drinks complimented the food very well. The hotel rooms are Japanese-inspired, but for such an expensive hotel I would say that they are too basic. Also, there is no roomservice available and they didn't have body lotion in the rooms. The breakfast had a lot to choose from, and the Tokyo restaurant was nice to sit in. I really enjoyed the breakfast smoothies. Yasuragi is very environmental-friendly and a lot of things were organic which at most times is really good. However, at Yasuragi they don't serve meat on Mondays which I didn't know in advance. If I'd known, I would've booked a different day to get the full breakfast experience. If you haven't been there, I recommend that you go, and choose the Teppanyaki dinner to get a unique food experience that's probably not available anywhere else in Sweden. read more

My father-in-law gave us the top overnight package as a Christmas present a few years ago, and WOW. It was on par with a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but perhaps we'll have the spectacular fortune of going again at some point in our lifetimes. Having lived in Japan briefly, the Japanese style bath, some of the traditions, and the overall attention to detail were familiar to me, but to someone who hasn't experienced that before, the experience would just be that much more unique. I can't say enough good things about this place. If you are looking for a spectacular anniversary, birthday, wedding, retirement, etc. gift for someone, look no further. Yasuragi is unforgettable; especially with the deluxe suites and amazing dinner. Sidenote: It's also one of the few places outside of Japan where you can find Japanese breakfast! read more

In short: pretty bad customer service when asked to go beyond the usual, nice but certainly not peaceful facilities during the weekend, and really poor quality control. In general, a pretty decent value for the money and experience, even though it is expensive when looking at everything upfront. In not so short (but not shortened as I have hit the limit :) I have wanted to come here for quite some time based on a lot of good recommendations and my girlfriend and I randomly decided to come for an overnight on Saturday. There is an extra fee, fairly substantial to come here on Saturday night and it's the busiest day so avoid that if possible. The first thing I discovered was the standard rooms are very small -- not necessarily a problem considering you are there to enjoy the spa for much of the time, but also not meeting my imagination considering it's high reputation. Shortly after we walked in, so did our neighbors and it felt as if they were walking into the same room. There was zero sound isolation and you could hear everything they were saying and doing quite clearly. We left and went to enjoy the rest of the facilities. The spa itself was VERY crowded. In the main spa lounge people were moving around like a chaotic hoard and it was the opposite of what I would call calm and relaxed. This was just before the first "Introduction" session so lots of people were waiting around before heading out to the baths. The next journey was to the men's changing room which I later figured out is one of the main attractions with Japanese style washing buckets and a regular old sauna. Heading out to the public pools there is a very large swimming pool of fairly cool temperature and several levels of shallow sitting pools outside which were not very hot at all when we first arrived but seemed warmer at night and the day after. These were VERY crowded as well and here I have to say that if you are going to charge a lot extra on the weekends you should also take in mind the number of visitors you will allow to make sure that people that do come on the busiest days still get a good experience. There was little that was peaceful and calm about Yaseragi in my experience. In general, when my expectations were not met, I lowered them and still found the spa nice, but certainly nothing wildly out of the ordinary. It does have a lovely situation in nature and it's very nice, if warm enough, to sit out on the decks with some hot tea or snacks (they have free fresh fruit you can grab in the lounge and other things for purchase there). The dinner was nice and one dish with chicken skin sushi was fantastic -- but most of the other small dishes they serve were just ok. In general I would definitely not come here for the food, nor the atmosphere of the dining hall. The wait service was quite bad. They forgot to bring out the dessert and didn't check on us for literally 40 minutes. Our waiter walked by us many times and had long conversations with some of our neighbors but seemed to have no idea we existed. Not a great experience but neither were we in a rush. The breakfast was quite a nice buffet. What was truly terrible with the room. First there is a door between the rooms, which adds greatly to the noise problem as there is only a door on one side. The lock was not facing our room so when we tried the door we found that it actually seemed to be open. We could push it open enough to see into the other room and notice they had their lights on and etc. This was at 10pm and we weren't sure if they were home so we were not keen on testing the limits. I called the front desk and someone came down (who was very nice) and checked the door from our side and also thought it open. She went into their room (they were out as it happens) and saw the lock was broken but a 2nd lock was installed at the top of the door which is why we could push it open a bit. She told us she couldn't move us since they were sold out and asked if we felt safe enough. Later the neighbors did come home and we heard every breath of their champagne popping, sex, and TV as clear as day. I wonder if they knew about the sound situation and if they would feel comfortable with this. I brought this up with the front desk the next morning. I spent about 30 minutes of our morning at the spa talking with them since they basically were only interested in giving us an extra 4 hours at the spa or 500kr off the 4500kr bill. For me at least, the experience was about spending a quiet and romantic night outside the city and I would not have come if I knew how terrible the rooms were. They claimed they had never heard this complaint before but they had just finished renovating our wing of the hotel (the window knob was also broken, and our sink drain didn't work properly also...), but their reaction should have immediately been "What can we do to fix this for you?" not haggling with me over 500kr. LOVED it here! We bought an overnight package with a dinner, breakfast and lunch. The service is spectacular, everyone is very attentive and are there to make sure you have a relaxing enjoyable stay. You receive / get to keep a nice Kimono style robe, bathing suit and funny little shoes. The rooms are modest and very Japanese inspired. The views are incredible - the place is so serene, in the middle of the forrest with trails you can walk down to the water. The hot baths outside are super nice/relaxing with the view. The pool inside is massive and excellent for laps or just cooling off from the sauna/hot baths. The Yoga class is beginner and very basic, I only wish they had a couple other options - as it was not quite the work out I was looking for, but it was really excellent for some of the other guests who had never tried Yoga before. The sounds class was incredibly relaxing /mesmerizing - highly recommend! The absolute, hands down, BEST part of the whole experience - The DINNER! We did not have high expectations for the food, we assumed it would be basic, nothing fancy - we were totally WOWWED! The food was OUTSTANDING!!!! Every single course, every single bite was delicious! You must order the tuna sushi for an appetizer, the best sushi I have ever had in Sweden! All the main courses and desserts were incredible! You can't go wrong. I would go back to Yasuragi just for the dinner date in the future! read more

Yasuragi delivers as usual, this was the valentines weekend so quite crowded, but since the recent expansion there is still room for us all. Highlights include the hot ponds and the new sauna & cold bath. Food is really good, especially for being a hotel outside the city, but even by restaurant standards is quite good and always make me feel really good. Save your money. I really don't understand why it got so good reviews. It's beyond me. Poor service, poor food. I had 2 lunch och 2 dinners. Horrible! Tasteless food and just rice w everything. Chicken and rice. Fish and rice. Meat and rice. The kitchen needs to reinvent themselves. The spa part.. just a few pools outside. Pitch dark. Horrible. Save your money and go somewhere else. read more
