Tonight (Christmas Day, Dec 25), we had…read morebooked an overnight stay with a Nagi three-course dinner, and all of the courses, service, and English spoken were a bit lacking. The last at least brought some amusement, as we puzzled over what we had just been presented, as the first waiter left us to ponder our options: three courses, any you like, all served together, unless it's a dessert, the ramen Finnish. My partner had surmised that ramen would be served as a finisher, I that it was some Finnish peculiarity in the ramen department. When we ordered genmaicha tea, from another waiter, we heard that genmaicha also Finnish, concluding that they had actually run out of both, and that both waiters spoke the same brand of pidgin English. How does a Japanese restaurant ever run out of tea, though?! Later overhearing another table that ordered in Swedish, we also confirmed that yes, "X finish" indeed meant they had run out of X. We ordered the duck breast, chicken skewers, oizushi sushi, moriawase sushi, sorbet, and pannacotta, and a cucumber flavoured sparkling drink. These people do not know what a pannacotta is -- it was some very disappointing dense sponge cakes, over-whipped cream almost turned butter, ketchup-spritzeled with raspberry sauce. The soda was at best a palate cleanser, and all but one of the moriawase sushi piece types (three kinds, two each, plus the four oizushi pieces) were boring. The other dishes were a bit overpoweringly umami-savoury; much too heavy for the companion rice dish. Service took forever. The baths are nice, and the lighting somehow makes all the brutalist concrete look quite lovely. We also attended a stellar sound journey held in English, after attendees were polled for "anyone not speaking Swedish?", and us raising a hand. The rooms are nice and functional, but the bedding less soft than the lovely bamboo ones they sell in one of the companion stores.

This tough guy though loooovves European spas and parading around in pretty themed pools and slippers. It'll be our little secret. When planning our trip to Sweden I found Yasuragi had many fantastic reviews, was featured in blogs and boasting numerous awards. We checked in here for one night and had a great welcome. The entrance is beautiful and you are greeted with slippers, a robe, and a black bathing suit. Our basic room was small but comfortable with a nice bed and beautiful shower. I definitely was all about the heated tile floors for my footsies. The spa activities were pretty extensive and there was so much more to see and do than we had time for with only one night. We didn't enjoy any of the massages or other spa treatments. There was a fun pedicure area with fish tanks we didn't get a chance to explore. Even the schedule filled with relaxation techniques, yoga, and mind and body exploration classes was something we couldn't spare time for. What we did enjoy was the very large spa area with beautiful modern and Asian inspired water features. Cold plunge pools complimented by different hot tubs were refreshing. There were saunas, steam rooms, and a beautiful large pool with different areas for relaxation. My favorite though was the cascading hot tubs outside with views of the water and perfect sunset and sunrises over Stockholm. The changing rooms were pretty nice as well with private hot tubs for relaxation. The meals we had at the restaurant that night and the next morning were both enjoyable and there were several items that were gluten free that I could easily eat. Breakfast included a huge display of delicious items buffet style. By the time we were forced to leave we had grown pretty comfy in our steamy delicious environment. Stepping out into the cold unforgiving Swedish winter was not at all pleasant.

The buses took us all over without any problem. The ride in is through the Swedish countryside, with constant reminders of the shore nearby. There are a number of rooms available at the villa for those spending the night, but this is not a large hotel so space may be limited depending on your venue. The rooms are cozy but very nice, keeping with Swedish simplicity and functionality. The outside deck was a perfect size to watch the sunset with family, friends, drinks and a late night coffee. The deck puts right into the water (no railings) so watch your step unless you plan on going in. If you do, the sauna is nearby. I did not use these myself but reports indicated they had been exceptional. It is not one big room but a number of smaller private areas to relax. The Dinning area was substantial but all of the charming characteristics of the space had been maintained. This was by no means a big cold boxy US hotel ball room. -gag- The Villa staff was on top of everything. Food came out hot and on schedule. It was amazing. I really wish I had taken photos but I was getting to know my new family and truly enjoying myself. Now I believe that any good wedding venue or other large event depends on both the venue staff as much as the clients planning. This event was magnificently orchestrated without excessive fuss. The Swedes are a reserved but charming people and it really came through. Us Americans have no shame when it comes to breaking the ice and getting things going. So these two qualities and many more meshed well and resulted in a great time. This makes it difficult to distinguish between the Villa and the wedding party. After the meal we headed down to the dance floor to enjoy the booming sounds from a band that was bought in for this event. They did an amazing job and people danced until the plug was pulled. We made our way out to a cab that had been called in and headed back to Stockholm. The drive was about 30 minutes and about 60 Dollars I believe. Swedish premium cabs are BMW's. So pretty good. Those that spent the night had a nice morning. With a bit of swimming, Bloody Mary's and of course the saunas. Breakfast is in there someplace. Highly recommended for a special event. Villa Soludden helped facilitate a wonderful event.

It had a great view an really made you feel like your in they heart of the island. I decided against staying here for dinner as the lines were long and reviews were low. For an island as small as this is there is a lot of reviews for n against places. After following a restaurant earlier today that had great reviews I've decided to not waste my short time here an go with what's recommended. There's actually a couple of other restaurants outside of the gots that you would enjoy as well. This is a very small place so don't expect a lot. We enjoyed strolling around and just soaking it all in. We would definitely return :)

Incorrect charges and unsatisfactory service…read more Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was very negative. I got a message via Whatsapp from the Hotel prior to the checkout, offering a transportation service to the Airport. I asked and I was told by the reception that this service was included in the stay and would be free of charge. However, after the transportation, I was wrongly charged nearly €40 for this service. When I tried to resolve the issue with management, the response was unsatisfactory and even arrogant. Management claimed it was a misunderstanding and said I should have asked beforehand - which is strange because I did ask and received a clear response that the service was included. After requesting a refund, I was told it was not possible, but they could offer a 50% discount on a future stay, which is completely unreasonable since the issue should have been resolved at that moment, and not trying to get more money with this situation. I recommend avoiding this hotel if you are looking for honest and professional service. The lack of transparency and the uninterested attitude from management made the experience frustrating and unresolved.

There is both a ferry and a bus stop within a 5-minute walk from the front door. Their breakfast is my favorite hotel breakfast out of all the places I've been in the world. There are multiple options for fresh breads, yogurts, breakfast meats, eggs cooked multiple ways, a medley of juices, and fresh coffee. The staff member named Adis was very kind and knowledgeable, and she represented both the hotel and the Swedish people well. The price was fair as well. Nacka Strand's neighborhood is quiet compared to the middle of Stockholm, and there is a large grocery store named ICA Maxi a 20-minute walk away. There is also a shopping mall named Nacka Forum a 20-minute walk away. I would say it takes 20 minutes or less via public transportation to the middle of Stockholm. Hotel J is the best place to stay near the Stockholm area for most.
