I am a disabled veteran. Moved to Arizona just to attend their Gunsmithing program. I had way too much trouble getting instructors to comply with my approved accommodations. Attempts by Disability Resources director and me fell on deaf ears at least to the Dean of Students level. I filed a Title IX complaint with the Department of Education and agreed to mediation. I continued to have problems and the agreement was violated. I once informed my dean of a current ADA violation. He did absolutely nothing. I never could find out if the college even has an ADA coordinator. If they do, it is a deep, dark secret. I do not recommend this college for anyone with disabilities. read more

I too have issues regarding Monika the title 9 coordinator. I was assaulted by a teacher and now they want to punish me bc I called her a bit... Yet the issue was a simple issue with the teacher violating school policy and federal and state law. But Monika is not handling this at all by law or doing any email by appropriate manner in schools professionalism clauses. This is now Feb, 25 2025. read more

Amazingly solid junior college, that also offers bachelors degrees and housing solution. SOLID counselors to help as you progress. Tania Sheldahl is my counselor for YC and has provided priceless service. I'm pursuing multiple degrees, and am utilizing the school's housing solutions. All of the technical things that Tania has been spot on with in terms of managing her time, her schedule, calendar, follow-up, and generally understanding her profession has been PRICELESS and enable me to 'return' to school with virtually no issues and be able to just focus on the learning and executing piece. I would recommend YC for traditional students as well as those returning to school and or attending online. SOLID well rounded school and staff. read more

Farmers Market at Yavapai College: This is a very small market. All that said, they have many local farms with beautiful produce for reasonable prices to choose from. Serval bakeries, local honey, local tamales etc. Coming from Phoenix, it's refreshing to have the availability of buying fresh veggies this time of year. I bought 3 large yellow and green zucchini's, a couple cucumbers, fresh beets, large sweet onions and some tri color carrots. I already broke into the cucumber and it was a good choice. The one bakery had incredible pies. I bought a small Dutch Apple and some coconut macaroons (gluten free for me!) I also bought some local farmed chicken breaat and a dozen fresh multi color eggs. Can't wait to taste those eggs! It's a small venue but worth the stop if you're in the area. The venders were very friendly and approachable. read more

Was approached by trolling staff and Campus Police Officers multiple times over a week at the College cafeteria. .... Police lied to me two of those times immediately informing me that I was on private property (College here is public property). .... Then after I knew my rights, some staff members in the Cafeteria took their turn attempting to troll me. ...I know my rights to their dismay, as they kept attempting to find reasons to unlawfully trespass me (wasn't going to happen). ...So I figured that the Cafeteria staff would then call the Campus Police on me again, which is exactly what happened. .... Campus Police then approached me, and then acted overly obscene to me. ... They then unlawfully trespassed me from the whole College, and they also had violated my Constitutional rights twice in the process (Felonies against me). ....Now I have requested all of the employees names that had trolled me in the College cafeteria through Public records. ....They are now getting sued along with the criminal Police Officers here. read more

Went to see a performance at the College. Nice seats and noticed that the usual College cliques of people who need to be seen by others buzz around the seats. Maybe some people's-self esteems need a boost. read more

the worst experience ever to send my son to a school with coach jay joyner playing daddy basketball! this not high school! over half the team walked off! a real coach develop kids not run them off a team and disrespect young kids! he cant win a game! he force the team to give his son the ball or he take them out the game! his son cant produce a win! got the most turnovers! its about equal opportunity for kids doing what they love to do! i feel bad for every kid left on the team came with a dream to have their spirits broke down by a team coach. read more

Yavapai College--What A Place to Go to School A short while ago, I was looking for a college to transition back into a productive career by learning new skills. I went to campuses all over Arizona, looking for one that not only fit my needs but those of my service dog who also wanted to go to college. A friend of mine informed me about Yavapai College, a community college In Prescott that has an excellent reputation in fine arts and computer science. After a very profitable day of touring the campus and meeting very helpful people, I became confident that Yavapai college is where I wanted to attend because of the small beautifully-landscaped campus, friendly students, welcoming instructors, and thoughtful staff that was ready to accommodate my disabilities and needs. The first thing that I had spotted was two flags beating in the wind. It was a rousing sight and set the mood for what was to come that morning. Being patriotic, I love to see the flags proudly flying, flapping, and the noise brought my full attention to the beauty of the green mountainside, pine trees, flowering bushes, and architecture around them. I continued in my quest to find out if this was the college for me. I turned to the center building and went in thinking I was entering the administration building. I tasted dampness in the air, a rise in humidity that made it harder for me to breathe,. I became aware of the rhythmic sound of volleyball players in the middle of a lively match. I had gone into the gymnasium, and there was a pool somewhere near. I envisioned going to classes taking a break, swimming, and going back to class rejuvenated, ready to finish the day. Excited by these thoughts, instead of turning around and retracing my steps, I went on. I decided to explore the area and find the pool, but I had to ask for directions. This place was more extensive than I had thought, so I walked up to a woman who looked essential, and boldly asked where the pool was. The instructor took the time to show me around and explain what key role she performed at the institution. It was ineffable how much this impressed me when this professor took time out of her day to show me around. I was astounded and made up my mind at that moment that I was going to go to this fascinating school, but there were still things to see and work to be done. I made my way to the administration building to find out more about the college. I met with an Advisor and we talked about my plans. She wondered what I wanted to major in. I had not thought about it, horrified with the fundamental purpose of evaluating schools. I had not even considered why I was going to school. The Advisor showed me ways to help me decide on a promising career. She gave me valuable time showing me about grants, scholarships, and avenues of help available to me. I was surprised by the professional way I was being guided to my goal--finding what's right for me. I met an incredible person and felt more comfortable in deciding where I wanted to go to school. I was getting hungry, and they guided me to the cafeteria. As I walked up the hill, I noticed that the campus was small, and it did not take much effort to traverse. I looked up to see a wondrous place for a dog to hang out, and the fresh-cut grass evocatively flared up my hay fever, causing me to sneeze. Isabella towed me to the grass and rolled over on her back, rubbing back and forth, twisting, and turning just having a great time. I was so delighted to see her act like a puppy. I went into the cafeteria, and the fragrance of stir fry was in the air, making my mouth water and intensifying my hunger. Getting past the door which startled Isabella, we strolled into the library with Isabella boldly prancing in tow. I noticed rows and rows of books on shelves surrounding us, beckoning tomes of art and literature, and knowledge on every shelf just waiting to be discovered. The soft carpet diminished the sound of people moving by, and ergonomically soundproof rooms were available for students to collaborate in groups. I was impressed by the intelligent layout of the whole library. Everything was color-coded, making it easier to find the right articles to research when preparing to compose essays. The people whom I met that day were sensitive and kind. They were respectful and valuable. There were no barriers to age, gender, race, politics, religion, and social class. The small class size makes it easier for instructors to dedicate an incredible amount of time to my welfare and education, inspiring me to study harder, eventually achieving my goals in a profession chosen and studied in college. The small well laid out campus made it easy for me to walk around without difficulty. I chose this college because of that first day's impression and the love displayed to my dog, Isabella. Everyone I met was friendly and eager to help. I was going to this college! read more

I am a student in my fourth semester and I am excited to be finishing my general education because the credits are so transferable! This school has such a variety of interesting classes that can go towards any degree! If you are thinking about persuing a degree or just going to take a more elective type class I suggest this community college. All the teachers that I have are amazing and the prices are better than if you tried to do them at a university. read more
