I've been coming here consistently since July 2023, usually 4 to 6 days a week every single week,…read moreso this place has genuinely been a huge part of my routine and community. My Google review from a year ago gave this place five stars because it truly felt like an amazing space built around dogs, community, and responsible ownership. Looking back at that review now honestly makes the decline even more disappointing, because even just a year ago this place felt completely different in the best way. This place is supposed to be a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs and the people who love them. For many members, our dogs are family, and that's why the recent direction of the business has become genuinely heartbreaking and honestly alarming to watch. A growing number of members are becoming deeply uncomfortable with the decision to repeatedly host large rave-style events at a facility specifically designed for dogs. After previous events, there were already serious concerns about the condition of the property afterward, even after professional cleaning crews had supposedly finished. Members and staff still found debris throughout the space and parking lot and many people are now questioning whether any environment used for late-night parties like this can realistically ever be cleaned well enough to guarantee dogs are safe there afterward. Dogs spend their entire time at this facility with their noses on the ground, sniffing turf, licking surfaces, and putting things in their mouths. That is exactly what dogs do. The idea that dangerous substances, residue, pills, or other hazardous materials could potentially be missed during cleanup is terrifying for pet owners. One mistake could have DEVASTATING consequences for someone's dog. The best comparison I can make is this: imagine if a daycare hosted large rave parties at night and then told parents the next morning that everything had been cleaned and was safe again. Most parents would never feel comfortable with that. That is exactly how many dog owners are starting to feel here. What made this weekend especially upsetting was learning that the business was supposed to reopen after the latest event, only for members to then receive notice that the facility would remain closed due to cleanup issues, with uncertainty about reopening even the next day. That only reinforced concerns that these events are creating problems far beyond a normal private party. At the same time, members continue paying premium annual fees while receiving reduced operating hours, less access, ongoing inventory problems at the bar, and repeated closures tied to outside events. Many people joined because this was marketed as a community-centered space focused on dogs, safety and responsible ownership. Lately, it feels like those priorities are no longer coming first. I know several members who are already questioning whether they will renew their memberships because trust in the safety and direction of the business is starting to disappear.

The Madison Street Park is located North of Kennedy Grand Central, South of Bell Channelside, and East of Channelside Club off Madison Street and Meridian, North of Kennedy. The developer of Martin at Meridian, Ken Stoltenberg of Mercury Advisors, donated a portion of the land he purchased for his property to the park. The Madison Street Park features 2 gated dog parks, an event space, a putting green, 3 shaded areas, a 2 water fountain for dogs, 3 water fountain for people, picnic tables, benches, 5 lounge chairs, a kids play area, climbing blocks, a mixed-use recreation court for volleyball or pickleball, and 2 shuffleboard courts. There is also plenty of space to relax and enjoy the outdoors. I heard that there would be a 51-foot arched bench consisting of thousands of pieces of hand-blown Tampa Bay inspired glass art by artist Susan Gott but it is not featured at the park yet. Perhaps the artist is running behind schedule or decided not to feature her art at the park after all. I hope she does add it when she finishes it. It sounded like a beautiful piece of art that would be great for the park! The Madison Street Park provides a nice respite of a natural green space in the urban concrete jungle of the Channelside District area. The benefits of the Madison Street Park will be improved health and well-being for the neighborhood. The Madison Street Park is a perfect addition to the Channelside area to give everyone in Channelside a place for their dogs to have unleashed fun within a block or 2 from their residence. The Madison Street Park is 2 blocks south of the Deputy Kotfila Memorial Dog Park and 2 blocks north of Washington Street Park. Compared to these 2 parks, this park is larger and superior in every way! I look forward to many more visits to here in the future and am so happy to finally get this park Downtown! It is a very pretty and well thought out park! I highly recommend you visit if you have a dog and are in the downtown Tampa Channelside area!

The second time, I decided to actually go to the park after I finished the Ybor City State Museum and there was some sort of cupcake festival going on. The third time I came there was a farmers market. They hold the Saturday market every Saturday morning and I believe they recently started doing the market again with COVID precautions. When there are no events, this appears to be a place that many of the homeless people hang out since there's actually some shade over here. So the park is shared by the homeless and the roosters and chickens. I did like all the chickens and roosters running around. Apparently, they are protected by city ordinance. I learned in the Ybor City Museum or maybe it was the Henry B Plant museum that the roosters and chickens that roam the streets of Ybor City and the Centennial Park are the descendants of the birds that were first brought over by the first settlers of Ybor City. So they actually have legal free range to roam as they please. Pretty cool, huh? So try to abide by the speed limit and don't harm or chase them. I also like that the Saturday Market tends to change vendors often so you might find something different each time you come. If you're trying to make a day of it, try the Ybor City Walking Tour that is usually on Yelp! Events or go to the Ybor City State Museum which is right across the street from the park. If you don't want to pay for parking, there are several areas around the park that you don't have to pay for.
