Lune eyeballing the dogs at the beach

Just updating... the trash cans are all up front now. County workers are scared of dogs,so they are out of the park in the "waiting" area. Lol! The mosquitos are bad on the grassy beach side, and no see ums will get ya too. That being said, this is the best dog beach in Tampa Bay for dogs that loves water. If your male dog has his nuts still this beach will test him. The fixed dogs will not stop messing with him outta jealousy i think. It gets crazy sometimes during the 10-2 rush of people. I love this place with my soul, the random cuteness is overwhelming. Nothing like a new dog getting controllable zoomies! Do yourself a favor and try it once even if you don't have a dog. Watch your step though, rich people don't like to clean up!

Had the best time of my life visiting the Davis Island Dog Beach! Everyone comes to bring their pups to get to swim or play off leash on this beach! Its such a great thing to go to chill at if you have a dog that is good with other pups/ love & is safe in the water! Just make sure to keep on eye on ur pup as they dont have any park rangers etc Its free and so nice to do on a lovely day!

2nd gated area that seems to be quieter

Great place! No cost to get in. As mentioned previously, it is fenced off, which I really appreciated. The first fenced in area is smaller in sq ft, has no rocks and is just beach. The second fenced in area has beach access and a large grassy area where some owners like to play fetch with their fur babies. There are benches and a picnic table further down. The beach is more covered with rocks, trees, bushes, but still easily accessible. It is quieter towards the back. I even saw several people reading and working on laptops, enjoying the great view and weather. Don't be like me and slip on the algae rocks. My adventure time gone wrong! LOL I was barefoot and my foot got a little scuffed. Still, my pup, Ellie and I had a good time walking, running and swimming. I did keep Ellie on leash because she can get possessive of me and show inappropriate behaviors so I have her close to continue her training with socializing. However, everyone else's pups did great around her!

Very nice dog beach and dog park close by and plenty of parking. Also there is a dog wash station trailer located in the parking lot.

Wonderful dog beach in Tampa. This beach is closed off with a fence and dogs are allowed off leash. One thing to keep in mind is that the "beach" is located in the bay...so the water is not the nicest. Murky and dark. That being said, there is very few dog beaches in Tampa so we visit Davis Island close to 2x/month! The dogs have a blast. There is a small area at the entrance with cement flooring and two hoses to clean the dogs, however my dogs end up getting dirty just walking out of the dog park to the car so I rarely wash them there (I'd rather do it at home). Side note: this is not a beach where you'd want to bring a towel And lay down. The sand/water isn't THAT nice, so I'd recommend standing or playing with your dog rather than sitting/lying. However There are a few picnic tables to sit at.

    My dogs loved the park!!

This is a super cute "beach" fenced off and safe. It looks precarious at first but boy did my pups have fun. Most people keep their dogs in site making sure they behave. The waves are not too bad, there is a decent rock barrier that keeps a safe spot especially for little dogs or not strong swimmers. Would totally go back!

    He was running, I promise.

I am going to preface everything I'm about to say by describing my little buddy. He is a very shy puppy. I've tried to take him to the honeymoon dog beach and he was as miserable as I've ever seen him. He loves other doggos, but is scared of people. Today, I decided to let him try the beach one more time to confirm that he was just "not a beach dog" and that's how today starts.... He was a happy beast! He was comfortable enough to run around like he owned the place and was playing with every dog he saw. Why you ask? I think it was because the place is not SO big that is overwhelming. It was enclosed so I felt more comfortable letting him off the leash and I think he was able to sense that.

Great outdoor fenced in spot at the south end of Davis Island. There is an area for big dogs and little dogs by the water and another very shaded fenced in area for other dogs who are not playing in the sand and water. There is plenty of parking and good signage for the park rules. There is a water fountain for humans and dogs too. There are no bathroom facilities except for a portable toilet sitting in the parking lot.

This beach was so awesome! We are visiting from Texas and it was such a great place to take our dogs. The beach is clean and enclosed by a gate so the dogs were able to run off leash. There is a washing station to rinse the pups off when you're heading out. I would recommend bringing a bowl for water while at the park and then dog shampoo to wash them after you're done. We will be making time to come back before we leave!

Highly recommend this little piece of heaven for our fur babies. Absolutely chill, low key, good vibe, people are super friendly & it's a very safe gated piece of mind. Next hot summer day, you're baby will thank you.

Davis Island Dog Beach is a lovely place to bring your dog to burn off some steam and socialize with other canines. Plenty of parking available and nice, expansive grounds (grassy area beyond beach/fence is a nice area in which dogs could run) make this a great choice for an active dog. I find that the patrons are nice and friendly overall. There are also "Friends of Davis Island Dog Park", people who band together for the good of the dog park, which can be found on Facebook I believe. The ground is sandy and has some patches of vegetation. A grassy, more rocky coastline area exists beyond a gate/fence which is good for dogs to run around on. The "beach" is located in an industrial area so the water quality could be questionable but I feel that it's safe. The water is generally clean (although I have seen some pollution) and the grounds are kept nice. There are several dog bag stations and trash receptacles for use. In addition, there are several benches and picnic tables to sit at and relax while your pooch(es) run around. The view of downtown Tampa and the water is pretty cool as well. Even though it is situated next to the Pete O' Knight airport, the noise from aircraft has never been an issue for me-I have never seen a plane depart or land. The park also boasts a water fountain and two hoses to hose off your dog once s/he gets sandy. Remember to bring a towel and/or shampoo if that's your thing. The location is nice, as it is on the water, however but one must loop around the entire area of the airport via road to access it. That's the only thing that annoys me about the park. Otherwise I love the park and the atmosphere there!

It was my favorite dog beach to take my dog! It has a fence around and they have a special area where you can wash your dog after. There are a couple of tables available where you can sit down while your dog is having fun. There are a lot of dogs, especially it is super crowded during the weekend. You can bring your own beach chairs if you like. There is a big parking available, I never had a problem parking my car. The only thing I will recommend is to check the quality of water before taking your dog there. Sometimes water quality is bad and you should not take your dog to the beach.

The beach is very clean. It is fenced in so the dogs are protected from leaving the beach area. The island and self is beautiful. Our grand dogger had an awesome time. we look forward to taking her back again.

We took my pup Elphaba (Elphie) to the dog park side for her 3rd Birthday (adoption day since we don't know the exact date). She came to live with us 2 years ago when she found us on our visit to the Tampa Bay Humane Society! We didn't go to the human side of the park but we saw a decent crowd there and a lot of families. All of the park is quite shady which is nice in Florida. COVID: It was outdoors but if you are worried, there wasn't a mask in sight. There were large groups of people under the pavilion sitting together with no masks. We just stayed away from there. Everyone in the dog park side was completely socially distanced from each other, so no worries on that side. The park could use a little refresh and the biggest problem I found is there is no separation for small dogs. My dog is 9 lbs and she was in the park with dogs who weighed up to 100 lbs and were much larger. At one point I had to rescue her since she was the only small dog and the other dogs began to chase her, flipping her over, and stepping on her. They didn't mean to hurt her but they did by playing too rough for her size. They also need to add more grass if it's possible. Your dog is going to be pretty dirty after a visit since there's a lot of dirt area and very little grass. Otherwise, it's still a great place and it's nice to have a spot to take your dog where he or she can run around and have fun. There are plastic bags at the front gate for you to clean up after your dog. Everyone we saw did so and I never saw any doggy poop in the park area. They have a little, plastic pool you can fill up with water and a couple of dog bowls out for water as well. We spent about an hour to hour and a half there celebrating Elphie's Bday! We shared some peanut butter doggy cheesecake and birthday dog treats with the other visitors and had fun meeting people and their dogs from afar! I'm very grateful to have a dog park close by!

Most streets in the area only allow for parking on one side so be sure to be mindful of this and check the posted signs. It seems that most people who make use of the park live on the neighborhood and everyone I have encountered is very nice. Although I have not actually gone into the other part of the park beyond the dog play area, there is a fenced in area which is good for small gatherings. There are picnic tables under a shelter and a public restroom. There is also a grassy, fenced in area which is suitable to play catch, soccer, or tag or whatever your heart desires. There is also a basketball court and children's' playground play set in addition to a (basic) charcoal grill. The dog park area is fenced and has somewhat sandy ground. There are trees and areas of shade and picnic benches. In the center there is a water station with hoses and water bowls for your four-legged loves. Doggie waste bags are well stocked whenever I've been there. The area can be a bit bug ridden in the evening so it may be smart to cover your skin or wear bug repellent if you have sweet blood. Whenever I bring my dog Sophia she has a marvelous time interacting with other dogs and people. There is plenty of space for her to get her insane amount of energy out. This is one of my favorite dog parks.

Nice local park in far south Tampa…read more I came here with my daughter and my dog. We followed the Google map directions, and we ended up parking just about as far away from the dog park as one can park (if you don't want to circumnavigate the lake, enter the Interbay Little League area off MacDill, and follow the signs to the dog run parking lot). There's a well-kept, paved path around the lake, and there are a few benches here and there to rest and look at the water. The path is not shaded, so be forewarned. The dog park is pretty nice. There are three fenced areas: one for small dogs, one for regular dogs, and one that is for more aggressive dogs. We went into the largest area, which had dogs of all sizes, but all the dogs were good natured. My pup loved running around with all the friendly dogs. The area seemed pretty clean (there are dog bag dispensers and trashcans strategically placed around the area, and owners seemed conscientious.) there was a doggie water fountain, which was a nice touch. There were muddy areas, but who doesn't expect to have to bathe your dog after going to the dog park? There were a few picnic tables for the owners to use, and there were some trees for shade.

I also saw some pretty, bold squirrels, too. The dogs enjoyed chasing the squirrels up the tree and the squirrels seem to enjoy taunting the dogs. I've been coming here consistently since July 2023, usually 4 to 6 days a week every single week,…read moreso this place has genuinely been a huge part of my routine and community. My Google review from a year ago gave this place five stars because it truly felt like an amazing space built around dogs, community, and responsible ownership. Looking back at that review now honestly makes the decline even more disappointing, because even just a year ago this place felt completely different in the best way. This place is supposed to be a safe and enjoyable environment for dogs and the people who love them. For many members, our dogs are family, and that's why the recent direction of the business has become genuinely heartbreaking and honestly alarming to watch. A growing number of members are becoming deeply uncomfortable with the decision to repeatedly host large rave-style events at a facility specifically designed for dogs. After previous events, there were already serious concerns about the condition of the property afterward, even after professional cleaning crews had supposedly finished. Members and staff still found debris throughout the space and parking lot and many people are now questioning whether any environment used for late-night parties like this can realistically ever be cleaned well enough to guarantee dogs are safe there afterward. Dogs spend their entire time at this facility with their noses on the ground, sniffing turf, licking surfaces, and putting things in their mouths. That is exactly what dogs do. The idea that dangerous substances, residue, pills, or other hazardous materials could potentially be missed during cleanup is terrifying for pet owners. One mistake could have DEVASTATING consequences for someone's dog. The best comparison I can make is this: imagine if a daycare hosted large rave parties at night and then told parents the next morning that everything had been cleaned and was safe again. Most parents would never feel comfortable with that. That is exactly how many dog owners are starting to feel here. What made this weekend especially upsetting was learning that the business was supposed to reopen after the latest event, only for members to then receive notice that the facility would remain closed due to cleanup issues, with uncertainty about reopening even the next day. That only reinforced concerns that these events are creating problems far beyond a normal private party. At the same time, members continue paying premium annual fees while receiving reduced operating hours, less access, ongoing inventory problems at the bar, and repeated closures tied to outside events. Many people joined because this was marketed as a community-centered space focused on dogs, safety and responsible ownership. Lately, it feels like those priorities are no longer coming first. I know several members who are already questioning whether they will renew their memberships because trust in the safety and direction of the business is starting to disappear.
