this place is scammy as hell…read more.. i accidentally booked an appointment online looking for a simple quote. one king size mattress pickup. no problem, i called them and asked if i could get a quote for the service i just booked. she quotes me $149. not a great price but i guess it could be worse (spoiler, it DOES get worse). i mention the $20 discount that i receive for booking online. she tells me that i have to mention it to the driver when they get here. no problem. so i should be paying $129.00 day of, right? wrong. the driver shows up today and immediately says "so i have to charge you more money." of course you do. he tells me that even though i listed the pick up as "one king sized mattress" and that is what the quote is for he would still have to charge me a $30 mattress fee for him and his partner to remove it... so what was the first quote for in the first place? for you to just LOOK at my mattress? my quote is now $179 with their convenient little fee. he tells me that the call center that i spoke with in regards to my quote doesn't have the correct pricing or information, which sounds a lot like something YOU AS A COMPANY need to fix, not expect your customers to pay for in extra hidden scummy fees. he did honor my $20 off booking online coupon and he did remove the singular mattress that i asked for, which is why you get two stars. but your company is a scam and will do anything to pinch a buck out of unsuspecting customers. do better. disgusting customer care.

My family and I had a terrible experience working with College Hunks. We just moved about 10…read moreminutes away from our last place, and needed help moving a large, heavy dresser and some other items. I called to get a quote and went over all of the specifics of the move. I let them know that the dresser was big and heavy and two people may have a hard time moving it, but two people with straps delivered it to us previously and it only took them about 5 minutes. The day of the move, a crew of two women showed up. They took about an hour to load up just the dresser because they were having trouble lifting it. Once we arrived to the house, they required our help to unload it. One of the women almost collapsed and called her boss for reinforcement, but he did not answer. When moving the tv, the women brought a box that was too small. We told them only to move it if they believed they could do it safely. When all was said and done, we plugged in our new tv and found it broken. I reached out to College Hunks and they had one of the girls give me a call back. She asked me to send over pictures of the tv to her personal phone (so I did), and she stated that her boss said they can cover 60 cents per pound of the damaged tv. I asked to speak to her boss (which I never got to do), and she texted me back letting me know that her manager says I can file a complaint with PUC. They were very defensive and unprofessional, and now we are out a new $1,200 tv. This move was a nightmare. I would never recommend the College Hunks, and would advise anyone looking for movers to steer clear. Update: I reached out and have not heard back from anyone.

They were able to include two stops (new house and old house), not charging me for the drive between the two. They also took apart a trampoline for me at no extra charge since everything took under 90 mins. I think they did great work, were friendly, professional and were speedy at getting it done. The way they work is they come over for a free estimate and will get to work if you agree to it. I felt the price could have been on the high end, but I did not get any other estimates from other local companies. What made me pull the trigger was that I was just at a point of getting things out.... now :) And I didn't want to go to the junkyard myself and make 3-4 trips. In the end it was about $839 for a full truck ($40 of it was for a futon mattress that the junkyard charges extra to take). So not sure if pricing is typical but that's what I spent for 2 guys getting everything packed and hauled away in 90 minutes.

I used this company last night for a move (a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment into another 2 bedroom…read more2 bathroom apartment), and I feel it's important to warn the community by sharing my experience. First, they (Devon Yager and his colleague) arrived late and in a 10ft uhaul, telling me their truck broke down, that they'll have to make several trips, but told me not to worry because they would give me a discount, knowing the extra trips would take extra time. I absolutely understood and was very patient. However, what should have taken only about 3 hours, took almost 7. They were supposed to arrive at 5, and be gone by 8. They were in my home until after midnight. The apartments were only half mile apart and it was only a 10ft truck, yet they were gone at least an hour every time they went back for more. They broke several items, and lost vital parts to other items, leaving me to have to replace said items. They disassembled several pieces of furniture for the move. I had to put several pieces back together on my own. When they put my bed back together, it was incredibly wobbly and clearly unstable. When I asked them to fix it, they said it's fine (I am a woman by myself, maybe they would have been more reasonable if a man had asked). When I asked again, they said they don't have the right bit for it. When I insisted again, because it was never wobbly before they took it apart, Devon hugged and puffed and loudly said nasty things about me in the backroom thinking I couldn't hear him, but eventually got it back to where it once was (I guess they finally found the right drill bit?) The colleague complained many times about my dog being there, my dog sitter was only scheduled until 9pm, stayed until 1030pm, but by that time, they still had not brought over his kennel, though I asked several times already. I had to ask Devon 4 separate times if they'd gotten the boxes out of all the closets, and was told yes by Devon Yager every time, yet I never saw boxes come off the truck. Finally, at 11pm he goes back to check and finally finds them and spends another hour unloading boxes. Taking the time to complain about how late it was and how far of a drive they have to get back home. They did not take any care as to where they put the boxes and left absolutely no walkway or path to get through. They just made stacks upon stacks wherever they stood, creating a major obstruction for myself and my animals in the middle of the night, not even considering how massive a safety hazard they created had something happened before I got a chance to move them (which, of course, I had to do at 1am). As they were leaving, well past midnight, after being there almost 7 hours, Devon Yager quoted a price to me and told me he was doing me a favor by not charging the extra hours. When I brought up the above mentioned issues and asked about the discount he promised, he became confrontational (mind you, I'm a woman alone with these 2 men I do not know), when I told him I'd settle it with management in the morning when it's not the middle of the night, he told me he is the manager and began to verbally assault me as I stood alone in my new apartment, and called me a piece of sh!t as he stormed out so loudly that my new neighbors came to check on me at almost 1am on the first day I lived here. When I went to my old apartment today, I found many things that weren't brought over and even quite a bit of their trash that they left behind for me to clean up. This company is phenomenally unprofessional. They made me feel incredibly unsafe in my own home. I hope that everyone reading this takes this as a warning as to not allow this company to treat you the way they treated me.

Make sure whoever is home to greet them is well aware of the phone quote, because they will take advantage and lie. They also pretend to take customer complaints seriously, but do nothing. They're recording the calls and know exactly what's happening, but string the customer along, waiting for them to lose steam because life is busy and no one has time to chase down dishonest cheats forever.
