Here are some of the things I like about Dr. Schmidt's office: +All the staff, including Dr. Schmidts, are very friendly. +It is expensive (as it is an orthodontic treatment), but they are pretty transparent about the fees. +They give you a discount if you pay in full (instead of installment). I got a 5% discount for paying cash upfront. As it costs several thousand dollars, 5% actually means something. +Dr. Schmidt's office is across the street/parking lot from my son's dentist, Dr. Piper, which is pretty convenient. When my son has a cleaning appointment at Dr. Piper's office, he goes to Dr. Schmidt's office to take off the wires first. After cleaning at Dr. Piper's office, he goes back to Dr. Schmidt's office to have the wires put back in! I'm pretty happy with all the services they have provided. They all seem to want to be sure you have the best experience you can. The quality of the work is without peer, which is not surprising given the staff. I have had cleanings, fillings redone, orthodontia consults, and other work. I never felt judged, shamed, or anything other than than capable. I got wonderful tips on how to improve! Any question I had about procedures, terminology, dentistry, billing, or how to improve care at home was met with kindness, joy to share, and encouragement. From there we went about getting me fitted for the usual night-time retainers. Even through the covid pandemic closures and safety protocols, my experience with Dr. Damon has been nothing short of 100% positive. They also appreciate seeing improvements with their teeth and bite as the months pass. As a parent, I especially appreciated that Dr Veltkamp never pressured us to get started as we saved money to pay for braces. Each time we went in, he would simply say 'whenever you're ready'. Going in for my braces every 6 weeks has been fine until the last visit. They needed to put the…read morebottom row of brackets on. Put the bite block in my mouth and it immediately starts burning increasingly. I try to tough it out but two minutes later she's putting blue stuff on each tooth and I'm telling her I can't stand it anymore, it burns. She says "we just sanitize them and rinse them with water" totally disregarding that my mouth is burning, badly. I tell her to TAKE IT OUT. "But we'll have to start all over again." This lady clearly doesn't care that someone left something chemical on this bite block and it's HURTING me. I start to get up at that point and finally she's like "okay okay, one minute" and takes each tool out of my mouth with no haste. I get up and tell her again that it's burning down my throat now, and I need water. She shows me the sink and I proceed to cough and rinse. To top it off, this gal talks to me like I'm a 6 year old. It's condescending. When they start again the next bite block is fine. Someone screwed up and left something on the first one. Dr. Veltkamp specifically is professional and works quickly.
