I needed a cab from the Sub Base in Groton to my hotel in Mystic on very short notice Monday due to an "incident" on base that had my car in a secured area. I called Yellow Cab and they had a cab at the main gate in 5 minutes. The driver, Mike, was great, getting me to Mystic in time for the meetings I had scheduled. He also kept his cab clean and fresh smelling, which is always a plus. Knowing I'd need to get back to Groton after the meetings he gave me his cell number and stayed in the Mystic area. I know he was looking to get the fare, but I can't picture any of the cabbies I've ever had in NYC or Philly doing that. Hopefully I won't need a cab again in Groton, but if I did I'd call Yellow Cab and ask for Mike. read more

A bunch of screw-ups. The driver brought me to my destination, but drove away with my luggage. He was directed to bring the luggage to me next day, but refused to leave it at the door; for a second time, he drove away with the luggage. I was compelled to go to the dispatch center to get my belongings, to complete the aggravation. Stay away from these numbskulls. The evening driver (african -american male) is rude and clearly displays signs of mental illness. Even one of the dispatchers agreed when I complained about him on the phone. Showed up an hour late and then doubled parked on the grass, He then yelled--- put a mask on before you get into my cab. I said I do not have one, and then he reached into a dirty bag filled with all types of debris and pulled a mask out. I asked the driver if that mask was clean-- and his answer was "Find another cab" -- He then sped off and left me on a dark road in the middle of the night. read more

I called this cab company after my daughter's Uber cancelled on her. She needed to catch a train and this company jumped into action, picked her up and got her to the train in time, despite the last minute notice. She also said the driver was really nice. I would definitely use this company again. read more

Called for a cab near Foxwoods and was told it would be there in 30 minutes. When we checked 45 minutes later we were told it was another 30 minutes. They never showed up. Ended up taking an Uber almost an hour later, after waiting outside the entire time for the promised cab. The taxi phone operator was also horribly rude, and not apologetic at all for what seems like an obviously bad experience. Would recommend avoiding this company at all costs. Choose another company or Uber when you are around this area. read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! Got a quote for $123 from Mohegan Resort to Bradley Airport. The cab driver told me there would be "a small upcharge" if I use credit card. I get to the airport and he scans my credit card for $161. How did it go from $123 to $161 I asked him. Said he accidentally quoted me the wrong price originally, and that small up-charge he mentioned was actually 15% of the total!! I called the company immediately after getting out of the cab not saying who I was, asking for the price and was again quoted $123, so then I asked why I was charged $161 for the cab ride I just took. They VERY rudely apologized and said he charged me incorrectly by mistake...seriously????? This wasn't a mistake!! Keith WAS very rude, no sincerity in his voice whatsoever. He assured me they would charge me the correct price and refund my card back....1 week later BOTH charges posted...NO credit was issued. Called Keith EXTREMELY upset and he said he would CMB...I'm still waiting for that call back...still no credit issued.... I've already contacted the Better Business Bureau and my bank to dispute. Unreliable. For an emergency where time is not an issue, I'm sure this service would suffice. I was lucky as I asked enough questions or I would have missed my train. I called expecting a wait of up to an hour for pick up. They took down my address and I was told that they would dispatch a car to me. When I asked if they could be there in 15 minutes, I was put on hold and then told they couldn't guarantee a pickup in 15 minutes. I still think that's reasonable. But when I asked when they could guarantee a pickup, i was put on hold again and then told they would not commit to less than an hour. I'm rating this business based on the line of questioning. Had I stopped questioning at the beginning, I would have missed my train. Again, if time is not an issue, I'm sure this service would work, but I don't believe you should rely on them if you need to be on time. read more

If there was something less than one star I would use it. I had called for a cab and was told that 1) It was going to be 45min to an hour wait and 2) That they wouldn't do a flat fee for actually what would have turned out to their advantage after I did the math. The dispatcher actually was giving me a rude tone and acting like I was asking for too much. I told the lady working that I would call back in a few to confirm the ride because I wanted to check with the other passenger that was okay before asking for the service and then having to cancel. I called back within five minutes and she then tells me instead of 45mins to and hour wait til they could arrive, it was now going to be two hours. I didn't want to wait that long but I just wanted to confirm a ride by that point so I said I was willing to wait. I called every 30-45 mins to check in and make sure they still were coming which they said they were. Now, a little after the 2 hour mark, I assumed they were at least in route to me at that point so I call to get an ETA. When I call, I'm told that they would not be able to come. Obviously I was angry waiting and even checking in for over two hours. I confirmed the original ride between 10:15pm and 10:30pm and now its closer to 1am and told that they can not come. I ask what they meant and were they planning on even letting me know. She kept being rude and then lying on top of it. First there were no drivers, then they were down for the night and wouldn't be available until after 5am (yet she was still there answering calls) then she said the car broke down. So she kept changing excuses and didn't have anything to say when I asked her if she planned on telling me or what until I called. So now ive waited hours for this ride that cancelled and didn't even have the decency to let me know asap so I could figure something out. Then at 130am it was too late for anyone else to come and or even answer the phone, couldn't even get an uber. I ended up outside all night in the cold with a phone battery of 7% and no way home once my battery died. Also, because of all this, I ended up getting in trouble at work because I couldn't get home and no phone to notify my boss. So thank you so much yellow cab, for being super professional along with curtious and considerate, because yes I wanted to spend all night scared and cold outside because you confirmed a ride and couldn't keep your end up or even let me know you weren't planning on coming until I called again after you were already suppose to be there. This cab company is by far the worse. If it were at all possible, i wouldn't give any stars. They are SO NOT reliable. I called at 6:55pm today and at that time I was told, it would be a 30-40 min wait. 45 minutes later I called them again, and the nonchalantly said that it would be another 30 minutes or so. Not even an apology for the inconvenience of waiting, and I'm handicapped as well. I made other arrangements at that point. They called back at 8:25pm, asking did I call for a car service! Would love to give zero stars if I could. I wake up and realize I am going to be late to work if I walk to the train station. My fault completely. Decide to call Yellow Cab as I don't have any cash on me and they take credit. I call and order the cab. It is 6:07 am and the train leaves at 630. I am definitely cutting it close. I forget to ask how long in my haste. After 10 minutes, the cab is not there so call back and a woman says it will be another 10 minutes. Impossible for me to make the train at this point, I cancel the cab. I'm annoyed but it was my fault. Next train is at 830am. I call at 755am about a cab because so icy to walk at this point (I tried and nearly fell). Woman again, she takes my address and when she reads back a completely different street name I correct her and spell it out for her. Her response? " You don't need to catch an attitude!" What?! I want you to pick me up, not get lost! I explain I have no attitude I just want to make sure she gets the right address... my train is at 832am. Again, I probably am cutting it close and should have called earlier but when I ask and she tells me 15 minutes I feel okay about this. I only live 8 minute drive from the station. 20 minutes, no cab. I call back and get a guy. He knows who I am immediately and says I hoped he would be there by now, ummmm me too!! How much longer, as now the train is leaving in about 10 minutes and the cab is already 10 mins late fr the quote time. Just a few more minutes, is his reply. I ask what he means by that, and he goes like 15 minutes. What?!!!?!! Supposedly they are under staffed today. Fine, why wouldn't you tell me that when I ordered the cab?! Why quote me 15 minutes knowing you mean 45?! As I say that I will have to cancel the cab, the guy is just mumbling things under his breath. If he thinks he is upset, he should talk to my boss who I have to explain that I am not 3.5 hours late to!! So most of this is my fault because I should have called well in advance and woken up on time. I prob should have realized that they were going to be late the second time I called but I tend not to assume that I will be given bad business for my money. Silly me.But for me, the big issue is why lie to a customer?! If it is an hour, tell me that! Second, every business gets busy but there is no need to get rude with me. I'm attempting to give you money why would you make an already stressful situation worse by being completely rude. I'm the one late for work and I'm not yelling or anything. I will never call again. Never have I or anyone I know of had such consistently horrible experiences so many times. I could have lost my job for the number of times they were 15 minutes or more late! And then they proceeded to tell me it was my fault because the number they called me at earlier (which I was using to talk to them at the time) did not work and the cabbie had waited (I waited outside for 15 minutes) and then left from the wrong direction I had told them to go. I was then told it would be another 45 minutes before another cab could come get me. Having worked in customer service I gave them the benefit of the doubt the first few times but as my experiences got worse I will never, ever use them again and will encourage other people to do the same. read more

I called the Yellow Cab for a ride from New London to Montville. Once I got to my house the meter read as $28 so I handed the guy a $100 bill. He said it was the company policy to not carry more than $50 in change. So then we had to drive down the road to Mcdonald's to get change. The meter was still running while waiting for the person to make my food and give the change back. Mcdonald's was the closest place to get change at midnight. By the time I got back to my house the meter read as $40. I told the cab why the meter was still running since it was not my fault he never had change. He proceeded with the meter stays on during any ride to anywhere no matter the circumstance. At this time I was fed up with the cab driver (His name was Young (Black guy)) so I just gave him $40 with no tip. Not only was the driver untrustworthy but he definitely either was tired or under the influence cause he kept swerving while driving and pulling to the right on a straight road.
