I was really in need of a taxi for a family member and called after finding this company online. No one answered the phone so I hung up. This company doesn't even bother picking up the phone most of the time but recently i did get a call back after not getting an answer like 4 times. Also, we didn't even get a ride this last time because supposedly someone waited for us 10 mins and left. Well i know that is bs because no cab company waits for that long and no even beeping or calling our number either. The guy who answered the phone was rude about this matter for no reason at all. Also, a while back this company never picked us up from our Motel and that was a horrible experience. I scheduled for the medical taxi to pick my mother up a week in advance. The taxt arrived 40 minutes late. When I called the company the guy on the phone was extremely rude. I will never use them again. I have requested through Veyo to use a different company. Very disapointing. Some of these appointments they make us late for or completely miss are so urgent and have waited sometimes months for the appointment and we miss them due to Harry's late arrivals and no-shows. __________PREVIOUS REVIEW_________ My mother uses this company for her doctor appointments through Logisticare. Harry's is the absolute WORST!! DO NOT CALL THIS CAB COMPANY. They constantly show up late if at all. The cars are disgusting. If you call and speak with the dispatcher because the cab is a no show be prepared for lame excuses and outright lying. On top of that the man I spoke with most recently was a complete *ss hat. The worst type of jerk. No accountability. Now I know this doesn't go for every single driver. Some are decent hard working people. But the majority should find work in a different field of work. Taxi cut me off on right hand turn to North Frontage road, almost hitting my front end. Proceeded down N. Frontage rd. going 90 MPH, So fast he had to use both lanes to make that very slight bend, Merged onto highway going 90-100 MPH ending at Walmart in Waterford. I tried to keep up with this guy but I could only keep him in eye sight. Once at Wal-Mart, I obtained the plate number. Watch out for these RED N WHITE taxi`s in New London community. They do not follow traffic laws and have very little regard for the community in which they serve. I called this morning at 1030am to report taxi licence plate t616t to RYAN. Who said he would "pass it along to a manager on Monday." I asked what course of action is this going to follow? He said well I am not going to fire a driver because of one incident. We took Harry's Taxi from the Mohegan Sun to the Hyatt Place, less than 1.5 miles away, on Saturday, 4/6/13. It was one of the worst taxi rides I've ever been on. The hotel had told us the taxis only charge $9 from the casino to the hotel. As we pulled out of the casino, the driver told us the charge would be $15, though he did not turn on the meter. When we questioned him, we were told that the fare was $15 as we were further from the hotel than the other side of the casino, even though he admitted there was not a taxi stand at the other side of the casino. He also told us it was more because there was a light at which he might have to stop. As if the price was not bad enough, the ride was one of the most unsafe and dangerous rides I've ever taken, and I've traveled the world. He took a very sharp curve at approximately 50 mph and stopped at a blinking red light (presumably the one that was costing us more money) in the middle of the intersection, even though there were clearly cars coming at us from the left and right. It felt as if we were being punished for questioning the cost of the fare. I asked for a receipt so I could contact the company and complain. The driver did provide me with a receipt, but his initials are indecipherable so not at all helpful to me. I will definitely not take Harry's Taxi again, either from the casino or from anywhere else. read more

I ordered a cab for an early-morning train departure; not only was the cab 20 minutes late but every time I called they said 'Oh, he'll be right there.' Not only did I nearly miss my train but then the company sent a second cab to my home; he drove down my driveway, set my dog off barking and woke up my entire family. The cab driver would not get out of the cab to help my aunt put her walker in the trunk I would never use this cab service again Yellow Cab came instead and was extremely nice and extremely helpful. Today I met a very special man. His name is Larry. So sweet and curious. A true gentleman.

Last Saturday night a crew member and I got off of the last ferry in New London and had to get to Stonington. As soon as we came around the building, there was Kim, right at the corner with a smile on her face. She made our 20 minute ride fantastic. Great personality with great customer service. The taxi it's self was not ideal, it being an older vehicle but it was made up by her attention to we the customer. Next time I am in New London and need a taxi. Harry's will be who I call and Kim is who I will ask for. read more

Scummy company and drivers. They treat residential streets with kids all over at 7am like a speedway. They are easily traveling at 50 in a 25 zone and barely slow down for stop signs. They also like to lay on the horn at 3:30am to do pick ups constantly. This company needs to go out of business yesterday. I have had it, I'll be filing a formal complaint with the Mayor's and police department. My neighbors and family shouldn't be as aggravated and concerned for their kids safety as they are. There's nothing but kids, senior citizens, and handicapped people on my street, we've had it with your "employees," I'm guessing they were inmates yesterday. read more

Avoid Harry's Cab. Called for a pick up from Foxwoods and was told 30 minutes. Called back an hour later and was told 5 minutes. Called at 30 min after that and was told the driver was there but went in the wrong entrance. TWO HOURS after the original call and driver never showed. Call Yellow Cab instead - WAY more reliable. A long wait is understandable but don't bullshit the customer. If its going to be an hour, say its going to be an hour. Was told 10-15 minutes after 25 minutes I called, they asked me to hold and stated they called the driver he would be there in 2-3 minutes, I waited another 15. Excessive wait time. My wife and I used Harry's twice this past weekend while visiting New London for a wedding. They arrived promptly both times when called, first in the evening at the Coastal Cottage Inn (Marcus and Pam are great if you're looking for a Bed and Breakfast), and then late night at the Holiday Inn downtown. If I could give ZERO stars I would. We booked with Harry's at 4:53pm for a ride from Hertz Groton to the New London Amtrak station to catch the 5:57pm train. The said they'd be there in 10 minutes. After waiting 13 minutes we called again and were told the driver would be there any minute. At 5:35pm we called a 3rd time and and the said he would be there at any moment. We called Port City Taxi and they said they'd arrive in 10 minutes. Port was on time and rushed to get us to the train station but it was not feasible to make it on time. Fortunately, the train was running a few minutes late so we got lucky. As far as we know Harry's never did show up. I give them an F- grade. read more

I needed to be picked up at Mohegan Sun going to the New London train station. I used this taxi to go up to Mohegan when I arrived, so I thought no problem When I called, which no one answered right away, several rings later, the person I spoke to wanted to know where in Mohegan Sun I was located. I didn't understand the question, and was trying to get clarification, when the guy said You're taking too long with this, call somebody else, and hung up on me. I tried calling back, but they wouldn't answer my call. How unprofessional and rude. Lucky I got the hotel to get me another car. Lousy customer service and unprofessional conduct!! read more

If I could give less then one star I would! This is one of the worst cab/taxi companies I have ever seen. I called needing a ride and was told 20 minutes. Not a problem I waited the time came and went 20 minutes after original arrival time I call them. I'm told he's just down the road a few minutes more he's dropping someone off. Another 25 minutes pass and still no cab in sight a 3rd call and once again I'm told they'll be here soon. It's now a full hour after I made the first call. This is not the first time Harrys has pulled this but this is the last time! The service is so bad I made a yelp account just so I could post this review. I have never felt compelled to write a review for a company, but after my experience with Harry's Taxi, I couldn't let it slide. This was simply the WORST taxi company I have ever had the displeasure of using. I was told my taxi would arrive at 3:35 for a 4:00 ferry. After waiting for over 20 minutes, I called back, and was told it would arrive in a few minutes. After MISSING my ferry because of their incompetence, I had to take the 4:30 ferry. The taxi didn't arrive until 4:15, FORTY MINUTES after they said they would be there! This is not the first time I have used them, either. Other times, they would arrive late as well, sometimes so late that I nearly missed where I had to be. This one experience, however, was so terrible that I felt the need to make an account on here just to write this review. I will NEVER use Harry's Taxi again, and I advise that anybody traveling in the New London area seeks a different company. read more

I am one of those people who likes to give someone the benefit of the doubt. In the case of Harry's Taxi, this trust was betrayed. Today I ordered a taxi 30 minutes ahead, and I planned the pick-up time so that even if the taxi was 5 minutes late I would still be OK. I called 3 minutes after the taxi was supposed to pick me up, and the dispatcher said "he is on the way." After 10 more minutes, the taxi eventually showed up, but I had already missed my train and the rest of my day was ruined. I agree with the other reviewers here: the drivers are nice, but they need to be honest about telling customers realistic pick-up time. No matter how much planning you do/how much buffer you give yourself, this company is not one you can trust. I will never use this company again. read more

I actually just returned home from downtown new london on Harry's taxi and this is by far the worst taxi in New London. Two women actually stole our cab right in front of myself and my wife, and the cab driver, who watched this happen, said absolutely nothing. I even threw my coke bottle in frustration and she would barely look at us. Not only that, but when we had to call the taxi back after more than half an hour the same exact lady returned and actually refused us service. We eventually had to flag another taxi down in order to get home. This is by far the worst taxi experience we have had in New London and I will NEVER use Harry's taxi again. Poor service, dirty cabs, unprofessional drivers, and just unbelievably awful sense of integrity. I never want to see these people again. read more

The whole experience was overall a bad one, not only was the dispatcher short and unfriendly on the phone, he said 5-10 minutes and it took almost twice as long. When I approached the taxi the driver also was rude urging me to "hurry up, get in the car". I sat down and he had already started the meter, I understand $3 for the first 1/8th mile but why should the second the car moves forward it already be at $3.30. I felt extremely unsafe in the car, as he took left turns to sharply, accelerated to red lights, and didn't seem to be paying that much attention to his driving. I don't know the area that well but it seemed to me that he took an out of the way route to get there, but maybe that was the only way he knew so that didn't make me too mad. Finally, after stopping he let the meter run so the charge for time continued as he took his time counting out my change in nickles, (I don't need seven nickle just give me 3 quarters) costing me even more money. Overall it was a lousy experience and I will find a new company to use. read more
