If you want poor service, drivers that don't speak English or know their way around the city, these ARE you guys, but that is only if they will bother to pick you up, because they might if they feel like it, but who really knows?!?! Before the era of Lyft and Uber and the like, I took them because what was my choice? But thank goodness you have a choice today right? Be warned, they have two Yelp pages, and unfortunately I went to the one that had three reviews that were all positive at "Yellow and Black Cab" (I suspect the reviews are not legitimate)! Here was my email to them about my complaint about not being picked up a few weeks ago even though I received confirmation from them: Your taxi never came to get me yesterday! I not only have an email confirmation of my reservation, but I even called you on July # to confirm my reservation, and you told me you had me in your system and you even read my address and pick-up time to me! I had to get to Oakland Airport by 5:30am. I have in my call history trying to frantically get through to you at 4:59am, 5:02am, 5:04am, 5:07am, and 5:12am but it all went to voicemail. I couldn't wait anymore, and since you left me in a bind since no one else could drive me at the last second in the early morning I had to drive my own car, which is what I wanted to avoid, and now I'm going to be stuck with a bill for $132 since I had to park at airport an entire week. I don't know what happened or what your excuse could be, but I'm requesting you pay for my parking bill since you did not honor your part of the agreement in picking me up. I tend to give businesses second chances, so I hope you will do the honorable thing and pay my parking bill; otherwise, I will have to report your business. Needless to say, this company has absolutely no integrity and is not honorable since they didn't even apologize or respond! This company needs to be put out of business. Disreputable company. I ordered a cab the night before and it never showed up. I called the company the next morning when the cab didn't come and there was no answer. It's clear why they blew me off: When ordering the cab the night before, I was asked the destination: I wanted them to take me from South Berkeley to the Rockridge Bart station, a drive of about 3-4 miles. Obviously, the owner considered it too short a trip to make it worth their while. But then, why didn't he just say so? Desperately concerned I'd miss my BART train that was to take me to SFO, I called "Friendly A-1 Yellow Cab Co" (510-6555-5555) and they sent someone out immediately and saved the day for me. read more

If I could give less than 1 star, I would. After making a reservation on a Friday night, for a Saturday morning pickup at 6:30am I was assured that the can would arrive in time. Sadly, that was not the case. I called twice Saturday morning and clearly woke someone up both times. The cab finally arrived 20minutes after my scheduled pickup time!! And he parked at the bottom of my hill and honked his horn. then proceeded to sit in his cab while i loaded my luggage in. Are you kidding me?!? This caused me to miss my BART train to the airport, take one that got me there 20minutes later. I will NEVER use this company again and will urge my friends in Oakland and Piedmont to do the same. read more

I absolutely love this taxi service! Ask for Raj. He is our go-to driver for nights out to San Francisco. He always arrives on time with as little as 20 minutes notice and will book other taxis for you if you have a big group. Sometimes he even picks us up in a town car and charges the same price as a regular taxi! My best experience with Raj was New Year's Eve. Pretty much every taxi company was booked and charging extra, however Raj only charged us $50 from Hayward all the way to the Claremont Hotel in Berkeley. He also made sure he was available to pick us up after the NYE party at the exact time we requested. He also went out of his way to reserve several taxis four our friends coming from various locations in the East Bay. Robby also works for Yellow Taxi Service and he is a good time! He is super funny and puts up with all of us after a night on the town. I would give this taxi service 10 stars if I could!! read more

This taxi service was terrible. Never bothered to show up, and never bothered to tell us they WEREN'T going to show up. We called them first to take us to a restaurant in Oakland, and they were fine...on time and everything. Then, an hour and a half later, we called them to take us back home to Berkeley. They said they'd be there in 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, they still hadn't arrived so we called them back, they said they would be there shortly. After 45 minutes, they still hadn't shown up, so we gave up and called the Alameda City Cab Co (which showed up very quickly). I was very frustrated that after 2 phone calls, 2 promises of immediate service, and 45 minutes of waiting outside on a very cold night, the Yellow Taxi Service never even bothered to show up. They had my phone number, I called twice, but they couldn't bother to tell us the truth (that they weren't coming). VERY LAME. read more

Driver was friendly and we had a small conversation up to the 19th street Bart station. For an Oakland Taxi these guys are highly recommended. Did I mention they had late model hybrid SUVs? I took this taxi service with my friends a few days ago and i was very pleased with how accommodating this company is. I was with a large group and they did not make you feel like an inconvenience for having a large group. They kept their word and showed up with two taxi's and right on time. I rarely use taxi services, but when I do I know EXACTLY who to call! Yellow Taxi Service is top-notch and has always been reliable. Ask for Raj. He has driven my friends and I multiple times to San Francisco and accommodates large parties by bringing additional drivers if necessary. After our night out in SF, we never have to worry about waving down a taxi back to the East Bay as he is there to pick us up! When Raj says he'll be there, he will BE there! His word is good!!! Called at 11:30 for a taxi at 1:15 to take me to the airport. At 1:25 they hadn't showed so I called and she said they were STILL TRYING TO LOCATE A DRIVER TO COME GET ME. I rushed to my car to drive myself, barely made it onto the plane dripping sweat because I was literally sprinting, and my bag didn't make it. Called once - was told a cab would be out in "15 minutes" Called half an hour later - "would be 2 minutes" After about 40 minutes had passed - they quit picking up. I wish I could give zero stars. I had a VERY important doctors appointment to get to. I called for a cab 30 minutes before my appointment, and it takes 10 minutes to drive there. I thought 20 minutes would be enough time for the cab to get to my apartment at 10:30am on a Wednesday. Well, it never showed up.
