Legends was the third comic book store we hit in Victoria, the first two were ok but the service and selection at legends was vastly superior. My older son found some amazing old westerns (his fav) and the price was just right, $2-$3 each. We walked away with a fresh stack of new books and both my boys received a little gift on the way out the door. Made their day and their whole trip! 10/10, would recommend and we will be stopping in here anytime we come to Victoria to grab some more awesome books at an awesome price!

I was visiting Victoria with my family on the weekend (for my birthday, no less). While in Legends, I found a book I was interested in. There was however, no price on the book. I took it to the counter and asked the gentleman (I'm assuming the owner) the price. He told me it was $25.19. Since I was on a trip with my family I figured I had better be fiscally responsible seeing as how I was already purchasing other books and we had more places to visit (not to mention I had my daughter with me and thought it would be a good example to set). I had a short but friendly conversation with the owner about my town and I left thinking that it was such a great experience. As we drove further up Island, I began to regret my decision. When we arrived back home, I called a friend of mine in Victoria and asked if she'd be willing to pick the book up for me. She was more than happy to oblige. She was there first thing this morning and picked up the book explaining it was for me, the guy who was visiting from out of town. He charged her $51.00, saying that he had given me the American price but I had turned it down. First of all, not once did he mention to me that it was the American price, nor that he was giving me a deal that would expire if I declined purchase. Had that been the case, I would have snapped it up, thinking I would be saving some money if I were to find it elsewhere. Secondly, since when is the Canadian price 100% more than the American price?! I've looked it up online. He obviously took advantage of the situation (and my friend) and made himself a nice profit. Basically, he punished me for not buying it right away. Great customer service. It's a shame because I thought it was a great little shop with a good selection. I would have made it my first stop on my next visit to Victoria but that's not going to happen. I thought the owner was a nice guy but it turns out he's just a greedy SOB. I guess the lesson for my daughter is, don't trust anybody, even if they seem affable. The worst part of this situation is that it's going to be very difficult for me to enjoy the book as this experience will stick with me every time I see it. So happy birthday to me and a big F**K YOU to Legends.

The first time I came to Victoria, there were three comic shops in this stretch, and I remakes that if you put them together you still wouldn't get a good one. Now there's two, and each is a good shop for its own kind.

Turns out there are three comic shops on the same block that have all been around since the 90's. Today I learned about Batman Red Death. Comic book 52 seems to revolve around a multi universe. I will looking into this and see what else I can learn about it. "The game is a foot" as Sherlock Holmes would say. More adventures to come on Canada Day.

The flatbread was nice and crispy with a good flavor for something pre-made and just needed to be heated. But the highlight of my visit was the Autumn Heat tea. The "Heat" refers to the spice level (one of the ingredients is Hot Honey), you can choose for it to be served hot or cold. I chose to have it served hot. I really enjoy spicy food and drinks. This tea was very spicy! If you enjoy spicy foods you should give this one a try. Otherwise, I recommend you pass on this one! As normal, the staff are very friendly, knowledgeable about what they sell, and polite. Always a pleasure to shop at The Book Rack.

The bookstore had a dining area, games to stay and play, a discount section, mini events area, just so much not including the books and it was so cute! One of the employees asked if there was anything I was looking for and since he was working where Star Trek would have been, I told him. They had none on the floor. He directed me to the man behind the counter, where they keep the pricier comics. Yikes! But they weren't crazy pricey. I ended up with two. The two men in the back reminded me of the two owners of a bookstore I frequented in the States, both were kind and friendly. The man running the register up front was just as sweet and kind. I didn't exactly have the best experiences in comic stores back in the states, and I was a bit daunted by this place. But everything was so different from my past experiences. I loved it!

I went through about 12 boxes and 3 stacks of golden and silver age books and ended up buying 12 comics. Prices were fair, but the best part is their comic grading is spot on! Two out of the last three years I either couldn't make it very early or couldn't make it at all for Free Comic Book Day. The Staff suggested I send a Facebook message listing the titles I really wanted and they would try and set aside copies, and they did both years. I traded in a short box of comics for store credit. Realized of course that they couldn't give me retail value before doing it, but still got more than I was expecting. The amount of titles they stock from large, small and medium publishers alike is impressive. They have fulfilled several special orders I've requested. The Game Room for RPG, card games, etc. is spacious and inviting. Feel pretty fortunate to have this store in my area.

They have so much more than just comic books. They have lots of board games. There's a huge collection of posters and figurines. The comic books are separated in sections by genre. There are also many types of playing cards, pins and collectibles as well. One of the unique items at this store was they had the scripts of many popular movies and TV shoes. I saw the script of pilot episode of GOT, TBBT, Friends and among movies there was Batman, Harry Porter, LOTR, Hunger Games, Twin Peaks and hundreds of more of them. I found a Marvel poster that I liked a lot. It was reasonably priced for $15. Checkout process was quick with assistance from very friendly staff. If you are comic fan, this is an absolutely must visit place for anyone visiting the Pike Place market.
