Tucked away in Pike Place Market, the store is packed from floor to ceiling with comics, graphic novels, action figures, collectibles, and all kinds of memorabilia. I found myself spending much more time there than I expected just looking through everything. What I liked most was the variety. The shop has a great mix of new releases, classic comics, and collectibles, toys, movie scripts, and manga that make it easy to lose track of time while exploring. This comic book store is located on the 4th floor of Pike Place market. It is a huge store. Really popular among the visitors. I went there multiple times and it was so packed. They have so much more than just comic books. They have lots of board games. There's a huge collection of posters and figurines. The comic books are separated in sections by genre. There are also many types of playing cards, pins and collectibles as well. One of the unique items at this store was they had the scripts of many popular movies and TV shoes. I saw the script of pilot episode of GOT, TBBT, Friends and among movies there was Batman, Harry Porter, LOTR, Hunger Games, Twin Peaks and hundreds of more of them. I found a Marvel poster that I liked a lot. It was reasonably priced for $15. Checkout process was quick with assistance from very friendly staff. If you are comic fan, this is an absolutely must visit place for anyone visiting the Pike Place market. read more

Golden Age Collectables is known to be the World's Oldest Comic Shop and sits on the 4th floor of Pike's Place! This shop is moderately sized and carries a sizeable amounts of hardcovers and trade paperbacks; and thankfully also carry up-to-date ongoings!! They stock the major DC/MARVEL comics + indies as well as other pop culture items like small trinkets, magnets, keychains, movie scripts, posters, and merch for their shop. Came here while making an afternoon of Pike Place with my friend and wow it's a nerds dream in here. They have all sorts of collectibles, you name it, and if it's popular, it's probably here. Comics/manga, collectable buttons, stickers, magnets, Figures, Funko's, mugs, posters of movies, posters of anime, wall scrolls and tons more crammed into this little shop. What I thought was cool was the Cardboard stand ups of Star Wars characters just outside the shop. That is something I don't see often and was kind hoping someone would buy one so that I can ask them how they planned to carry it out without it being damaged. That all said there are snags about Golden Age Collectables. A collectable shop to me is usually in sort of a lower traffic area, or a mall at most. Golden Age here is in a very high traffic area, It's Pike Place after all - a tourist destination, and the store is not particularly big, neither are the aisles. It was hard to stop and look at look at anything without being in someone's way. So, the browsing experience was not great here. My friend got major icks when someone was trying to pass her in a crowded aisle... and was let's just say was a bit inappropriate about it. As a result, she wanted to wait outside for the remainder of the visit. I was not far behind due to how cramped it is. I'd say if you have in mind something you want here, check it out, but if you don't do well in tight spaces and lots of people, exercise discretion. read more

This is a quintessential Seattle pit stop. Even if you're not into comics or collecting, this is a great place to visit. I've been coming here since the early 80's and there is a specific comic book smell that brings back feelings of being a kid. I'm not a comic collector but loved the feel of picking up a $2 comic at the time, flipping through the pages, and wanting to take home a little piece of paper that I could read for hours. Comics hit my dopamine senses in a way that screen time reels and tik tok doesn't. I have to concentrate and really be super invested in the characters backstories and story arc. I'm a transformers fan and used to enjoy seeing the various collaborations. The place can be cramped and it's often packed. If you know what you want I would suggest going during off market hours. The coin shop on that same floor is worth checking out and there are lots of cool odds and ends to discover. A fun place to get lost. read more

My wife and I visited this shop and were excited to see the new Mega Evolution ETBs, including Mega Lucario and Gardevoir. Since we're traveling and hadn't had a chance to pick them up back home, this felt like a great find. I was going to purchase one ETB on my own, and my wife was going to do the same , two separate transactions, two separate collectors. But the employee stopped us, saying there was a "one per party" policy. I've collected cards at shops around the world, and I've never heard of such a rule. Denying two legitimate collectors from making individual purchases simply because we knew each other doesn't make any sense. What made the experience worse was the rude and dismissive way it was handled. When I questioned the policy, the explanation was inconsistent, as if even the staff weren't clear on their own rules. Most other shops sell Lucario and Gardevoir together as a set since the contents are different, so being told we couldn't each buy one was frustrating and unnecessary. The combination of poor customer service and a nonsensical "one per party" restriction left a really negative impression. For us, it was enough to decide we won't be returning. read more

Golden Age Collectables is more than a comic book store - they have games, toys, posters, and so much more. Anyone who loves Marvel or DC is going to love the selection here. It is a very packed store - narrow aisles with very full shelves, so take the time to really explore but know on a busy day at the Market this store will be packed. Which is what I experienced when I visited. There were so many people it was very hard to navigate but fellow customers were for the most part were polite and patient as we tried getting through. Now, not sure if this particular day the staff was short handed but finding help proved challenging and when we did I almost regretted that we did. My cousin asked him a question about a game that was clearly out of arm's reach for any of us and the gentleman gave a one word response and then walked off. My cousin was unfazed as she needed to double check if her son had the game, but I was a bit surprised. Then when she needed to get the game we searched for help and found the same gentleman who acted like Sisyphus rolling his boulder as he grabbed the game with a very audible sigh, wordlessly handed it to my cousin, and walked off. It was a bit disarming. I left the store while my cousin checked-out because I didn't feel overtly welcomed. read more

This very unique store is a bit hard to describe. "Collectables," which is part of the name of the business, is probably a good description. Yes, they've got comic books but they've got buttons and movie scripts and posters and knickknacks and tchotchkes and figurines and stickers and games and signs and just about every other "collectible" under the sun. The goods here are not really up my alley but I can see someone really digging what they have. You could spend a lot of time and probably a lot of money, if you are interested in what they have. Im living my best #dadlife one collectables shop and hobby shop at a time. Make no mistake i plan to buy nothing, yet i compare it to seeing someone in a parking lot with their hood open.... You have to go over and check it out. Most often we walk out with a pack of Pokemon Cards, or something for the children's household battles, but in this case we grab some silly items and got along our way. Established in 1961, Golden Age Collectables is considered to be the oldest comic book still in operation. It is located in Pike's Market in Seattle Washington, and was one of the few places still open past 5 pm on a weekday (Monday). We stopped in before our 6 pm appointment in the same building, and had a good time browsing around. If you need help, you need to ask...otherwise all the workers are busy doing something. They sell a lot more than just comic books. I was especially interested in their sealed list of movie script copies (selling for around $20). They also had life size cut outs of famous characters. We ended up buying a life size 'Dwight Schrute' for my nephew to display in his new apartment. My brother had the 'privilege' of hand carrying it back home. read more

Golden Age Collectables is the perfect store for collectors of raw comic books (vintage to modern), CGC graded comics, Funko Pops, Trading Card Games, Board Games, and many more! As a recent Funko Pop collector, this place is amazing with its large selection of pops; from commons to rare ones. It was great to see that the prices are very, very reasonable and conditions are mint and pristine. I've seen tons OOS pops at retailer stores or fully stocked pops at LCS, but extremely overpriced. I would've bought some, but didn't want risking the box getting damaged. If I was an OOB collector that would've been different. I used to be a comic book collector so seeing their comic book displays of vintage raw comics and CGC graded ones was amazing. A good amount of first-appearances and grails here. I'm legit jealous of their collection. Only if money wasn't an issue haha. They also have the current modern issues, so that was cool browsing through them. For TCG, I've seen Pokemon TCG posters near the register, but not sure if they have any in stock. Didn't really pay attention. Wouldn't be surprised if they sold PSA/CGC/Beckett graded cards here though. Call their number for the curious. Definitely heaven for big time collectors. Highly recommended. read more

I don't always go to the Market, but when I do I always have to pop my head in here to see what's currently going on. This place has really changed over the years!!! I remember back in the 90s/early 00s it truly was a collectible store in the sense they had a lot of used/rare comics and other items that you most certainly weren't going to find anywhere else. These days it's a lot more mainstream, but they still have a lot of cool stuff! Into Funko Pop? There's an entire wall dedicated to them. Lots of high quality figurines, books, various trinkets, etc. This place is definitely worth popping into if you're in the area! read more

HERE. Seriously, it's an experience and if you are a fan (comic books, Funkos, movies, etc.) you're bound to find something that pops out. For me, I love their wall of movie scripts, and their inventory consistently changes. You can email or ask the workers in the store if a script can be ordered (Marvel movies and Disney scripts are a hard 'no'), and scripts are about $20. I've also appreciated that they have their employees wandering the store (yes, I'm sure this is also a deterrent for any potential shoplifting) as its quick to check if they have something in stock or not. If you are looking for current issues, trades, and pop culture stuff they have a good supply. If you actually want Golden Age comics, they gave some, but good luck actually going through them. I asked if they had a specific silver age comic and was told "I'm not sure, I don't know if Rod has that". God forbid you actually check. I then asked to go through some of the books in the case to see if there was anything I liked and was told "We don't really do that". I came here on vacation, looking to splurge a little. I'm not from Seattle. I came here for the first time over a year ago and it was a great experience. Had nothing bad to say. Fast forward to now and it's a different story. Visited this exact location recently and was in there for probably 20-30 mins looking around. I didn't get a single "hi there" or "can I help you".. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE HERE IS NON EXISTENT. Then when we were ready to pay I got rudely told to move over by some employee. Do manners not exist here? After ringing us through the female employee refused to take our change rudely (don't think that's allowed but alright?) and then just dropped our bag of paid stuff on the counter. DISGUSTING SERVICE. Not a single "thank you" LAZY EMPLOYEE couldn't even hand us our bag instead she dropped it on the counter in front of us. I'll never recommend or come here ever again. Buyer beware Blind box buyer beware I purchased a case of figures and 50% were dups. I should have known better when the employee said they buy a couple cases extra for the employees to buy for themselves. Hot topic, box lunch, it's sugar and various anime mall stores have cases and I've bought them with one dup like it comes from the manufacturer. So, this is very disappointing and I'll never get my blind boxes there again. read more

I spent so much time here as a kid, it's crazy it's still around, and is still just as awesome for me to explore as it was when I was 10. They have a really good selection of Funko pops, lots of both board and table top games, action figures, movie prints and scripts, even tarot cards. Seattle needs more (better) comic shops! I know there are some decent ones north of the ship canal, but down here in the "low rent district" of the South End (j/k, it is expensive here too), options are pretty limited. If you, like me, are looking for the perfect comic shop, you may as well start your quest at the mecca that is Golden Age Collectibles. Golden Age isn't so much a comic shop as a gift shop and pop culture institution. It's fine for what it is, but if you're looking for a place to find your people, this ain't it. They do have helpful and friendly staff, but the location in the heart of Pike Place Market means that it is very busy ALL THE TIME, or at least whenever I am there. They have a decent selection of new and recent single issues from "premier publishers" and lots of trades and graphic novels. The selection is skewed toward Marvel and DC. Although if you're looking for the hot new Image or Dark Horse #1 or something else that isn't too obscure, they probably have that, too. The selection seems to be tailored to what they can move out the door quickly. Which makes sense, of course. Just don't expect many surprises. I can't speak for their subscription service. I shudder at the thought of trying to add books to my pull list with fifteen people waiting behind me clutching their Funko Pops and movie scripts and assorted tchotchkes. Perhaps they conduct some of that business through email, but they seem pretty old school. They FINALLY updated their website last year. It now features a bio of the owner, Rob Dyke, written by Darren Davis for Seattle Met Magazine. Which is kind of cool, I guess. This hobby is all about the personalities, after all. They claim to be the oldest comic shop in the world, which is hard to prove. They do NOT sell through their website or any other online platform as far as I know. Since their business model seems to be based on massive throughput, they always have employees roving around ready to pounce on...er... "help" unsuspecting customers. Seriously, it is nice to have staff around to answer questions. Although if I'm being honest it kind of stresses me out. The whole experience of this place is pretty stressful, especially during a global pandemic (they did a GREAT job of limiting crowds earlier on, but those restrictions have been lifted and the tourists are back in full force). They do have a small number of cheap back issues, but they bundle them in packs of five, which sort of sums up the whole experience for me. They seem to be all about moving inventory and creating a pre-packaged retail experience, which they do quite well. They seem less interested in the art and the hobby of comics. read more

A definite stop for nerds of all kinds. I tell my friends you can find everything at the market and this place has a collection of goods that are worth a trip. Board games, movie scripts, comics, and toys from all the current and trending cartoons as well as the classics. They even have life sized movie posters (in fact thats how you can find this place, by looking for the stand up posters in front). There are people inside to help you beyond just the cashier the prices are not outrageous. read more
