What an awesome Yelp Event! I know we are only half way through the year, but this is my favorite one so far. The night started off checking in. We got cool bandanas and a complimentary drink ticket. I got the 5 Star Stout (Tropical brewed with coffee). Awesome stuff. City Barbeque provided the delicious meal. We were given a tote bag with instructions on making a simple rub recipe, coupon and faqs about their business. I LOVED creating my own Rub! So much fun. My friend Brandy and I did not waste any time and headed to the Buffet line and got our meal. There was green beans (with bacon), Macaroni and Cheese (you can choose the toppings), Brisket (so tender and juicy, the best!!! YUM!!) and for desert- the peach cobbler. The long tables felt like we were outdoors on a picnic. Sweet!! After dinner, we were given a tour by Braxton Brewing Co. Very informative and interesting. It was short and to the point. They brew their beer at this location which is small, yet spacious. I've never been to Braxton Brewing and will definitely return. I love the décor and the long couch to chill out. My second drink is the Storm Golden Cream Ale (smooth and crisp). At the end of the night we had some pictures taken by WINKINGMANPHOTO.COM (Cool Props and backdrop provided). Since I don't get to Covington very often, I wonder how long it would've taken me to find this jewel known as Braxton Brewing. I shudder to think about it. Predominantly a family run business, it is clear that they want to set themselves apart from the rest of the craft beer pack. We learned on our tour that one of the sons in the family started out brewing beers at home when he wasn't even old enough to buy a beer. At 18, he already had an award-winning concoction!! This place is so high-tech that in order to vie for some of the gift cards, you could tweet and see it almost instantaneously right there!! The facility itself was modern, spacious and clean. Co-hosting this amazing Yelp event was City Barbecue! They started off with a bang by letting us all go through their make-your-own-spice-rub bar to bring home some of the resulting deliciousness. Not only were the scents of their spices enticing, but the colors were as well. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to make use of it tomorrow!! Their brisket was mouthwatering and who could resist their mac n' cheese with extra fixings to top it with - think bacon and extra cheeses! After filling our tummies, we were sent home with their simple rub recipe, along with a small container of the one we had made with their ingredients. I found this to be a novel and fun idea!! Then as if that wasn't enough, they gave us a coupon for two free sides when we purchase the smoked meat from them. Here is a company trying to "rub' us the right way. Fun night! This was my first elite event ever. :) Braxton Brewing is a cool new spot that is all about using technology to connect to its customers. I tried the tropical stout infused with coffee and I liked it! (Although not as much as the coffee stout at moerlein.) took a short tour of their brewing process and learned that business is going well! Also found out that they don't charge to rent out the space so I will definitely think about hosting an event here this summer! City BBQ was pretty delicious - better than I remember them being - I ate more than enough Mac n cheese, smoked meat, and freshly made peach cobbler. They had an awesome make-your-own-rub station which was such a cool party favor. I even won a $25 gift card! I could get used to this elite thing... ;) read more

This was a great introduction to Yelp for my +1 and for both of us to the intimate tastes of City Barbeque and Braxton Brewing Co! We both got the newly brewed, coffee-infused 5-Star stout. It was light but bold and refreshing! While in line to make our own rub--great idea!--we met several other Yelpers and +1s. Nothing like making our time useful to show my friend what Yelp is all about :D Then we got in line for the delicious smelling array of food from City Barbeque. The meat was so tender, you could hardly pick it up with your fork; it fell right apart! Followed up with some piping hot peach cobbler, we definitely were filled to the MAX. I also enjoyed hearing about how each batch of food is made with the same recipe and fresh every day. I think it makes a big difference in quality! I cannot wait to go back to Braxton in the future. First yelp event of the year. Boy are they getting harder and harder to get into! This was a very different event as our +1's had to be Yelp newbies who might not have ever gone to an elite event. So I invited my coworker because it had BBQ and Beer. Made her an obvious choice for me to invite. Given the initial guest list, I was expecting a crowd of less than 30 people, but i was so surprised at how big the event was. There was a speedy check in, Yelp goodies, great food from City BBQ, hometown Covington drafts, and new faces to meet. The rub station was a bonus too! It was very confusing, because although the space wasn't so huge that you'd get lost, a lot of people didn't really know which way to go and what the rub station was for or where the food started, but it wasn't as big of a deal simply because we were there early. I'm sure I would have had a different opinion if I had gotten there when the lines were longer. The food was hot and delicious and the make your own mac station was a nice twist. Plenty of tables and seating and opportunities to talk to other Yelpers. The only negative that I have is that, sitting in the back space where the food was, I didn't know and didn't hear the speakers talking up front. I heard a few noises, but it wasn't loud enough to echo through our area and I didn't hear anything about the brewery or City BBQ or whatever they had to say, so I felt left out in that sense and didn't know the brewery tour was taking place until we saw people crowded around someone apparently talking in the back before we joined in. Overall, the crowd was chill, not too big to make it uncomfortable, and it was a great night and way to learn about and check out a brewery that I probably would have never visited or known about otherwise, since I live on the Cincinnati side of the river. I had a blast at this event! Loved the opportunity to bring s new yelping +1! My guest had fun too! City bbq is a go to favorite of mine for their brisket and sides. I don't think anyone does beef brisket better. We had actually hired them the week before to cater a large family party. I was happy to eat their food again. I loved their idea to play up the mac & cheese, a make your own bar. Brilliant and delicious! The game-winner, however, was the Ooey gooey peach cobbler and ice cream. How did I not know about this heavenly creation until now? Don't tell grandma, but I would call it better than hers. Oh, and thanks for the rub recipe and sample. Excited to use that. The brewery was also a hit with everyone I was with. Since I'm expecting, I wasn't much of a drinker. Still loved learning through the tour and experiencing a new hot local location. The bar was comfortable, classy and eclectic. I enjoyed the spacious seating area for the group event . I did have a taste of the coffee infused beer. I'm not much of a beer drinker, but it was a nice treat and I would go back and order one when I'm not pregnant. Thanks again to YELP and our food and drink sponsors! That Mac N' Cheese bar though... Ok, now on with my review. I had to get that out. What a wonderful event. Well done again Cindy/Yelp! I would have never known about this amazing brewery had it not been for this event. I just don't wander into that area much (or at all) so I'm so so so glad I came to this event. Braxton Brewing Company has such an interesting history and the special Yelp beer they had available was delicious. Seriously, how many events do you get to go to that has a SPECIAL beer just for that event!?!? The setting was beautiful, great space and plenty of comfortable seating. I loved making my own rub to take home as a memory and can't wait to use it in the kitchen :) Our tour guide was knowledgable and not too verbose; I think he use his time well and I appreciated not having a way to long tour but that still covered everything I wanted to know, with time for questions. The pictures by Winking Man Photography was a fun addition and I can't wait to get my picture tomorrow! Great props and no wait. Definitely a fun thing to add in to the event. Finally, last but not least, City Barbecue. Yum. Yum. YUM! That Macaroni bar was genius. And the brisket was to die for. I loved all the BBQ sauces they had available. I especially loved that there were plenty for seconds :) The only sad part of the evening was that I couldn't hear the speakers for each business. Another really great Yelp event! First, the time and day were perfect. I love that it was a short and sweet week night event. Totally got me up and out of my evening television viewing routine/rut. Second, the venue was awesome. Without this Yelp event, I would have never known that the Braxton Brewing existed, and I would have been totally missing out. Tucked into Covington (which I admittedly don't venture over to very often), parking was easy and the open concept, garage feeling in the tap room made for accommodating quite a few people very comfortably. I began immediately trying to think of what type of party/gathering would be appropriate. I love that what started in one family's garage has grown exponentially into a unique addition (they are intertwined with social media unlike any other brewing company in the area) to the tri-states exploding brewery/craft beer scene. Third, City BBQ providing the food could not have paired more perfectly with the beer and atmosphere. It felt like the most awesome backyard barbecue ever. And what a way to wind down and ease back into the work week after a holiday weekend. The sides of green beans and mac and cheese (with a little fixin's bar) were good, but the brisket was the star. There was a dry rub bar that was an extra surprise and delight. The experts from City BBQ were there to guide us through the dry spice ingredients for a rub to bring home. I was so thankful to get to come to this event! I can't wait until my family comes to visit from out of town...they love beer and Braxton Brewing would be a place I'm excited to show them! read more

What a great first yelp event! Great job organizing Cindy! The brewery tour was small and intimate. Learned a lot about brewing and the creation of the Braxton brewery. This place is definitely a hidden treasure of Cincinnati. Teamed with City BBQ, this event was a match made in heaven. The BBQ was good as usual. Brisket was nicely flavored and tender! The rub station was fun, and I can't wait to use my mix on my ribs at home. The atmosphere was definitely cozy. It has a garage-feel because the owners started out in a garage. There's a huge garage in the middle of the brewery that opens both ways. You can look right through and see the fermentation tanks in the back, which are clean and tidy. The smell of the beer hits you as soon as you walk in, so you know this place is the real deal. If you're looking for good beers, a good time, with an intimate feel, then this is the spot for you. read more

What's next, Cindy?? I don't trek to Covington often, but so glad I did for this Yelp event! Though there was no off-street parking lot, it was not a problem at all. Check-in was easy breezy (thanks to the interns :o). We received our Yelp bandana as a perk. Yay! Then we were given a tour of the brewery in small groups. The guide was in charge of marketing and very informative. He gave us the history, guided us through the process, and also gave us a hint of what's in the pipeline for the future. For such a young company (2 months old), they are amazingly well-run. The bar and seating areas were spacious and well-lit. There is an event area that can be rented for free. That is where City Barbecue set up. They had a fun make-a-rub station and gave us the recipe on cards so that we can make more at home. (Thank goodness because my friend's dog made it disappear overnight!) The eats provided by City Bbq were yummy - I tried the mac n cheese, green beans with bacon, and beef brisket from the carving station. Assorted sauces to select from to top it all off! When it came to decide which beer to try, it was a difficult decision. They had brewed a special Yelp beer which was very tempting. I typically like the lighter wheat beers though, so I went with their Sparky, which is sold at the ball park. I will definitely be ordering it at GABP! What can I say? Another great event. Thanks to Cindy & the whole Yelp team for their hard work. Thank you to Braxton and City BBQ for their hard work & yummy contributions. Going in, I didn't realize Braxton Brewing has only been open for two months. Their team was great. They were friendly, courteous, and fun. The garage themed decor not only helps tell their history, but gives the brewery a down to earth feel. I can see this being a place people come to regularly to enjoy a game, or even a night out. Braxton is wired. Not only do they have tv's (including a projection screen,) and a few video games, they have their own app, not to mention pictures that they are tagged in, and shared on social medial can be viewed on screens right there in the brewery. It's fascinating how the brewing process works at Braxton. Their process allows them to make specialty flavored beers, without disruption to brewing traditional selections. This may give them a leg up on the local competition. It doesn't hurt that their beer has won various awards and accolades before they even opened. In an area that takes their beer seriously, Braxton has come out swinging. Yelp took this event up a notch, and added City Barbecue to the mix. The City BBQ team seem to be passionate about what they do. It doesn't hurt that the what they do they do well. The brisket was tender and flavorful, while still having a nice bite. I really enjoyed the sweet sauce. I wish I had put a little of each on the plate to try the others. I guess I will just have to head into one of their locations. The Mac & cheese was creamy. The topping bar on the side of the Mac & cheese was fun. Even more fun was the build your own spice rub bar. City BBQ already included the recipe in their totes (let's not forget the coupon for the 2 free sides,) they really took it a step further by creating this interactive experience. Loved this event! The barbecue was delicious, the brief tour was informative, and the beer was tasty. I'm so glad this event was able to show off one of the newer additions to Cincinnati's beer scene. I often attend Yelp events solo, and sometimes find the cliqueishness of other attendees to be off-putting. However, I found it easy to strike up conversations with many of the participants at this event -- not sure if it was the vibe of this event or just new people attending. Either way I'm glad I came out of Yelp event hibernation for this one. read more

Thank you Yelp Cincinnati for a memorable night. I experienced so many firsts: a new craft brewery in Greater Cincy, Braxton; and City Barbeque; and a make-your-own dry rub bar; and drum roll, a photo booth with all the great props for goofy portrait shots. I participated in all of the above and had a great time, as Braxton is a sweet brewhouse to hang out for a couple hours with friends! We'll be back here in the summer for sure. I've read the press on Braxton Brewery, what excellent beers, had the porter with dates and the stout, both great dark brews. I've been to numerous craft breweries and this one has all the right chops, very comfortable and well designed for casual, fun entertainment. I thought this Yelp event was perfect! The venue has a great set up that makes it easy to meet new people and engage in activities. Loved the owners coming to share parts of their story and the background on their businesses. City BBQ was amazing and there was tons of food--the mac and cheese bar was great and the peach cobbler was ahhhmazing. I am catering an event soon and I was very impressed with their service/product and would love to use them in the future. The City BBQ make your own rub station was a fun take-home as well. The photo station was a fun way to interact with other attendees and I can't wait to come back and try more of the beers! Bartenders were extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the product. This was such an awesome event! Loved the City Barbeque setup with the carving station and awesome mac n chese! My favorite part was the build your own rub! So cool that you can customize it to your own tastes. Monti also shared that you can use a mustard and water combination (50-50) to enhance the flavor! This was my first yelp event and it was a lot of fun! I don't frequent the area, but I thought it was really cool. Braxton Brewing was a great, open space with a big bar, some tables, and two extra long couches in the middle of the space, which I loved. Everything else about the event was awesome, as well! The food from City BBQ was delicious and plentiful, the beer (specifically the IPA) was tasty, but most of all, the people were extremely friendly and welcoming from the fellow yelpers, to the bar staff, to the City BBQ people. Everyone was engaging and willing to go out of their way to answer a question or just chat! I would definitely love to attend another yelp event and will be visiting Braxton Brewing again! read more

Another great Yelp Elite event hosted by Cincy Cindy! The night started out great with a parking spot right out front! I was able to try the beer, Storm, and really liked it, nice and refreshing. A great event by Cindy that included beer, BBQ and make your own mac and cheese - what more do you need?! It is always great when the vendors are as excited as the Yelpers to tell us about their offerings from the tour of Braxton and the bartenders explaining their offerings to the catering manager of City Barbecue explaining to me that every employee needs to know how to prepare the food so that it all done consistently and never a shortage. Who knew? but now I do! I had been wanting to check out Braxton Brewery since it opened, so imagine my pure joy when I got the invitation to this event. Needless to say I was ALL OVER IT. And, as if a free beer, private event, and brewery tour weren't enough, then add on FREE City BBQ and a photo booth, and I'm a happy girl! I'll start with Braxton. The staff could not have been more friendly, knowledgeable and just downright PUMPED to have us there. Is it true that they're more polite in the south? Because just crossing the river and visiting Braxton sure made it seem that way. I was especially excited to learn about their private room rental space, and as a social media pro, was super jazzed about the social media monitors scattered around. What's even cooler is they brewed a beer just for us! Anything mixed with coffee has my seal of approval, although I opted for the lighter wheat beer (my go-to) since I'm not much of a stout gal. But really, everything about Braxton impressed me, and I walked away already looking forward to my next visit. Next: City BBQ. I had been to their "joints" (the owner and workers refuse to call it a restaurant) many times, and had experienced their catering even more times, but I never knew they were a local Ohio biz. Now I love them even more! Besides, they brought a MAC AND CHEESE BAR. Aaaand whether or not they knew it, they won me over instantly. Their pulled pork was excellent, as was their peach cobbler with a not-so-secret ingredient of almond extract. Take my word for it and grab some next time you're in! Another cool touch was their "make your own rub" station, which laid out all the ingredients to their rub, so everyone brought home a taste of City BBQ. I can't wait to try it the next time I make chicken (or really any meat) at home! It was especially endearing to see the staff so passionate about their work and proud of their BBQ. You've got my heart, fellas! Lastly, Winking Man Photography. SO fun. I loved that he's just a guy with a passion for advertising, photography, and marketing -- these are a few of my favorite things! The Yelp customized backdrop, along with barbecue and Yelp themed props made the experience even more enjoyable! The photos turned out to be a hoot. You really can't go wrong with a photo booth at any event, in my eyes. I really enjoyed the event Yelp's Brews & BBQ. Cindy always puts on such great events. First off, the brewery itself was a great place to host an event. The floor plan of the brewery really worked well for this Yelp event. It is very open and airy and I think that everyone was able to meet and mingle with each other. Not only was the brewery a great place for this event, but pairing BBQ with beer.... Can't get much better than that! To make it even better, it was some of the best BBQ in the Cincinnati area. City BBQ. Not only were the food and beer great, but there was also a photo booth and brewery tour that took place. Don't let the 3 stars fool you, I still had a great time!!! This was my first ever yelp event! I didnt even know these existed until a yelp elite member invited me What a great way to show of what the nati has to offer. I am a bit of a craft beer snub having grown up in Michigan; while the brewery was small the beers it produced were some of the cleanest tasting beers I have ever tasted! I will definitely stop by this summer for a growler or two! This was my first time having city BBQ. Having driven past it countless times on my way to work I was curious to try it. Not sure if it was the buffet style set up but the food was a bit lack luster. The Mac and cheese was runny and not really cheesy ( but I loved the fixins) and im pretty sure the buns for the BBQ sandwhichs were bought at Kroger. The desert while sweet was still very good. On another note it may be helpful to have some type of speaker system when making announcements because no one could hear anything over in the dinning area when the business reps were talking Now I'm not a person to turn my nose up at free food and the food was good, I feel the whole point of things like this is to give an honest review. This event was so fun! It was awesome that there were multiple things going on at once. Between the photo booth, brewery tour, "make your own spice rub," and delicious food/drink, it was impossible to sit still for too long! Also, the venue was the right size for the amount of people. It was easy to find a place to sit when needed, but the venue also felt full and lively. I loved seeing that the staff at the event were so engaged- it was really clear that they were very excited to show off Braxton! Their energy was infectious and made the night awesome. What a fun and fantastic night! This place is super cool and I'm so excited to have a great brewery this side of the river. I was able to meet and ask a bunch of questions with the owner, and I'm confident they will have great success. The setup of the establishment is perfect! All the brewing area is set up in the back (with space to grow because they were thinking ahead), and on the front end is a very cool, cozy hangout place. Lots of great seating (awesome leather couches), very cool design and branding as well. They even have fun games like live jenga and board games. Lots of good tv's for game watching too. Now, the important stuff - the beer. It was really quite outstanding. I was able to taste and try them all and ended up having a fully Sparky and Dead Blow. Storm = incredibly drinkable ... probably dangerous. It was very nice to have our own special brew of the night (a coffee infused Dead Blow), but I have to say my favorite beer was their regular Dead Blow - a tropical stout. Yes! Delicious! As for the food on the evening - City BBQ. These guys just do it right. Every time I've had City BBQ, I'm always pleased. And their energy and service on the evening was just incredible. They were happy to serve (I received the gentleman's cut of the brisket with some extra bark - thank you!!!) And my preggers wife was more than happy with some extra mac n' cheese and peach cobler. Can't say enough good things about them - the food was delicious, and I just like their personality and friendliness. I had a great time at my first ever yelp event. It was well organized, kept the crowd informed just enough and provided access to a new venue. The brewery tour was loose, fun and informative. The beers were all delicious and the staff very helpful. Even though I am a vegetarian who went to a BBQ event Cinci BBQ had some delicious Mac and Cheese. The design and layout of the place was very well done as well. Looking forward to seeing what beers come out of this brewery in the future. read more

Excellent event. The special Yelp brew was a good add. The make-your-own-rub was fun (and it's been delish in my kitchen) and the food stations were good. What a great collaboration of local Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky businesses! Winking Man Photography set up a fun little booth, City BBQ provided delicious beef brisket, mac 'n' cheese, green beans, and peach cobbler, and Braxton Brewing Co. kept the good stuff flowing. Great meeting new Yelpers as always and learning about these businesses' humble histories. I especially loved the make-your-own rub station and be able to bring a little something home. Cindy always creates the coolest events; this was no exception! For those unfamiliar with Braxton Brewery, it's a new brewery in Covington created and ran by two brothers, their father, and one of the son's brewer mentor. The space itself is super cool, modern and open, yet cozy. The event was catered by City BBQ (so tasty!) with brisket, mac and cheese, and green beans. Lots of sauces to sample. Amazing peach cobbler for dessert. City BBQ even had a create your own rub and I can't wait to use it to make some ribs on the grill here soon! Back to the beer... I tried the IPA and the tropical stout infused with coffee that was created just for the Yelp event... both were tasty. There was a brief tour which was informative, funny, and also short and sweet. Cindy nails it again with an awesome Yelp Elite event! I'm already a huge fan of Braxton and CIty Barbecue, so this was a dream evening for me. Free food and a free beer, how can you top that? It was great to do the tour of Braxton, since I'm a giant beer nerd. I also thought the build-your-own mac and cheese bar was a great idea. It and the rest of the food was amazing. Also, whoever thought of the build-your-own spice rub station is a genius. I used my rub on some grilled chicken quarters a few days after the event, and even my picky eater of a wife loved it. It was such a great evening, and I'd like to thank Cindy, Yelp, Braxton, City BBQ, and the other companies and people that made it possible. read more
