Yen Linh is famed locally for excellent Viet food, not limited only to pho and Viet sandwiches, and I confirm the rumours. Clearly fresh ingredients, excellent presentation, good value, fair prices, clean interior design, and swift service all round out the experience. As always, the food first: I've had pho everywhere with the high expectation of clear broth, true natural quality, no artificial anything to masque its natural flavor, super fresh sprouts and lime and mint (not basil) leaves on the side, freshly cut beef, al-dente noodles, and perfectly clean wares. Yen Linh met all traits. I especially appreciated the speed with which it comes out because the timely freshness from putting the beef into the hot just boiling broth is a key determinant in pho's goodness. Carry-out pho is a serious no-no unless all ingredients are separately packaged which is wastefully unenvironmental, so always have it in-house. Competitive Viet restaurants abound nearby but I found Yen Linh first upon recommend so I stay. Alcohol is available, an assortment of Western and Eastern beers. Interior design is sparse with simple tables and chairs, namely the thinner laminate kind, but no worries. Next time I'll report on the sandwiches and fried goods, another major realm of Viet cuisine in Adelaide to say nothing about the menu's many seafood dishes. Service is quick and attentive with the whole family of presumably one related to the owner chipping into make it all work quickly. While I went at non-peak hours intra-day, they act quickly enough to be confident in their handling evening rush. Didn't use restrooms or ask for other amenities like high chair, booster seat, etc. Billing is customary, no cash only rules, TV is there as background accompaniment. TiP: Massive menu-something for everyone. We went here for dinner to meet friends who drive across town once a month just to enjoy the great food at this hidden gem in Croydon Park. Tucked into the back corner of the parking lot next to an Asian grocery, it's easy to find if you know it's there. Decor is, well...unpretentious (you can ignore the "Paris" screen in the corner too). Dress is as casual as you want to be. Service is fast-both order taking and food delivery. Dishes are brought out as they are ready but our table of four all got their mains within 3-4 minutes of the first one being served. Every dish has a fresh, crisp, made-for-you taste and you can find the layers of flavour in each dish--this food hasn't been sitting in a steam table all night developing "mono-taste." Some items are marked spicy--tangy is probably a better word. However there is plenty of hot sauce at the table to flame it up a notch or two. Prices are VERY reasonable-mains are mostly in the less than $15 range and serves are available as small, large, and extra-large. Trust me and go with large unless you are enormously hungry. This place can be obscure if you are not looking for it. Tucked in a group of Asian shops across from an Asian grocery stores you will find its unsuspecting door. No giant sign, no flashing lights. I've only ever eaten Pho here, with rare beef and beef meatballs and have always enjoyed it. The soup has good flavour and depth while the portions are generous. Food comes out fast and piping hot so it's perfect for my to dunk all my bean sprouts and herbs in. I like having a plate of hoisin sauce and chilli to dip my beef slices in as well just for extra flavour. The menu is quite big so if you don't want noodles there are other dishes too. My husband had the chicken noodle soup and thoroughly enjoyed it too! read more

So these friends on mine are on a mission to eat their way through Hanson Rd's vietnamese establishments and nearby restaurants. They did this for a couple of years before refusing to move from this place. It's now their favourite. This was my second time here. The first was in summer and not, for me anyway, pho weather. But this time, I had to "Go the Pho". I chose the rare steak and noodle pho in a small size. Served with a choice if sauces, fresh bean sprouts and Thai basil and it was perfect. Others at dinner had crispy skinned chicken with egg noodles, spicy beef stew, spicy pork and beef, and spicy dried beef and papaya salad. Everything was great! Servings are huge. (I couldn't finish my small), well-priced (5 of us ate for under $80 with non-alcoholic drinks), fresh and tasty. The drinks are interesting (I had the very tasty kumquat juice). It is not flashy, but a notch up from your basic formica and laminate decor. Located in a set of shops which includes an Asian grocer. We stopped here on recommendation before going to a movie. Its in a strange part of town, but don't let the facade put you off. its small inside but the service is impeccable. Our food came really fast and HOT. My noodle bowl was so delicious but I couldn't finish it - this was a regular size one too! The satay beef we had for entree was devoured in seconds. Scouting around the area's vietnamese restaurants poses a daunting task for anyone trying to hunt down the perfect Pho for them. Yen Linh is one of the more iconic in the area, and has its ups and downs. The Pho is a solid offering, but to my taste a little less robust than some others around. During a busy lunch service mine was quick to arrive (noting that service generally was great), and plenty of herb sundries on offer. The broth is tasty and not too salty, but lacking a bit of the depth and anise of others that is my particular preference. The noodles were also a bit on the thick side for my taste and clumping together. As in all things Pho, you just have to try things yourself as tastes vary wildly. In a real need of some food ingredients for cooking at home a drive to Croydon Park Asian grocery store on Days Road turned out to be more than a shopping trip. Feeling hungry after purchasing my groceries YEN LINH VIETNAMESE restaurant looked promising. The restaurant s located at shop 14 corner of Regency and Days road Croydon Park. Open TUESDAY to SUNDAY 10am to8pm.The place is just another shop with average décor but good food at realistic prices. Started with crumbed prawn fritters as entrée and then consumed a seafood combination stir fry with rice noodles. both meals fantastic .This a good restaurant with excellent service. Yen Linh is notorious throughout the Asian community for great Vietnamese food. However I find their food subpar - the Pho made me feel sick after and was quite expensive for the portion size. The rice dishes are the highlight of this restaurant and I would recommend the combination rice dish. The service isn't that great either - they expect you to figure out what you're eating in 2 minutes and get annoyed when you're not ready to order yet. I would come to Yen Linh for rice dishes or if my favourite Vietnamese restaurant was closed. read more
