Consistently good over the years we've been coming here (& years since I've been) we weren't disappointed tonight.
Initially worried by the big fish tank through the window, (I've left restaurants with produce waiting in the water), we were relieved to see a few goldies enjoying lots of room without the threat of death.
We started with the cold rolls served with a satay sauce. With choices of seafood or vegetarian, the ingredients were beautifully balanced to create a fresh and light entree. (2 rolls/serve)
Next was the Vietnamese Hot Pot which starts with a layer of rice, hopefully slightly overcooked so it's crunchy on the bottom, layered on top with vegetables/seafood/meat/egg depending on preferences. The pot was opened at the table by the waiter and mixed together. The smell reassured us this would be delicious.
We also had fluffy and tender salt and pepper squid with a fried hot Chilli and spring onion sauce. It has a bit of something else, maybe vinegar?, to hold it together. Fiery and addictive.
The staff were obliging, friendly and helpful.
There is BYO w corkage, and an extensive beer/wine list, but I can't go past the $4.50 house rose. Why would you? read more
