This is fast becoming my favorite organic market be ause they have so many things that I like. I'm a fan of Pop Corners chips and today I purchased a large bag of spices queso chips. There was also an affordable pack of fresh organic strawberries that caught my eye. They were only $4.00. The Trickling Springs organic milk is a must have in my refrigerator and they always have plenty of that milk in stock here. The smoked Gouda salad was tempting, but I know that I would eat the whole container in one sitting, so I skipped that for today. Their bakery products are extremely limited and I think they source these from somewhere else because they come in a package and they're not baked here. A good place for organic groceries. In DC there's a few locations, including this one. Yes! Is a local chain of organic grocery stores. Each carry a lot of healthy items and stuff that's hard to find. This one is close to Capitol Hill. Good selection even though it's not big. It looks a lot smaller than your typical grocery store. This only has a few aisles and there's not much room to get through. It makes it seem more cozy. The prices here are pretty good. Fresh produce much fresher than at a typical chain. There's also lots of locally grown items. I like this location because it's easy to get here. It's close to a Metro station. There's a small park area to eat across 8th Street. read more

Yes! Organic Market is a wonderful small business, located conveniently along 8th Street in Capitol Hill. I come here whenever I need a few quick things and definitely prefer the shopping experience here to something like Safeway or Whole Foods. The vibe here tends to be a lot more chill, and I gravitate towards the least-hectic vibe possible when I'm out getting groceries. For that, Yes! Organic delivers. I would love to see this shop improve its beer selection a bit. They have a lot of local brews (which makes sense), but it would be nice to have a few more imported beers to choose from. I personally prefer to shop for liquor at Classy Corks, just on the other side of the freeway. Yes! Organic has a great selection of grab-and-go eats, too. There are lots of awesome sushi meals that you can grab, as well as sandwiches and wraps. Their bread selection is fantastic, too. The tortillas in particular are great! I love that this store prioritizes healthy options. Even though it's small, they really focus on having vegan-friendly and gluten-free foods. This is so nice to see! They also have a great ice cream selection. Overall, I'm very grateful to the folks at Yes! Organic who have helped me out whenever I visit. The employees are pretty friendly and very easygoing. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend giving this place a try whenever you want to make a special meal or need a few things. It's pricey, but so is everything else in DC. Upon walking in, the manager Carlos, touched my back and slid down to my butt. I still purchased something and then I called the police. The employees were laughing and thought it was funny. The cashier attempted to say I stole. The other employee was laughing because I was visually and hearing impaired. The manager scared me so bad I asked to be banned from this location. I love Yes! Organic but the Cleveland Park location never treated me like this. As I always say, its not hte company its the people. If you're an organics fan, you'll love Yes! Organic Market. Set right next to the Eastern Market Metro, it's super convenient to pick up a few organic items before headed home. If you need to park for a larger shopping spree, there should be street parking a few blocks away if you can't find any near the market. If you're stopping by just to pick up a few items, it's a good spot too. They have everything from fresh produce (they even had red cabbage!), fresh bread and quick serve items like ready to drink iced tea (Shout out to Honest Tea!). Since it's organic and right in Eastern Market, it's all more expensive than Safeway or Harris Teeter, but the if you just need 1-2 items, the convenience may be worth it. I was taking a walk during my lunch hour in the Eastern Market neighborhood and I happened upon this place. I've been to their other locations in the city, and I just love this store! I wasn't extremely hungry so I decided to just grab a bag of Kettle Chips because they are so darn delicious. I couldn't help myself to walk around to see what else was good. Wow the vegetarian sesame noodles looked really tempting but I couldn't pull myself to do it today. It was cool that they even feature a full service sushi bar- I did not know that. The grind-your-own coffee machine was there, and they offer quite a selection of various coffee bean blends. They even sell various organic cleaning supplies which is cool. Overall, the place was quaint and it smelled good inside. The AC was also cranking which was helpful on a day like today! read more

This is my local grocery store, and I love it so much. The hours are fantastic and allow me to stop in right after a morning workout, and the produce is always extremely fresh. You pay for what you get, and I don't mind supporting a local business and knowing I'm going to have amazing produce. They also carry CAVA brand dips for a great price. I love their selection of pasta, honey, Asian ingredients and their fresh shrimp. Their staff, including manager Carlos, never fails to ask me how I'm doing and if I need help with anything. They're also usually well stocked with hand sanitizer and wipes if you are still having little luck finding anti-bacterial products! The store itself has customers and staff who are respectful of your space and have multiple signs declaring the mask mandate. read more

I love to eat baked red Asian sweet potatoes for breakfast. This is not the bland, babyfood kind you get from American yams, but sweet and carby sweet potatoes that you can only find in the Asian varietal. You don't need to help these guys along with any sweetener, as they are naturally sweet. Unfortunately, acquiring red Asian sweet potatoes required me to trek all the way to Virginia in search for H-Mart (Safeway and my beloved Trader Joe's don't carry them). BUT I found out that Yes! Organic carries these red Asian sweet potatoes! I was also in search for various teas - as a student, I am always sipping on different teas to amuse myself while studying - and found everything from simple organic Chamomille to Dandelion Root here. The other yelpers are correct in that the prices are quite steep - avocados for $2.00! - but if you have particular, dire needs and no time to travel far, I think Yes! I honestly love this place and the variety of healthy products that this location have. The reason for the 4 is mainly about customer service. I came in wanting to get the green juice which is really good. I was greeted by the cashier which was really friendly. When I went to the back to place my order for the juice it took them almost one to two minutes just to get to see someone was there. I kept saying hello to see if someone would hear me. Until someone walked back that is when someone came back. As they are preparing my order I asked them if it is possible to put my order in my glass bottle which I had with me. One of the store associate proceeded to say no I have to transfer it into the glass bottle. I asked why and they couldn't give me a straight answer! I was trying to save on plastic. Located a hop, skip and a jump from our rental crib, we liked having the convenience of this place, with friendly, welcoming staff, lots of yummy vittles and a nice selection of liquid grapes. The best part about this place is that they sell Talenti gelato. Just ask my cousin. She was instantly hooked and couldn't decide if her favorite was the double chocolate, the mint chocolate chip or the butter pecan. Had we stayed in DC longer, I'm sure she would've tried the remaining 28 flavors ;-P Now if you've never had Talenti gelato, you just might be missing out on some yummy goodness in your mouth, so mosey on over and pick some up, then you can be green and re-use the container to store your sugar, your coffee, your pot, your pills, some hummingbird nectar or whatever else floats your boat. Went to Yes! during COVID19 month of April twice. The first time was on Saturday morning, second was mid week at noon. Both times there were not more than 5 customers in the store but .... even though there is a sign on the door that mandates to ware a mask, one man walked without it to grab a bottle of soft drink, and the store staff said nothing. Trader Joe's wouldn't even let you into the store without a mask, here nobody cares. Secondly, both times there were more of store own staff and the delivery folks than the customers. The aisles are very narrow and I was constantly trying to avoid staff who seemed to mind their own business ( making inventory notes by standing in the aisle and blocking the passage without reacting when you approach them, delivery contractors hauling the boxes in wearing a loosely put bandana and not respecting social distancing). There is no any attempt to introduce a one way moving within the store, customers are constantly bumping into each other or bump into staff. I don't understand why the store can't introduce one way pattern, reduce opening hours so that all restocking, inventory, etc can be done outside of the hours when the shoppers can easily move inside. In addition, the prices for the same items are at least double in comparison with Trader Joe's and higher than at Mom's. I am in a risk group and went to Mom's to avoid the line in the bigger stores. Yes! Is a Petri dish. Will not go back even though it is walking distance shopping for me. At least not until the store owners will make this place safer to shop read more

As a frequent customer and a produce manager with another company its disheartening to be profiled in other establishments. The proper way to deter theft is service all patrons as customers asking each person if they need help, have they found everything they need, etc. Not follow the person down the aisle then running down another aisle to meet them at the front never once offering help. I don't live near here so if I ever stop by it is usually a deliberate trip. With the Trader Joe's open, you can essentially buy the same stuff, different brands albeit, for cheaper. There are certain things that I like that I know only Yes! carries. Trader Joe's doesn't sell chew sticks. Yes! does and I buy them when I am on a Wu-Tang '94-'95 jag. The tea selection that Yes! has is one of my favorites. Trader Joe's teas don't do it for me. I like the Hope hummus that have only seen at Yes! and oddly enough, Aldi. read more

Great food, awful cashiers, starting with the older Asian women. Never expect them to greet you OR reply to your greeting. Instead, their greeting is "do you want a bag?" It's beyond annoying. And there's no common sense either. Even if I'm buying several items and will obviously need a bag, i get the same stupid question/greeting all the time. Yes! is one of those places that I'll visit when I'm looking for something specific that I can't find elsewhere, like their awesome Prince of Peace Ginger Honey Tea, which I frequently rely on when I'm sick. The cashiers are usually reasonably friendly, although I've been in a time or two when I felt like my presence in the store was burdensome. Yes has fresh fruit and veggies--much better than what you can find at the closest Harris Teeters. But I must echo everyone else's point that this place is overpriced. I've spotted quite a few items that are up to 30% more than at Whole Foods. So, this is a convenience stop for me, but once the Whole Foods in Navy Yard is open in a few short months, they'll definitely have some serious competition. read more

If you are looking at Yes! as a substitute for your shopping at a place like Safeway or Giant, you are kind of missing the point. This is a specialty store selling organic products. I like the fact that I can buy prepared goods here that I cannot find at true substitutes (like Whole Foods). Specifically, the wealth of prepared vegan-friendly products they offer is reason alone for me to set foot in their door. Looking for prepared udon noodle salads or dumpling variations or even a vegan bento box? This organic market has you covered. Yes, I think it's dumb to pay $8 for kale chips. But I think that is dumb at Whole Foods as well. I can understand people not wanting to pay $5-6 for the items I described in the previous paragraph. Blow me. I wish I could eat everything on the planet as well without having insane allergy attacks. The thing I love most about this market is it's exactly like Whole Foods except smaller. There's a quaint feeling to it that just screams "Welcome!". I love it! It has all the essentials: organic fruits, veggies, snacks, vegan stuffs And some non-essentials: organic craft beer for the win! And even some stuff in between: all natural drink hydration tablets??? This location is a little smaller than most but the shelves are neat, organized, and well lit and the staff is uber friendly. Not worth a trip out of the way. Will do in a pinch. Nothing special, nothing extordinary. Generic psuedo-organic-naturalistic-holistic whatever. Go to Trader Joes or Whole Foods instead for the truly good and fresh organic selections. Despite Yes! being on my way to just about everything, I only just managed to stop by the new location this weekend. I was impressed by the new space and the helpfulness of the staff. Now, I will say I'm in agreement with other Yelpers that most items are prohibitively expensive and would probably not recommend doing your regular staples shopping there (eggs, milk, etc., unless you have a proclivity toward certain organic brands not carried in the regular grocery store)... HOWEVER, if you have food allergies/intollerances/dietary differences, Yes! Organic is a haven on the Hill for those living "without". I went wheat- and dairy-free about a month ago, and let me tell you, trying to find certain alternatives at certain nearby grocery stores is a futile exercise. Yes! Organic stocks plenty of the basics (lots of different GF flours, as opposed to just cake and muffin mixes like some places...) and ready-made allergen-free baked goods and frozen meals, which are all clearly marked and, truth be told, right in the same price range as Whole Foods. Updated 12/24/12: Bumped up from 1 star to 2. They lowered some of their prices. Honestly, it's still crazy expensive but closer to what they were before they moved locations. The lemons are now $1.19 and limes $0.99, Kashi cereal $6.29. I think they lowered ice cream and some other items too but I wasn't tracking those too closely. A small avocado was $1.29, pretty close to HT prices, which was a pleasant surprise. Still too high overall but moving in the right direction. Can now shop here occasionally without feeling like a total chump. --- prior review below --- two words: Obscenely Expensive. $1.79each for lemons, $6.99 for Kashi cereal, $7.49 for Toms deodorant. Really? I expect organic markets to cost more, but this takes things to a whole new level. Got some great LOOKING keyword: looking.....bread which was hard as a rock and nothing like the quality you get a Whole Foods. Got some "organic" chips and salsa that everyone at a gathering HATED. A fairly typical organic/specialty store on 8th street. They have a decent selection of most of the expected items, a small selection of fresh fruit and veggies, a nice selection of frozen things too, including Arctic Zero ice-cream which the wife loves. There's nothing much else to say, I know some people's reviews have said the staff aren't friendly or helpful, but we haven't seen that to be the case. They've been friendly and usually make me laugh every time I've been in, so either people are putting off the "f-u" vibe, or we just keep getting lucky. They still have all the elements one would expect from a natural foods type store, just a small selection of them. I used to enjoy shopping at this store. It is small, pricey, and the selection is limited, but they have some unique items and treats like a lot of organic stores, and it's a place to stop in and buy snacks near my work. This review is based purely on an incident that I had with them and their poor customer service in follow-up. I recently went into this store while I was wearing a brand new dress I just purchased. There was a long, heavy strip of velcro-type material that was firmly attached to the door. Specifically, it was on the skinny side of the door which touches the wall when it closes. To be clear, this velcro was very heavy and very firmly attached to the thin side of the door where it closes against the wall - it wasn't something like a sticker that had accidentally gotten stuck there. The velcro grabbed my dress and I had to peel if off to detach myself from the door. As a result, the velcro ended up ripping my dress in several places. I have contacted management TWICE about this incident and apparently they couldn't even bother to reply. I feel this ruined my dress. I buy most of my clothes second-hand, but recently had to purchase an entirely new maternity/nursing wardrobe as I'm seven months pregnant, and it's been expensive. I felt that I had something nice and it was instantly ruined - and I feel the store should take some responsibility for the damage. All I did was walk into the store to make a purchase as a customer. The store's website mentions that its "family-owned local grocery chain" is "responsive to the needs of the community it serves through customer service, special product requests, charitable contributions and community support." I would argue that this is absolutely not true. read more

The Yes! Market is my go-to spot on Capitol Hill. Despite many grocery options, Yes! is where my girlfriend and I do most of our shopping for all of our meals.
