Ok hear me out. This grocery store is on the pricier side. But I love that it's right in my neighborhood, that all the food sold is on the healthier side and that their guacamole is the bomb.com A friend brought some guacamole to a recent cinco de mayo party that we had and I've been hooked ever since. It's so creamy and the flavor is 10/10! The interior of the grocery store is clean, well organized and the staff is friendly. It definitely looks like they know their regulars well. This location is so inferior to my old organic market (Mom's Organic Market in Ivy City). It needs a complete overhaul. There just isn't much of a selection and everything is really expensive (like Whole Foods without any sales). Also, I came in on a hot day with my toddler grandson. We were looking for a cold sugar-free (no added sugars) drink. All they had were drinks that contained a ton of sugar or CBD or hemp. This store is in a food desert, so it'd be nice to have some cold organic or simple clean drinks that the whole family can enjoy. Friendly staff, not overly crowded, and has a lot of the basics as well as some of your less traditional snacks and flavors. I've always found a good selection of fresh produce and never had to wait for more than a few minutes in line. Purchased a packet of Turkey bacon from the 12th street location, went to return because the beacon turned GREEN in less than three days. The manager was not on site, however a gentleman from the back came to assist. It gets better, I asked him his name when I called to see if the manager had returned, I found out that he had given me an incorrect name. WOW He was rude, unprofessional asked if I had a receipt, (IN WHICH I DID NOT), his attitude sucked and I will never ever shop at this location ever again, an its my neighborhood store. I was surprised to find a Yes market I hadn't yet visited in Brookland. It's a decent-sized market with a selection similar to the others; a small amount of organic produce and a large amount of niche health food. By selection, it is no competition to MOM's (or Whole Foods, if you swing that way), but in the immediate area, this seems to be the health food store of record. They have a parking lot (which says 30 minute parking; I doubt they are that strict but it is notable that they don't think anyone will be in the store longer than that). Prices are high of course, but I saw plenty of locals walking out with full bags. read more

I usually love this store. The selection is fantastic and I always know I can find little gems at this store. Today's experience however, left a lot to be desired. Everyone was busy working, stocking, and things like that, but that shouldn't be an excuse for poor customer service. I was not even greeted when I walked in, although there was an employee near the door. I asked for help and the employee told me he was with someone else which is fair, but another person sitting down gestured that I would have to wait for the other person. This really rubbed me the wrong way because they didn't even offer to listen to what I was asking for. In the meantime, a couple other employees passed me but no one offered assistance. They didn't even greet me. After a little over five minutes of standing in the aisle, I was ready to leave. As I was preparing to leave, I asked someone for help and they helped me which is nice. The cashier was pleasant. I'm not in often, but hopefully they improve their customer service, otherwise, I will not be returning. read more

This was the grocery store I basically grew up in. Come here all the time with my dad while he does his shopping, I get samples and rack up on granola. They do have a parking lot which is great& street parking is available on the same side of the grocery store& usually available across the street by PNC Bank. Groceries can be a little pricey here, bottom line. But, you get what you pay for& this is good, organic food. What I will say is that, I CAN find some of my favorite cherry and cranberry juices about $3 cheaper @ Walmart in Riggs neighborhood- same with Honeycrisp apples and grapes.. Overpriced for the products you receive and terrible customer service from management. They carry stale chips for double the price of Tostitos. When the manufacturer provided us with a replacement to make it better Yes! organic Market rejected it. Leaving us with 2 terrible bags for the price of $8. With a rude and indifferent manager it is clear this location cares more about $8 and a bad product than keeping a life long customer. Many years ago this particular location was the place to go. I received a great shock at the Brookland location in NE DC the other day. I walked in feeling great. I by passed the drinks on the right side this time and headed toward the fruits which I have been into lately. Well I spotted the yellow/orange watermelons already sliced. They looked so good and I have never had these before. So I walked to them. I picked up a package but looked at another package and guess what I saw. A dead fly inside the package. Wow. I sat the package In my hand down. And threw my gloves away. I wore gloves to not contaminate anything but it is funny that I took off my gloves after spotting the nice sized fly inside the watermelon package just in case it had previously landed on the one I had in my hand. I immediately left that section and picked up a couple of items in another part of the store. Nothing that was out in the open like fruit and vegetables. No way. I hope The other locations are a lot better at ensuring a clean and safe environment. I cannot go to the Brookland location for food. I started to approach one of the employees but was not sure whether situation would change. Please do better. read more

This review is in comparison to the other Yes markets. I have been to this Yes! market many times, and stopped going because I never felt that the prices were reasonable or that the produce was fresh enough for my standards in comparison to the price. So, on the eve of a snowstorm, in the area, I thought to drop by to avoid additional driving. Mistake. I appreciate the local market chain, and it is convenient in many locations of the District. However, if you're concerned for prices, variety and fresh produce, this is not a good choice. For packaged items, processed foods and the like, you'll be fine, if you aren't penny-pinching, frugal or price-conscious. There is a good selection of natural foods that are prepared in the refrigerated section, as well as wine for a cold evening, impromptu celebration or a party in the neighborhood. If you have a special diet or restrictions, you will be able to find items here. Parking is easy with a lot and street parking. If the choice were between this market and a chain traditional supermarket, I would go here. If the choice were between this market and Whole Foods or Trader Joe's, despite wanting to support the small store local ethic, I would go to Whole Foods or Trader Joe's for my produce... or drive to the fantabulous Georgia Ave. Yes! I have found that they are selling non organic products mixed with organic or totally non organic produce with a sign of organic produce. several times I have purchased strawberries, mangoes, apples, blueberries and so many more, because sign says organic but I found later that the produce was inorganic. this is cheating to customers. try yourse and find out truth. read more

I purchased a bottle of vitamins that was Yes Organic Market brand. I noticed when I was taking the vitamins over ten vitamins didn't have anything in them. I called the number on the bottle which was the Georgia Avenue NW location.I wanted to know should I continue to purchase the vitamins from Yes Organic Market or go to Mom's Organic Market to purchase them. No one could assist me. Now my family, friends, and I are going to Mom's Organic Market to purchase the vitamins. Mom's Organic Market is cheaper. This is a little gem in my opinion for a few reasons: 1) Free parking- Drive, park and stroll in= no stress shopping. 2) Location- Super convenient, no need to battle traffic through Silver Spring or Hyattsville for quality foods. 3) Selection- For the same items I would drive to Whole Paycheck (aka Whole Foods) for I can can get them here including quinoa and nuts by the pound, vitamins and quality produce and meat. 4) Size- This place is a tad intimate but I like that. I get what I need and I am out. There's no room to spend money I didn't plan on spending here do to ridiculous displays of things I don't need and numerous aisles of fluff. 5) Cucumber rolls- 10 pk for $5. In a pinch it's a great options. Prices- Ok it costs to shop at this place but if you want organic, farm raised, less chemicals then you're prepared to pay right? If not, you'd be shopping at the Walmart nearby right. So when it comes to cost, I don't complain. For the location and quality I think the prices are fair plus I frequently find sales on things I'm looking for. read more

I moved to DC in mid-July and my first time here I guess I spent to much time looking at items and reading ingredients, because I was followed around the store by one of the workers. Once I realized I said hello and he ignored me but continued to follow me down each aisle. The second time I went early in the morning and the young lady at the cash register had the rudest attitude. I didn't know the DC rule about bring your own bags, and she piled all products into one bag and insisted I didn't need another. I left and of course the bag ripped open before making it home breaking a glass bottle and scattering my produce. I don't plan on going back. read more

I travel from Baltimore to this area for my dentist this is a great market for the community. Living in Baltimore there is MoMs, Roots, and Bear's Honey pot for my go to organic markets, then there's Wegmans. That being said, this little market is on par with their prices, and have a fairly great selection. I went in on a Tuesday, they had sample stands throughout the store. The produce was fresh and reasonable priced compared to their competitors. I don't shop Wholefoods so I don't know their prices. They have foods and salads to go, beer and wines. I got probably one of the best cups of hot coffee I have had in a while. Definately not Starbucks, 7-11, or Dunkin, the coffee served here was phenomenal... read more

I was rather impressed about how easy the shopping was here, especially for a Friday night. Easy to get into, great beer selection, decent amount of wine, and very fresh food. The check out was similarly easy to deal with. My whole shopping experience was fast, happy, and hassle-free. You'd think it'd be a simple formula, but there are plenty of stores that screw it up. Also, a note to people driving down 12th, the cops use their parking lot as a speed trap. Consider yourself warned. I'd shop there again. read more

Pricing of produce is above my economic tolerance. But, in a pinch, it is really nice to have the store in Brookland. The store would be overwhelmed with new business if their mark up was reduced. But, capacity and per capita household neighborhood income are certainly factors in their pricing logic. I suspect the YES! Buyers have compared their pricing to the organics departments at Price Rite, Aldi and Shoppers Food Warehouse who are nearby competitors. If not, a comparative analysis is sorely needed. Moreover, it has always been troublesome that this store does not offer access to a restroom. If this comment encourages a shift in their thinking, a gender neutral solution would be the highest logic. I don't recall a bike rack. After almost burning down my house....I decided that I wanted to go to Yes Organic Market. I'm sick of going to Whole Foods, wanted more options than Glut and wanted to keep it Organic and local so Giant was out. I headed over to Yes to get everything I needed. Sometime's it's hard to find what you need but if I just ask someone they will show me the way. Unlike Glut which doesn't sell meat, I can get organic everything here. It's very refreshing for me. It's on the pricey side but that's what you get with organic only groceries. I like that they have good selection of hair stuff that I need as well. read more

Ants. A crawling army of a kabillion ants were all over the 2 pots of soup and baked goods that are to your right when you walk in Yes Organic Market Brookland. I didnt want to alarm the entire store. So I whispered to a green apron wearing Yes Organic employee; "ants are crawling all over the place right there." His remedy? Smashing the many, many ants with a paper towel. Cleaning up their smushed ant carcasses with just the paper towel and no cleaner. Did he wash his hands after the ant mass murder? Nope! Did he throw away the soup or food the ants were crawling on? Nope! This Yes Organic employee went right back to work making sure that the prepared foods were turned so that you could see the label. read more

Pricey... but what to expect from a small, organic (note snooty tone of voice change here) chain... I stay away from all the frilly organicy products, but if that's your thing they have a decent selection that I can't imagine you'd be able to find anywhere else nearby... If you live in Brookland its convenient. Easy parking, don't have to wait in line that long, you can find what you need easily because it's rather small. I stop there a lot on the way home if I need a few things for dinner and don't want to schlep all the way to giant. The people that work there are knowledgeable and friendly, and I never have to wait in line for long (very unlike the Rhode Island Ave. Giant). I'll keep going for ease of access, and pay a little premium doing it. Nice to have a small grocery store in the neighborhood, even if I have to deal with it being organic. read more

As a grocery store to pick up food items, YOM is 2 stars. The produce hasn't been very appetizing considering how much they're charging--though that is more a general issue I have with the entire organic/local food movement than the fault of YOM itself. I've seen moldy, spoiled, and rotten food still on the shelves and pointed it out to the employees. When I was dumb enough to actually shell out the absurd asking price for some of their produce or meat, I've not been very impressed. I'd rather make a trip to Harris Teeter and pay half as much for stuff that really isn't much different (though perhaps lacking that fancy "organic" sticker). I go here for a few specific items (hummus, fruit preserves, and some bulk foods, for instance) and will check out if there's anything interesting on sale. But other than that, I just can't justify coughing up the cash for 99% of the stuff at YOM. Where YOM earns the third star is the alcohol aisle. Not only is the selection mighty impressive, from Dogfish Head to Leffe and a wine variety to please anyone, but the prices for the beer and vino are actually NOT exorbitant. The apples and spinach at YOM cost twice what you pay at Harris Teeter but the beer and wine are right in line. Crazy, huh? Well, I'm not going to complain.... the availability of delicious and reasonably priced libations within walking distance really is a treat. Hmmmm..... I guess if everyone else's paying extra for "organic" bottled water, chicken, eggs, frozen pizza, etc, helps to subsidize my alcohol purchases.... then by all means I hope the entire neighborhood continues to shop here in droves. read more

They make the guacamole in house and it's off the charts despite the price. They always have samples and do their best to source local vendors and products you wouldn't be able to obtain elsewhere. This is a great grocery store with a very friendly staff. I recently submitted a courteous online complaint regarding some organic whole milk (Yes! store brand) that kept going bad on me before I could finish even half of it. At $7.50 a gallon it was pretty maddening the 2nd and 3rd time it happened. In less than a day I received an equally courteous email from the store manager, who thanked me for my concerns, told me to follow up in person next time I was in the store, and in general made me feel like he cares about my concerns regarding the food that I eat. I did follow up in the store, and the manager made right on the bad milk, and again made me feel that their priorities at this grocery store are more than the bottom line. I didn't get the feeling that the manager was trying to get me to shut up and go away; I left knowing that they are trying to address the issue itself. The organic produce is well-priced; the conventional stuff has come down in price to look more like the prices you would see at a Safeway or Giant. The selection isn't what you see at Whole Foods, but I don't really understand the complaints regarding selection. It's not a supermarket, and that is perfect. They also started taking AMEX in the last year, which is very nice. read more

I'll pay extra for quality ingredients that cater to me but this store just does not have a wide array of things. I also feel that most things here are overpriced. I can easily go to Whole Foods and especially Trader Joes and pay less for the food that I want. Pros: This store is convenient to where I live. There is off street (lot) parking. Great selection of wine. They have good vegan/ non-dairy items. The staff is ok. Cons: Not a huge range of products. Very small. I have been coming to this location for a couple of years since I moved to the area - one of the few places I can get Rudi's GF bread. A few weeks back I had a very negative experience with the managers on duty and was treated like a criminal instead of a good customer for a situation I didn't even cause. For that this would have been only one star. But then after an email, Andy Y. from Yes! HQ stepped in and helped to remedy the situation and provided really good customer service and I feel much better about the store. I was ready to not shop there anymore and Andy's outstanding customer service ethic and simple caring changed my mind. He also promised the store would be retrained on how to handle what should have been a small issue. Thank you, Andy!! read more

Hideously overpriced. Whole Foods often has better, fresher produce (sometimes the exact same organic brand) at a less price...not that the produce is bad at all. Wines are priced moderately high too. I like the bulk items and the single serve packed frozen fish. A major plus about Yes! Is that they are located centrally in a lot of neighborhoods, and that they are small enough to get in and out of in a hurry. So they'll get my business when I only need a few items and I'm rushed. I don't shop here for all of my grocery needs... just a few things here and there... like small things... small healthy things.. that of course are overpriced for many justifiable reasons(ie -- organic.. ie -- in the district of Columbia).. however.. I've always had a pleasant experience here.... as I do appreciate the parking lot... (small but more convenient than street parking, especially if you're in a hurry) they sell the naturally sweetened soda 'Zevia' here... in a 6-pack and by the single can.. the floral selection(yet small) always seems to float my boat... all and all -- this store is conveniently located and I won't hesitate to return! read more

Friendly staff and very clean. The aisles are quite wide which allows for ample space to peruse for items. I was there a little closer to when they closed and there was like no one there--which is super nice because shopping in a crowded store is tiresome. I go here for stuff I can't get elsewhere like Jasmine Green tea, loose spices and beans and nuts so I can get exactly the quantity I measure out, or herbal remedies or some really good wines or organic taco chips or organic soda (!). Also, the green stuff is super; I got 2 Earthbound lettuce and spinach boxes with a $1 off coupon. Nice they have a big parking lot and friendly staff and if the line gets too long, they do the smart thing and open up another cashier line.
