We talked to the fellow working there - was that Tim? - and he was very kind. He told us the history of the house (a former funeral home) complete with some anecdotal ghost stories. The shop itself is huge. Despite its size it is easily navigable. There is an impressive collection of lanterns hanging from the ceiling on the 2nd floor that I found particularly neat. Sadly, while I did find some items that would've worked for what I was looking for, nothing was reasonably priced. I didn't know if haggling was acceptable so we just decided to move on. Parking is behind the building so you won't even see if it is busy! As soon as I entered, the front desk staff came out to greet me and see if I could use any assistance, but as most antique shoppers - I just wanted to browse. As you navigate each room and doorway, the passageways are clear and well marked with arrows and clever messages to help you know where to go. Every nook and cranny is utilized and the vibe through each area makes the entire experience fun with different music greeting you in every new area. Heading upstairs, the stairwell may just have one of the best murals of downtown Pittsburgh that I've ever seen. Upstairs has a lot less rooms, but one had a massage table setup (probably smart to have vendor areas even used for small services too) The selection is stunning and well distributed throughout. I'm on the hunt for sports memorabilia and bobbleheads - which was unfortunately light. I did end up buying four glasses from a local restaurant - Eat N Park - and the price was very reasonable.

This place is wonderful hidden gem that certainly lives up to its name! I stumbled upon it after a…read moremonth-long search for an original Hoosier cupboard. Not wanting to drive to Ohio or Philadelphia to purchase one, I happened to call The Treasure Shack to see whether they had any in stock. I spoke with the gentleman who owns the Shack and he informed that he did, indeed, have a couple original Hoosiers in his store. He described them both to me in great detail and, based upon that conversation, I decided to drive out to Bridgeville and check them out. The moment I walked into this store, I knew I would be going home with more than a cupboard. The Shack is a well-curated little antique store that sells everything from mid-century furniture to (gorgeous) Imperial carnival glass to creepy little trinkets from the 1940s and 50s (i.e., wobbly clown toys). It's well organized, nicely decorated, and smells kinda like grandma's kitchen (in a good way). I ended up purchasing a Hoosier, as well as some glassware, after perusing the store and chatting with the owners for a couple minutes. (Side note: The owners are quite personable and very knowledgeable. They seemed more than happy to answer my random questions.) Even if you don't have something specific in mind, I recommend taking a couple minutes to browse the store if you're in the area. The selection is quite varied and the prices are more than reasonable. Needless to say, I definitely wasn't disappointed with my Treasure Shack experience, and the 25 minute drive to Bridgeville was worth every second.
