My first fish and chips upon setting foot on English soil! Located near Peckham Rye, this place is meant to be more of a takeaway place than dine-in, as they only have a handful of small tables inside.
We went big and ordered a lot: cod (£4.50), haddock (£4.60), large chips (5 scoops for £2.40), sausages - 1 battered and 1 plain (£1.30 each), and a small kebab wrap (£4.20). Keep in mind there was only three of us. We took it home and unwrapped the feast. Yes, it was quite a feast! I don't know how London does it, but just like Japan, their fried food is heavenly! Maybe it's the batter, maybe it's the way they fry it, but everything is light and tasty at the same time! Sprinkle some malt vinegar on the fish and chips and you are set. The large order of chips is way too much for 3 people. Don't be afraid to order the regular size, especially if you are also ordering other items. The sausages were delicious, though I prefer the plain over the battered. The kebob wrap was fresh and tasty and a nice change from all the fried food we ordered. Even though we went overboard with the order, I'm glad we got a taste of almost everything on the first go. Of course, now we know the right amount to order for the number of people dining! =) read more
