After months of walking by these burger joints, I was finally hungry enough- and in the area- to try one. It's true that if you've been to one of the many burger chains in London, you've kind of been to them all. However, each one guarantees good- if not great- quality, and a few signature twists of their own. This place is no different, and conveniently-located near one of London's most famous landmarks. The interior of this one leaves a bit to be desired, with it's quirky Scrabble-looking signage and funky colors, but the menu is the same as everywhere else. I was a bit miffed that I had to get up and go order at the bar after being seated, but the menu was straightforward enough that it didn't take long. Service was also a bit lukewarm, but whatevs. It being my first time here, I thought it best to go with one of their benchmark signatures and ordered The Legend burger with smoked applewood cheese and a side of sweet potato fries with a bacon mayonnaise dipping sauce. I have to say, that was one darn good burger. The meat was perfectly cooked, the sauce they used balanced out all the flavors nicely, and those fries were cooked to such perfection, I had to force myself to use the dipping sauce so it wouldn't go to waste. There was nothing wrong with this meal. And the price wasn't bad, either. They also have a nice selection of cheap cocktails, beers, and dessert on the menu, but for all that, you're going to need an extra stomach or two. read more

This place is located on Tower Hill a short distance from the tube exit. There is plenty of seating and big wide windows to watch the world go by while you're enjoying their food. This place serves a variety of burgers, some mainstay options and some seasonal. They have two types of fries, fat or skinny. Both are delicious, but the fat fries did feel more filling and satisfying. The skinny fries are really well done shoestring fries, that you could probably continuously eat all day if you're not careful. I ordered a basic cheese burger well done and skinny fries. The burger was decent with good cheese, fresh veggies and a nice warmed bun. The service and fast and friendly, even though they were beginning to lock up for the night. This is a decent place to get a burger if you're out by the Tower of London. When we walked in we we greeted promptly and asked if we wished to be seated. We decided to have a seat indoors as outdoors was a bit chilly. The ladies at the counter were quite friendly and assisted us with making our selections. I decided on a classic burger, well done and no relish. Of course in my American mind I pictured the relished to be of the sweet pickle style. Boy was I wrong, Fortunately for me, my friend ordered her relish on the side and I had the opportunity to try It was like a spicy ketchup-bbq sauce with dill pickles. Actually quite tastes. I passed on the fries and to drink I chose nothing other than English breakfast tea with milk and sugar, of course! The order came out just as expected and everything tasted fine. They have quite a few locations around the city but this one near Tower Bridge inside an alley is my favorite one!! They're always packed! You have to go up to the register to order like any other fast food place, although this one's quite classy I must say to call it a fast food joint. MUST HAVE their Chick Chick Boom, it's a chicken sandwich​ with a juicy and huge portion of breaded boneless fried chicken, topped with blue cheese, grilled onion, avocado to name a few in a sesame bun, with a side of their infamous pomegranate homeslaw and sweet potato fries. TO DIE FOR! Yes,​ I know its a burger joint but surprisingly their chicken sandwich beats their actual burgers in my opinion. You can download the app to order or go up to the bar and order. We ordered the lunch special, a pint, and milkshakes. The restaurant was clean and the wait staff was friendly. Great snacks, nice people! In the middle of a Sun. afternoon full of sightseeing we were really hungry for a snack, so we checked reviews and stopped in to this location of GBK. It wasn't very busy and we had plenty of seating to choose from. After perusing the menu, we went up to the bar and ordered truffle cheese fries, onion rings, 2 sauces for dipping, and a madagascan vanilla shake. Num, num, num, and num. It was all delicious, but the star of the snack was the basil mayo sauce. Soooo good! And for just being a "snack' it was really substantial. So much so, that we were only hungry for a late, very light dinner many hours later. The service was good, and all the workers there that we encountered were very nice. My Habenero variant had a very pleasant, if gentler than anticipated, kick to it so I was content with my selection. This was my first time at this GBK and it is one of the best I have been too. I love the location of the restaurant and I liked the way that the tables where set out especially the long table in the front if the window. Service was great and the burger was delicious and hot. A burger bar for people that would like a Chenin Blanc with their beef patty. Unusually this place delivers. If you are within about five minutes walking distance a waiter will scurry off to you with a paper bag full of your choice of burger, fries and sauces. I'm not 100% sure what I think of GBK. Somehow I seem to leave having spent what seems like far too much for a burger and chips and I have had a lot better burgers for less. A GBK like every other GBK really. read more

I love most GBK for lunch. I had their lunchtime special, which is a cheese burger and chips for £6.95. I always ask for the thick chips...far better than the really skinny ones. The interior is relaxing, spacious and friendly. The lighting a soft and calm. Quite often I get a great book and spend my lunch time in a quiet corner, taking time out of the world for an hour. I would not suggest GBK for dates or parties, though I would completely suggest GBK for groups of friends, business meetings...or just for a solo lunch :-) read more

My son had a Jr. Blitzen burger with salad and a Nutella shake....he loved it, the salad was fresh, and the Nutella shake was "awesome" - as my son said. I had the American 6 oz. with skinny fries...cooked perfectly as ordered, skinny fries were excellent and crisp.... Service was good. Why not 5 stars?.....Well, it was our first day in London, and we are not quite over the shocking cost of basic meals here.... the check was $26 USD! We're going back though, because the Pizza Express across the street was $52 USD for a small pizza, a cheese bread appetizer, a bottle of sparkling water and one glass of poor quality red wine! I stumbled upon this restaurant after my morning at the Tower of London and I was starving. My other options were cheap diner food, Subway or this. I opted for this. It may be a chain, but at least it's not an American chain I eat at every week (like Subway). The name basically explains it all. It's a step above McDonald's, but it's still casual. I have been in this branch of Gourmet Burger Kitchen several times and always have had a very good experience. After choosing the food you have to order at the counter and soon you receive it at your table. The selection of burgers is very good and you can choose from the usual ones to other less common like buffalo burger or venison burger. There is a good selection of vegetarian ones too. The hamburgers are pretty big and if you accompany it with a side order like chips you can have a complete meal. The quality of the food is very good and they taste really nice. It's the same fabulous flavours of other GBK branches but this one, particularly at weekends, lacks the atmosphere of many others. It's a bit out of the way compared to many of the other places in the area and there isn't much to look at outside (though it does have a novel window-facing seating area for people nipping out for a quick burger while at work I guess)... Service is friendly but the bottles of water that are available in other branches seemed to be missing here (though there were still free nuts)! Gourmet burger kitchen is not a new venture for the UK but it is for many places as it expands. What we found was a great burger place that we have returned to since and will again. You will be seated and the menu has burger upon burger upon burger which is what you expect really. You can choose from plain burgers to chicken satay and salads and there are vegetarian options available. The prices for all of these differ from £4.50 - 12 depending on what you have on your burger and with it. The actual food is delicious and although they are a little expensive you do feel like you are getting value for money which is good. The food is presented nicely and cooked fresh so you do not get that horrible eating processed food feeling. Then for drinks you can have soft drinks, hot drinks, milkshakes, wine or beer so a good selection really considering where you are. The prices for these are around the £2 mark most of the time so not bad at all. I think with the gourmet burger kitchen they really do take pride in the burgers they are feeding you so you feel like you are getting some good service. Every time I have been there I have had a good experience and I think it is a good quality place to have some food. The staff are always very pleasant although they are busy which is nice and you seem to get looked after properly. The food is yummy and I will definitely be going there again. I recommend to all. Apparently there are several of these restaurants in London. We were so lucky to find one on a hungry Saturday with little open in the City. This branch is very attractive in an ultramodern new building wedged between All Hallows and the Tower. For two LCHFers, the menu was a revelation. They have wonderful starters like simple grilled chicken skewers (excellent quality and flavor) AND simple grilled Halloumi cheese. When I saw that on the menu, I was sure it must be "breaded" and fried as it just says "Halloumi bites". Nope this was just nice big chunks of simple grilled halloumi. Wow, so delicious. As to burgers, they have the gamut covered. I got one (sans bun of course) that had a big pile of delicious beef brisket on top (!)(!!!). My wife got one w/ great cheese and bacon. When you order bunless, they give you an extra portion of salad on the plate along with a tasty pomegranate slaw. So rare for a restaurant to GIVE you something with a bunless option. This made for a wonderful, delicious and nutritious plate. They have excellent drink options - though no draft beer :(. Service - you order at the counter but then everything else is taken care of - was warm, welcoming, friendly and competent. Gourmet Burger Kitchen really delivers the goods in this area and particularly for Low Carbers they are a must visit when in London. read more

There were seven of us traveling together for family vacation. It is hard to find something that everyone wants to eat and agrees on. We had just finished the The London Tower tour and it was hot and humid. We stumbled upon this place because it was nearby. We are from America and used to air conditioning. Most places didn't have that and the uncharacteristic London heat and humidity was rough. Once we got to GBK, we were sat immediately. The restaurant was not crowded perhaps because it was during the middle of the week. The restrooms were not as clean as we would've liked and there wasn't any toilet paper in 1 of the stalls, but the overall place was clean. You have to order your meal from the bar and even though the waiter had a thick accent he spoke slowly and clearly and repeated my order. The food came out quicker than expected. There were 2 vegetarians in our group and they have many vegan and vegetarian options which are delicious. The beef and chicken burgers ordered were seasoned perfectly and not dry or rubbery. The staff was attentive and professional. The cost was £70 which isn't bad considering there were 7 of us and we ordered some drinks/milkshakes too. And yes...the AC was divine! read more
